Djitte down to Clemson and Cincinnati basketball programs
The wait continues for Sidy Mohamed Djitte, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center at Northwood Temple Academy in Fayetteville, N.C. – for Clemson, Cincinnati and Ibrahim Djambo, a Clemson signee who befriended Djitte during their official visits to Clemson last month.
Djitte, a Senegal native, had pared the list of schools he’s considering to three, Clemson, Cincinnati and Memphis, and he had planned to announce his choice and sign a letter-of-intent on Monday. But he didn’t.
He announced via Twitter Thursday that he’s now down to Clemson and Cincinnati, after calling Djambo to talk things through. He has until Wednesday, the last day of the NCAA’s spring signing period, to make a decision.
“He really likes Clemson, but he’s a little bit scared about some things. He’s scared about will he come and play right away,” Djambo told TigersNow.com. “He wants to come and play, and at the same time he doesn’t want to come and sit on the bench for his freshman year. He really wants to go somewhere where he can go and play.
“I think he’ll make a good decision for himself.”
Rated the 13-best prospect in North Carolina by ESPN, Djitte averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as a senior to be named Carolina Christian Conference Player of the Year.
He had 26 points, 25 rebounds and seven blocks in one game this year, and he had 29 points and 22 rebounds in another.
