Found some game tape of Quadri:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JGEBTEjEii8&desktop_uri=/watch?v=JGEBTEjEii8

This was in the tournament last year in March
Quadri is number 30 in the orange

Quadri played pretty bad the first 7 minutes, but he makes a nice move around the 7:50 mark.
He sort of fades into the background, but then makes some nice moves again around the 15 minute mark. From that point on, he plays pretty well.

Positives: He has some great moves that most bigs cannot defend. He is pretty gifted offensively and can really help you stretch the defense. He isn't afraid to post and then re-post if something isn't there, and he is good about staying away from the double team. He has a nice shooting touch from the outside.

Negatives: He can be a pretty bad rebounder. He sometimes doesn't box out and he doesn't grab the ball with two hands. While his playing like a guard can give him an advantage at times, he also gambles sometimes on defense and at other times looks lost. He needs to learn that if he is going to foul someone, he must foul them hard so that they don't get an "and 1." He is still learning how to play the post and really assert himself down low.

Miscellaneous: The guard play of his team in this game was pretty bad. They looked like a deer in headlights when they were trying to break the press later on in the game. Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't sub Quadri out every once in a while for a guard so that they could more effectively break the press. I think their guards need to learn the concept of "fake a pass to make a pass." Quadri hit a big 3 that really helped sway the momentum. He also had a nice dunk off a telegraphed pass that he picked off. Both of those were huge plays in the game.

Overall: He has a nice game. He will provide another element to our offense that we lack this year. Hopefully, Mick can really coach him up and make him become the complete player that he could be. He does remind me of Yancy a little bit, as he sometimes doesn't assert himself down low, but he is incredibly skilled. He is definitely slimmer and quicker than Yancy, but both have the same tendencies. I'm excited to get Quadri and I hope that with DeBerry/Strickland/Lawrence/Clark, we got some nice offensive production from our bigger players next year.

man jumpingjack you brought back some crazy memories!! whew that was the semifinal game last season... winner went to the state title game.... we won this game in overtime.... and lost the state title game in overtime... if you go to 42:30 of the vid... game was tied... they inbound..... they go for the winning shot... we block it... our guy picks up ball heaves up 3/4 court shot banks it in!! our fans went crazy but you can see he put it up a tic after the buzzer!! but like i said we pulled it out in overtime...

Hi Robert.... yes the private schools play in a separate state tournament..... they do play in their respective county tournaments... although st anthonys (bob hurley) took his team out of the county tournament to give other schools a chance to win a championship lol.... anyway..... privates have two divisions... parochial A and parochial B.... the publics have Group I through IV based on enrollment.... so there are 6 state champions from the aforementioned groups.... those 6 teams are then seeded and play in the Tournament of Champions.... in the 24 year history of the Tournament of Champions St Anthonys has won it an amazing 12 times! followed by st patricks (kevin boyle--current coach at USATodays #2 montverde academy) with 5 TofC titles..... the publics have only won the TofC 4 times the last time coming way back in 2000 behind one of the best players ever in new jersey--dejuan wagner.....

Linden plays in undoubtedly the toughest conference in new jersey.... we are in the same conference as the #2 team in state... the #7 team in the state and many more tough schools including elizabeth who we beat last night that is one of the biggest public schools in america 5000+ students..so we will be playing them all home/away...... our out conference schedule is one of the toughest in the state as well as we are playing some of last years state champions including tomorrow when we play the group II champion newark tech..... we scrimmaged the #1 team in the state last week that includes kentucky recruit 7'1" karl towns and we destroyed them albeit without the starting point guard 6'3" vanderbilt recruit wade baldwin.... dont take much from scrimmages but just sayin... lol...

our conference is based on geography but they have different divisions within our conference based on school size.... hope that was helpful sorry if i am long winded lol

Thanks for coming to this board and sharing, your info is awesome!

yes it was crazy... we played their pace... we play a much slower half court pace they just wanted to run up and down the court which worked well for them!

