I hope you are joking.....

Moore had a dismal summer, which is why I think many UC fans thought the staff backed off. Glad to have him, hope he improves this season.

Half-joking because they do like to do that to us, but Moore did struggle this summer. He still has a great skill set and should be at least a top end 3 star to a low end 4 star. Not many 6'9 guys who are as big as he is that can step out and knock down shots, he also has pretty good handles for how big he is. Needs to learn how to play the post because, IMO, he is a 4, no way he ever develops the speed required to play the 3. If he can continue to knock down shots and develop a post game, he could become a lethal weapon.

He is still rated as a 4-star on ESPN if you are so paranoid about rankings drops. Please stop the nonsense "that do like to do that to us", I hate whiny fans....

I'm not paranoid, I just get tired of these recruiting services not giving us any love. Click on the recruitingnation page on ESPN, and all you see is Duke, Kentucky, etc. Think about when we landed Lance Stephenson, it was pretty much only covered by local media. Think about when we landed Lawrence and he mysteriously dropped without being evaluated a few days later. Thankfully, after we landed Clark, they talked about us a little. I don't really care what they think because ESPN doesn't do a great job covering recruiting in general unless it is some of the big time guys, so when we do land one of those guys, I just wish they would talk about it a little more. It isn't like it is just us, but it is pretty much all small markets that they screw over. When St. John's landed Obekpa, we heard about it forever because they are in the NY market, and when we land Lawrence, ESPN, Zags, etc. all discount it and totally disregard the fact that we have done much more than St. John's has the last few years. It's not whining, it's a fact that you cannot deny. It's like calling someone a whiner for saying that the Yankees get more coverage than the Reds, it's just stating a fact really.

All about money my friend...Duke, Kentucky, etc sell subscriptions and get page views. Get used to it....

Yep, because that's what they base it on.

You can't pretend the level of interest from certain schools does not affect recruiting rankings. If Kentucky expressed interest in a two-star recruit, he undeniably would be promoted in ranking based largely on that. Obviously they don't formulate the entire top 100 based on that, but to discredit Jack is wrong.

This is true to an extent. I actually think it happens more in football where it is impossible to see every recruit play. If an Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, ND, USC, etc recruit a player under the radar, they will no doubt see a jump in their personal ranking. Recruiting is such big business now that I think it doesn't happen as much as it used to, especially in basketball where there are much fewer players.

Yea, if UK, Duke, etc offer a player they are naturally going to have a higher opinion of him, but they don't change their rankings based on where the player commits to. It's funny, I see those comments from so many fan bases, even UK. It seems that recruiting analysts have a bias against every team in the country.

I rarely see a player drop because of this too. Usually the player jumps up a star, not down.

Could careless about rankings. If a kid can play I don't care what he is ranked. Moore will get his chance to prove his value when he arrives.

While I mostly agree with you, rankings are in fact good for publicity and building fan excitement.

I agree with you, I do get excited when I look on Scout or Rivals and I see us chasing a 5 or 4 star recruit. I do not think they are accurate whatsoever and they could take more into consideration, but they are fairly accurate. I trust Mick's judgment and evaluation of recruits more than anything. He liked what he saw in Strickland and said the injuries kept him from getting major attention. I'm curious to see how he looks

Yep, because that's what they base it on.

To a certain extent, yes they do. That's why it's nice to have 247sports, because they tend to evaluate more guys and do a better job of it because they are a site solely devoted to recruiting. ESPN is getting better about the bias, but to deny that there is no bias at all is foolish. While they are a company and they have to get as many page views as possible, a few stories on other schools wouldn't kill them.

ESPN took a huge hit with Telep leaving. He was the best in the business...

No, they don't. Whether 247 is devoted to recruiting has nothing to do with ESPN dropping the ranking on a player b/c he committed to UC. And your last sentence has nothing to do with the argument. Fact is that regardless of whether ESPN factors in the schools recruiting a certain player, where they actually commit to has no bearing on their rankings. I've seen plenty of UC players go up in rankings after they have committed and I've seen the opposite. UK, DUKE, and other schools have had players drop in rankings after they commit as well.
