Couple of observations.

1. As much as I like SK he can not run the point. Just can not handle the ball well enough to create a mismatch.

2. If this team is going to progress the freshman are going to have to play bigger roles. JJ, Sanders and Guyn are difference makers against sub standard competition. They are role players against good teams. Mick is going to have to live with the youngsters making mistakes but if we don't grow them as players we are in trouble going forward.

wont make a difference with this offensive scheme. its garbage

I love sk, but he just can't play away from home in a high intensity game, it seems like he gets the jitters and plays scared....

Xavier is hot. That happens, and I can live with the 3-pointers they are making because there's not much you can do about it.

What I can't live with is the offensive ineptitude. Year, after year, after freaking year. This team will not go to the tournament unless their whole offensive strategy is scrapped and Cronin starts giving the freshmen bigger roles.

it's not the scheme it's the execution. We are playing with two post players that have zero offensive game except garbage points. SK is a good shooter but needs some one to drive and dish he won't create his own shot. Thomas has ability but can't rebound well enough to stay on the floor. JL is a rail, Caupain is young and shows promise as does KJ but they need time to develope. JJ took himself out of the game with two fouls one offensive and the other was a slap on the X big man at the top of the key. We can't even make a FT is that scheme?

So for the last 7 years the players cant execute? hmm.

It's time to take the cuffs off Lawrence, lets see what he's got. And I agree Johnson and Troy need 30min a game.

While I absolutely hate we are getting killed I am encouraged by the fact the youngsters are looking to score. JL,KJ and Troy have to look to score the ball.

Yeah, it's execution too, but Mick is just going to have to live with some of Shaq's flaws. Same with the freshmen. If he doesn't give those guys the license to create on offense and play through their mistakes, we'll be lucky to go .500 in the AAC.

Yep. Guyn and Sanders should be playing about 10 minutes per game. Give the freshmen some big minutes and encourage Shaq to create more off the dribble. I don't care if they occasionally turn the ball over or make a bad rotation on defense. This team will be solid defensively regardless of who is on the floor... sometimes you have to give up something to give yourself the best chance to win the game.

plaese last 7 years my butt. This program is light years from what he inherited. Cronin has us in tourney 3 years running and is in a rebuilding year. Did you happen to watch KY get beat today with their 6 HS all Americans. Was that scheme. The youngsters need time to grow. JJ and Rubles are nice role players but are not offensive threats in any scheme.

Well 16 down isnt impossible to come back from... i agree with the folks above, play lawernce shaq and caupain as much as possible and rotate in kj. start working toward the future.

i agree Robert. Got to live with the youngsters making some mistakes.

Tell me where uc has finished in the last four years in total offense nationally. youre crazy if you think our offense has been good recently, and why do you bring up ky? yea they lost today... what do you think they would do to us if they started all freshman?

the scheme blows. Walk down the court, throw it into the high post, let SK dance around and run off picks and if that doesn't create a shot, start over or go to 1 on 1. No motion, no ball movement, no entry passes into the low post, it's the same crap it's been since Cronin started.

What about the run and gun? UC's half court offense sucks and they still don't push the ball. Even when they do it's obvious they aren't well taught on how to execute in the open court.

That said, the junior class is killing them. Other than Shaq, no others are legitimate high D1 players. I've never seen someone miss so badly on wide open looks as Sanders, and Guyn belongs in D2 or low D1.

Hey just saying.... Where is kilpatrick? He is a nobody in big games. Everyone on this board ridiculed me for calling him out but where is he?

could care less where we finished offensively. It's wins and losses that count. I brought up KY because when you have young players your going to have inconsistencies. This is a rebuilding year. If he makes the tourney with this group he will have done a outstanding job. It will also mean the freshman have really stepped up.

Three of UC's starters are seniors. The other two have been with the program three years.

The defense is just keying on him and no one else. Pretty easy to stop him when it's 1 on 5 and there is no ball movement to create open looks.

They are on him like glue because good teams know he is our only real scoring option, shut him down and we score 8 points in 13 min
