This game reinforced for me the 4 guys who need to be on the court as much as possible. Ellis, Clark, Caupain, and Cobb all need to be on the floor for 30+ minutes right now for several reasons. If we can just get one more quality starter to step up and play the 3 this team can win some games. We have solid back ups to fill in spot minutes. Thomas would be the perfect guy if Mick could get him on the right page...but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

I think they will still lay a few eggs before it's all over. They have shown potential to win a big game and potential to put up a stinker. Now we need consistency. I don't think we will get as consistent as we want until Mick figures out the right recipe of players, roles, and minutes. As the season progresses those players and roles will become better defined and chemistry will continue to develop.

Good win!! Still a long way to go

I agree on those 4 guys getting the most minutes. Just knowing that Cobb has those spurts in him makes it worth having him out there. Even if he does have a few hiccups along the way. He makes the shots he does bc he has put in the work. His work ethic could make him a good leader in his career here. I am glad Mick stuck with him after an iffy 1st half.

Love this last paragraph

"But Cincinnati looks different, too. Before Wednesday, it already had a stout defense and a brutal home-court atmosphere, and those might have been enough to push to the top of the American alone. But on Wednesday night, it flashed maturity, toughness, and just enough offensive acumen to look truly intriguing going forward. Is it the prettiest team in America? Not even close. But it might just be the best team in the American."

Yeah but I'll take a win over a top 20 team on the national stage any day. Even if they might not finish there towards the end of the year. It was a solid win for this young team. With how they battled against Nebraska and the victory last night, I'm pleased with them

i agree a win is better then a home loss. something this team cant afford. they need a solid road win. sadly they just don't have many chances for them. @ncstate and @uconn. the win last night was big for that reason alone.

The personal attacks on him and Shaq Thomas are ridiculous. Especially coming from guys that have probably never played competitive basketball beyond the 8th grade...

This coming from someone that never attacks anyone on this board.

I will be the first to admit I have openly bashed Morman on here. Honestly he has brought a lot of it on himself with how poorly he has played and his poor attitude. He was yet to do anything to prove otherwise imo. I've played basketball since 5 yrs old and played AAU for 4 years so I know the game of basketball. It is easy to be critical on our players because we expect a certain level. I would be the first to admit I wouldn't be able to play at their level. But then again that is why I was getting offers from Div. III college's and not Div I. Being 6'3 and white can only get you so far.

However, I will certainly curb my thoughts on Morman because I do think he has a lot of potential. He is young and I understand it will take time. Its not right to bash players like that since they are working so hard and I respect what they do. Thanks for bringing that up.

Yeah, Morman is still learning. He is going to make mistakes, but he has the potential to be a Dion Dixon type of player like you said a while ago, NTS. Shaq is definitely the best athlete we have on the team, I would say he is up there with Darnell Wilks and JJ as the most athletic players during the Cronin era. He is so frustrating because he shows flashes of dominance. At this point, if he can average 10 points a game and get some steals for us, I would be happy. I don't think he will ever become a dominant player, but he can be a solid contributor if he gets even a little more consistent.

I am so impressed by Gary Clark. He is really good in traffic when going to the basket or going up for a rebound. He gets fouled a lot bc he's usually in the right spot. That's an underrated skill. He just has superior basketball instincts and the athletic ability to put that into practice. He's one of the best freshmann I've seen all year. He just doesn't seem to struggle with inconsistency the way most 1st year players do. He is going to be a big time player in college basketball as he slowly extends his range over time.

No doubt about it. He has been so impressive. His play at the end of the 2nd half, coming out of the timeout with 6 seconds left on the shot clock was huge!

Criticizing Cronin is fine, he is a grown man that is paid (well) to coach this team. Personally attacking young men that play for the university is pathetic. Especially when those kids are playing as hard as they have been. It has been especially harsh on Morman and Thomas. There is a difference between saying Thomas made a dumb play and saying he should be kicked off the team if he misses another FT...

I wish all of our players would play with the same intensity he does. Even when he isn't scoring, he finds other ways to help us win. His rebounding and hustle are relentless, it is nice to see a freshman in our system that can contribute right away. Hopefully Quadri can start to play better defense, because he also has a unique offensive skill set.

Obviously it is ok to criticize Cronin how else would you justify tearing down Tuberville every chance you get.

It isn't like the players are playing for free either.

I know this is aimed at me, at least in part.
I'm not sorry for what I said.
Earn those schollys. I'm going to have to work for the next few decades just to pay off what I owe the school. If you're getting the full ride, great, you probably earned and deserved it, but now show us it was a good idea. It doesn't look like he's playing to the max of his potential, and that is pretty grating. Remember Gates?

Also, it was hyperbole during a heated moment in a heated game. Sorry if that wasn't completely obvious.

Oh, you're just jealous. Makes sense. Maybe you should have earned a full scholarship and you wouldn't leave with any debt. I just graduated and I have no student loan debt. Sucks to be you I guess....

I really think this team is one perimeter player away from becoming a really good team. We have 3 guys that can score in the post but just have not gotten the consistency out of the 2 spot. I agree with many on here that I like Cobb and Caupain in the game at the same time. Both can create and make shots. The defense is getting better with that match up zone. We rebound well. Our press was incredibly effective. There are some really good parts to this team. Add in some experience and we just might have a team that overachieves at the end of the year.

You make a fair point. I have been guilty of being negative against a few players lately and I regret that. Farad Cobb really put me in my place last night. I agree there is a line when making an observation...and posting something like "Cobb sucks" doesn't do any good for anyone. Just makes the person posting it (me in this instance) look bad.

And then to come back like "oh you should just have gotten a full ride"

Not actually sure how to respond, I try to avoid people with that kind of attitude. That's best where I leave off now

I actually don't see a lot of weakness. He doesn't turn the ball over as much as KJ or ST. He's had like 4 or 5 games with 4 rebounds or more and one more with 3. His assists could go up a little bit. He can create and has nice handles. He's got a pretty quick shot. He can make outside shots. He can make a floater or a pull up J. He showed us last night he can make a step back long jumper. He's sneaky and shifty and can get to the rim for uncontested layups. It would be nice if he could create more fouls. At one point last night he was the most important guy to know where he was on the floor for both teams as he was in at least one other game this year. His D seems serviceable...maybe could get a little better. He shoots 80% from the line.

I don't think it's even a question he needs to be out there.
