Help Support BearcatTalk:

He'll commit next week according to his Twitter. Anyone heard anything new about him? Have we for sure offered him a scholarship?

He didn't specify. Here are the tweets:

@1JHoward2: @SidyThebest good man. Can't wait till you commit

@SidyThebest: @1JHoward2 in two weeks bro :)

Those are from last week

Javis Howard is going to be a freshmen at South Carolina. Did Sidy get an offer from them?

These tweets could have nothing to do with SC though..no idea

Since everyone always hypes players up and then downplays their importance when they go elsewhere, I'll go on the record pre-decision that this recruit isn't someone I'm very worried about.

I have 2 responses prepared.

1. If he signs with UC..........."this guy might be the next Thabeet!"
2. If he signs elsewhere.........."we didn't need him anyway!"

:D

For the love of God can we just recruit a real big man?? I hear of nothing promising in the pipeline and see nothing promising on this roster. I guess getting out of the Big East will help us a little bit with out lack of low post players but c'mon Mick, get it together on this front.

Lots of good options in the pipeline right now. Look at the 2014 recruiting page. You dont know what Lawrence or Strickland will bring to the front line. Also its not easy to get good big guys strictly because there arent many out there. Most big guys coming into college are projects. Some turn out well and some dont.

Who is a real big man? I would just like to know so I know who you are complaining about UC not getting.

We do NOT want Sidy Djitte..trust me on this.

Really, I didn't know you have seen him live. Try to hold judgement until you actually see the person play before your own eyes instead of making wild assumptions either way. Indications point to this guy being somewhat of a project, but he does play with a high motor and seems to be a good rebounder. Right away, there are 2 things that possibly could transfer over into the college game. Maybe he will get lazy when he comes to UC or maybe he won't box out, I don't know. By the same token, you don't know that just because you think he isn't polished that he won't become a good player.

We don't need anymore projects JJ. We've had about 5 projects in the last four years. It's getting ridiculous honestly.

I guess you don't want any big men then. 99% of big men are projects. They are usually pretty good defensively and need work offensively. So I guess you want to play a 5 guard/wing lineup?

Besides transfers, who have to sit out a year which thus makes them projects, how many polished bigs wil you find out there? Not many, and the ones that are play for Duke, NC, Michigan, etc.

Just ignore him JJ. Gotcha strictly looks at recruiting rankings and nothing else. I had a post about big men in the big east a few weeks ago and the majority of big men were 3 stars ie projects, Marquette had one and they won the league, Cooley at ND was a 3 star, Keita at Syracuse a 3 star. Last night watched Steph Curry light it up, guess what he was a 3 star with no big 6 offers. Honestly 90% of recruits are projects, UK, Kansas, Duke, UNC get top tier talent, the rest are mostly projects.

So gotcha who should we be recruiting that isn't a project? Instead of saying who we shouldn't recruit how about offering who we should.

Actually I would love to play four guards(two with size) and one tall athletic PF. Mick has struck out on bigs four years in a row. I actually have some faith in Gaines but Mick doesn't seem to agree. You think bringing in the bigs we have the last few years helps us? Out of your minds.
