Guess I should have been more specific. Virtually all of GG's turnovers were from passes. He rarely gets stripped (what I was addressing but unfortunately did not state). He has a low, tight dribble technique unlike TC.
in no context is GG a better option then TC at PG.

What about the 7 three's he jacked up and missed 5? That is basically 5 TO's right there.

Caupain also forced at least 2 steals and if he loses ball he is more than likely driving to hole.

jeff unfortunately fo GG I think since day 1 he has out of necessity been forced into the PG role MC also likes his off guards to be able to handle distribution at times. Dion was very good at that role. I think GG is taking one for the team. My opinion is he fits better as a off guard skill wise.

GG is a PG, just not a good one. He was recruited as a point guard and your two guard can't be someone who sucks at shooting unless they do other things very well. Even then I think it s a stretch.

You could be right LongHaul. Just doesn't fluid or comfortable distributing the ball.

I thought GG shot pretty good last night. He made the two 3s, but 3 or 4 of the ones he missed rattled in and out. Unfortunately, he made his two early and got confident, then felt he could keep on shooting. It would be nice to see him start making more shots. That would really help the team going forward. I think Mick is handling Caupain perfectly right now and it shows in his steady improvement. I've heard that GG is very good in practice, and shoots it really good there, but then struggles in the games. I think Mick is hoping that he ends up with 2 very good point guards in the end, but obviously GG's lack of seeing the floor and distributing the ball presents a concern going forward if he is to be playing that position....even if he does start making shots. Let's hope he has a JJ transformation for his senior year, and just plays steady for the rest of this year. He is still a key piece to the puzzle.

As to last night, we've seen our team play that poorly in the past and lose, or even get blown out. Last night we won. It's like a boxer that gets knocked down a couple times, gets back up and survives to win a close decision. They caught us with a lot of time left on the clock in the second half, and had serious momentum. And we hung on to win. That says a lot.

absolutely L_T. Many teams that blow big leads don't recover. The cats did. Just hope it doesn't happen to often. I think the neigbors heard me screaming at the Television.

How many times have we heard this, seriously?? "We talking about practice, not the game, not the game, but practice.

Bottom line if shots aren't falling, drive to the hole. GG shot 7 three's and only one shot inside the arc. He is also shooting 57% from the line this year. Not too good for a starting pg.

Agreed.L-T. His shots were just a little off, but he had open looks and that what you're supposed to do when nobody guards you.
Caupain adds more options to the game than GG, but NOT defensively. Still you need points to win.

We didn't recover, Waite, we held on. Big difference. We got lucky, but we still got the W no matter how ugly.

?? So if that is the case then Rubles should shoot everytime he gets the ball? There is a reason that they leave Guyn open from outside, he is career 29% 3 pt. shooter.

Rubles is a grinder, he does a great job of rebounding for a guy his size and plays good interior defense against larger foes. He is not an offensive asset and he shouldn't be looked at as one. If Rubles has a look at an un-contested layup or shot from 12 ft and in then he's most likely going to attempt it but he should not be shooting jump shots. The offense should not be putting the ball in his hands unless he's close to the rim.

I'd really like to see the Cats start to get more selective on offense. Too often last night I watched as Guyn or Thomas received a pass where they were open and they immediately took the shot. Teams leave Thomas open for jumpers because they know he isn't going to make them more than 30% of the time, same with Guyn. Sometimes the extra pass makes all the difference in the world.

A lot of people like to key in on Guyn but I'm really struggling at this point to see what value Shaq Thomas is bringing to this team. His shooting is awful, his drives are out of control and when he does wind up at the FT line he's shooting under 70%. I'm not very impressed with his defense or his rebounding ability. I think Shaq needs to see his minutes decrease and possibly lose his starting role. Give him a reason to make changes or progress his game because right now he isn't really adding any value.

I for one think as of now Sanders should start and believe he gives UC more across the board at this juncture.

I never thought I'd say this, but I totally agree with you. Jermaine's stepped up his game this year while Shaq looks rushed and unsure of himself.

Rubles hasn't been contested for a 12 footer since the second game of the year. They leave Guyn open for the same reason, poor %.

Small sample size but Shaq is shooting 36%(4-11) from three and 69% from FT line. Both are way above what Guyn gives you. He is 29% from three and 56% from FT line.

I see where your coming from, but I disagree a little with you. Maybe his shooting "looks" awful because of his flat shots, but the statistics say he isn't awful in the results he achieves. He's shooting 42% overall and 36% from 3, so his overall percentage is a little behind SK and his 3-pt. percentage is a couple points ahead of SK. For a 6'7"-6'8" forward, these are decent percentages. Of the 9 players who generally play, only 3 shoot free throws better than him. He's right at 70% which is a nice "average" free throw percentage. And, only 2 of the 9 players shoot the 3 better than him.

Sanders has had a nice little run recently, but when we played a really good, athletic, and quick team, his production dropped...which is what I suspected would happen. Against Memphis, Sanders was 1-3 overall, 1-2 from 3, 4 rebounds, 2 assista, 1 block, 1 steal, zero turnovers and 3 points. Shaq was 4-9 overall, 1 for 1 from 3, 1 block, 3 steals, zero turnovers, 10 points. I just don't think Sanders will perform the same against the better teams we will play because of his lack of quickness and athleticism, whereas Shaq is far better equipped to compete against those teams. And ultimately, it's those teams that we'll need to beat in March. I wouldn't give up on Shaq yet. Just my opinion.

I think you are right but I think the leash gets shorter with each game. Maybe they are just sticking out in my head but I feel like he had missed way too many lay ups, some of which were off set inbounds plays. Can't do that and except to continue to start. In 22 minutes he was 0-5 from the field, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, and 2 turnovers. Those are just not starting 3 numbers in my opinion.
