I agree with all of the above. On top of that I think Shaq needs to get some mental toughness as well. I hope that he is in the gym working on his shot all day and night and works out as hard as SK did this offseason with the weights. Coaches and teammates can give him confidence , but he also needs to do things himself to round his game.

Definitely, Mick has said he is fragile mentally and gets down on himself. I personally can relate to that and positive reinforcement does help, but eventually you have to do things for yourself. I will say that losing his starters spot and coming off the bench would probably not be good to his psyche if it is as fragile as Mick says (which I doubt he would lie about). Coaching is as much managing gameplans and talent as it is handling egos and pumping players up. Each player is different and should be handled such to a degree. I like Shaq, even though it seems I'm hard on him, I think he is still a year away from being where he needs to be to be a difference maker.

david he does not handle the ball better then TC. I can't recall him ever being trapped. GG is not better under pressure. That is why in tight games he is on the bench.

We'll have to agree to disagree on ballhandling. And as I said in my post, I haven't really seen us being pressured much this year to really say one way or the other. I based my opinion on the fact that Caupain has the habit of picking up his dribble, which when under pressure will be a big problem. Others have stated just on height alone that Caupain dribbles higher, while Guyn has a shorter more compact dribble. For the record, I would rather see Caupain in there than Guyn, not trying to argue Guyn is a better player. I do think his on the ball defense is better. We need Mick to post his deflections stat he loves so much so all of our analyzers of data on here have one more stat to keep track of. I know JJ is unreal in this (he said he had 17 in the Memphis game or the game before I believe, also said Shaq had zero one game). I'm curious to know Guyn/Caupain/Johnson's deflection totals. I know Johnson gets his hands on a lot of balls. (c'mon guys no dirty jokes here, keep your minds out of the gutter :))

David the weakest part of GG is his inability to deliver the ball to teammates while on the move. When is the last time you seen him pass to someone for a lay up on the break or drive the lane draw the D and dish. When we were pressed against the Tigers and SMU TC was very good.

I appreciate his effort and understand why people like him but I can't stand him. I've never seen anyone in my life get away with reaching in and slapping other players arms as much as he does. He's one of those guys that television hypes so he never gets called for it. I see it every single game. He is gritty and tough but I don't like him. Maybe the fact that Matta coaches him has something to do with it (refer back to my disdain for X).

It is also the fact that he gets away with everything on defense which is why I say he is overrated. That and he can't shoot.

I don't disagree with this. Distributing the ball and dribbling the ball are two different things. I have said why I believe he is the better ballhandler. By ballhandling I am referrring to dribbling the ball upcourt with the oppsing pg swiping away at the ball, nothing else. I think we're arguing two different things. Guyn does not do the things he needs to do to run the team on offense. Caupain does a better job all around and that's why sees more minutes.

Its a fact???? Jason your not one for irrational comments. If he played for the Cats you would love him. Scouts rate him as one of the best on the ball defenders in college. His out side shot is shaky. Scouts are undecided how his game will play at the next level because of his shot. He is a very good college player.

you may be right. Either way it's nothing to dwell on. Glad we have both players .

On the UL V. Memphis game tonight on ESPN Dickie V talked about the Bearcats game plan against Memphis and also said, "Mick Cronin has Cincinnati playing on fire."

So even if UC is not on ESPN for the next few games at least we are getting mentioned. They also talked about us being undefeated in the league.

Love the publicity. First place after tonight anyone?

Watching the game. Both defenses were not good in the 1st half. Hancock can really shoot the ball. Louisville has some good size on the floor. Partner clearly only cares about making 3's and thinks that is why Memphis loses games. Not overally impressed with either team.
