@SidyThebest: Just got home. I had a great time at Cincinnati ( UC ) it was pretty cool. Thank you all # bearcats

Then someone (who might be a football recruit from his high school) asked:

@239_Boy: @SidyThebest Did you like it Up there bra?

And he said

@SidyThebest: @239_Boy yes sir i did like it

that is actually another University of Cincinnati recruit. But in football. He will be a freshmen this season.

Tshumbi Johnson a 3 star WR from florida. I did find it odd he reached out to him though. Johnson is from florida and Sidy has only been in the US for a few years and lives in NC

Is it possible they were both on campus at the same time? Or, does the football recruit play basketball as well in HS and possibly they met at a camp or tourney?

I have no idea..I just went to the guys twitter and made the connection of who he was. Im not sure about him playing basketball or being here this past weekend

I will obviously trust the staff's eye for talent over my own, but I really would look at guys in the 2014 class rather than settle for this kid. Maybe he turns out to be the next Gorgui Dieng, but based on this staff's track record, I wouldn't count on it.

This may not have any effect on 2014 though. We will have to see how the roster shakes out to get a better understanding. You are still going to have at least 3 scholarships for 2014 (SK, JJ, and Titus) and possibly 4 if Big Dave is still here this year. If this kid comes to UC, who else goes? If it's Big Dave, would you really be that upset? If it's Gaines I KNOW no one would complain. Would you trade 4 years from this kid who seems like he could at least give you what Dave does this year (and has a good upside) for one year of Dave and the big unknown of future recruiting?

I don't like the idea of asking guys to leave. I feel Gaines and Nyarsuk are serviceable enough.

But then again, the coaches see them everyday. And if they see Sidy as a huge upgrade over those other 2 guys, and see those other 2 guys as overmatched and more mid-major or D-II material, then I'll trust the coaches judgement if they ask them to leave.

We also don't know what "agreement" or understanding is between the coaches and players. It is possible that Dave knew it might only be for 1 year when he came (much like Timmy Crowell) or it's possible that Gaines is hurt so bad that he may not be able to play at this level. There are a lot of what ifs and we won't really know until the end of the late signing period and possibly later.

the football player who tweeted at him was Tshumbi Johnson from Immokalee, FL who is committed to the university of cincinnati for football as an athlete

I saw you making a comment that the kid can play. Yet you know this without seeing him play? If it isn't right for someone to say he can't play without seeing him play maybe you should just go ahead and not pretend like you have a clue either. Or let others say what they want and let time be the judge.
Maybe you should learn how to read and understand content of what is being said. The whole point of the rant was for everyone to not beat the kid up and put him down when you have no clue and have never seen him its ignorant to make judgement on anyone in a negative way in life in general without giving them a chance bc of skin color race height whatever it is...and I'm pretty sure its better to give him the benefit of the doubt off of seeing stats and a little video then to just assume bc he is African and some African players here haven't panned out to everyone's expectations. Also if you haven't realized recruits check up on stuff like this how about being excited letting them know we would be happy having them and trusting the coaches judgement on talent rather then putting the kid down over idiotic reasoning.

They filled up the center position with Kyle Washington and BJ Anya...
Kyle Washington is a beast we were looking at him early don't blame them for passing a scholarship from Sidy to pick him up Washington looks like an elite player.

While I mostly agree with your analysis, remember, we would have 4 years with him. IMO, this guy is less of a project than Gaines. Gaines averaged 10 ppg in HS, can't expect him to come in and score 15 ppg in college. This guy reminds me of a younger and less foul prone Cheikh. If we could've had Cheikh for 4 years or at least without an injury-prone 1st year, he would've been a solid player. I think this guy has the potential to be a solid big.

I read fine, thank you. And I think you meant "context". And this is now at least the second time you have stated "everyone". Who has beaten him up? I think reading a blurb on the guy saying he is raw and questioning it is perfectly reasonable. No one was ripping him. No different than saying you think he'll be good without ever watching him. No one really knows but if you can't have an opinion w/o watching a player play than make sure it goes both ways.

Nope I meant "CONTENT" like as in content of information of information I was trying to express. Such as a life lesson of being positive and not judging people in a negative way in general. Your not really worth arguing with about this either way. Just annoying seeing about 3 or 4 people including yourself saying this kid wont develop and be anything bc he is an African Native and we haven't had one pan out to be a force like Gorgui Dieng. Every person is different you never know what he could turn out to being

I really just have no clue where the scholarship comes from. I know the whole "it all works itself out" and I agree. However, losing 2 current players seems very complicated. Assuming it does workout, why the hell not? I'd love a 6 man freshman class.

The way I see it is if UK can somehow have 8 there has to be a possibility for us to make 6 work somehow. They had 13 on the roster last year 2 seniors gone and im pretty sure 3 leaving for the draft. So not a math wiz or anything but 13-5=8 8+8=16 which according to NCAA 3 to many scholarships. So we would be at 2 over with another addition why not add 2 more since they can somehow... obviously im as confused about how this is all somehow going to workout like all of you but they are in worse shape then we are at least and nobody seems to be flagging them saying hey you have to many players.

Yea, content doesn't make sense. Either does information of information. Maybe that is why you think I can't read.

I never said the kid won't develop. Show me where I did? It seems you have the reading comprehension issues not me. Sorry I said I'm not overly excited about the prospect. If he comes I'll support him and hope that he becomes the next Dikembe Mutumbo.

Umm, yea there is this rule that you can't have more than 13 scholarships. You seriously think UK would just get away with having too many scholarships? Either incoming players don't qualify, players leave, or someone miraculously decides to pay their own way, but they aren't going to have more than 13 players on scholarship...UK is in fine shape. They have had enough players go pro and if anyone else commits they'll just send one of their two seniors packing.