Boys basketball: Livingston, Moore lead Linden over Newark Tech

WEST ORANGE — After a sloppy start against Newark Tech in which it trailed the whole time, the Linden boys basketball team went on a 26-5 run spanning the end of the first half and into the second half and never relinquished its lead.

Behind 17 points off the bench from junior guard and Patrick School transfer Otis Livingston, and 15 points and seven rebounds from Cincinnati-bound Quadri Moore, who also scored his 1,000th career point, Linden came away with a 69-57 win in the Tip-Off Hoop Group Classic on Sunday at West Orange High School.

“We just stopped them,” Linden coach Phil Colicchio said. “We weren’t competing for rebounds early, we were stuck in the floor, we weren’t getting up after them. Our defense was playing too far out — we just flattened our defense out a little bit and that created some momentum and gave us a chance to get some steals.”

Newark Tech (0-2), last year’s Group II champion, led for the majority of the first half, including by as many as 10 early in the second quarter.

Moore, a bruising 6-foot-8 senior forward, cut the deficit to 21-14 with 7:12 left with a two-handed dunk on a fastbreak for his 1,000th career point. The game was stopped at the next whistle to recognize his accomplishment.

“It was exciting,” Moore said. “I’ve been waiting for it for three years, so it finally came.”

After Newark Tech held a 28-21 advantage, the Tigers made their move, closing the half on a 12-2 run with Moore on the bench for most of that spurt.

“Quadri is our best player, but we have a lot of good basketball players, kids who are very experienced, so we don’t rely on just playing basketball behind Quadri,” Colicchio said. “We have about nine or 10 kids that we think the strength of our team this year is our depth.”

Linden’s depth is what makes it so difficult for other teams to match up with.

On Sunday, the Tigers’ bench of Livingston, James Julius, Quinton Dixon and Rick’Keem Mixson combined for 35 points.

“Our bench means a lot to us because if I’m not playing well or somebody else isn’t playing well, then there’s somebody else who could fill in and do whatever you got to do to get the win,” Moore said.

Sophomore guard Mustafa Lawrence led all scorers with 21 points for Newark Tech.

Linden Tigers (22-8)
Quadri Moore 2014 PF

The 2013 Linden Tigers were last season’s dark horse of the New Jersey high school basketball scene, however 2014 is looking a little different. The reigning North 2 Group IV champs return four starters, most notably Cincinnati commit Quadri Moore.

The 6-8 Moore is one of the most versatile big men in the country.

“What makes Quadri so hard to cover is his ability to do anything on the court,” said 16th-year head coach Phil Colicchio. “Against a big guy, he can go outside with his perimeter game, but he can also beat a smaller defender inside with his size.”

ESPN.com rates Moore as the 28th-best center in the nation and the Garden State’s 3rd-best recruit behind Sports U teammates, St. Joseph’s seniors Karl Towns (Kentucky) and Wade Baldwin (Vanderbilt).

The Bearcats have shown interest in Moore since the second game of his freshman season at Linden. Moore’s decision was between Cincinnati and Seton Hall, but the four-star recruit also had offers from Wake Forest and Miami (FL).

“I always liked their program,” said Moore. “Through the whole process, I just felt comfortable with them and how Coach (Mick) Cronin runs the team.”

A Union County team, Linden is tasked with one of the state’s toughest schedules, including home and away matchups with Roselle Catholic, The Patrick School, and Plainfield. In addition, the Tigers have a strong out of conference schedule including a meeting with Newark Tech at the Hoop Group Tipoff Classic and a holiday tournament in Charleston, North Carolina.

This group however has the experience to be ready for the challenge.

One of the strengths for Linden this season will be their continuity. The only starter Linden is losing is Terrell Bagley. Along with Moore, William Sessons, Josh Carter, and Juwan Jones all return for the 2014 campaign.

“Experience is the best teacher, and these guys have been together for a long time,” said Colicchio. “The chemistry is there, they grew up playing together and last season was great for us to grow us as a team.”

That experience will be key for the Tigers in 2014.

“After winning the section last year, we are going to have a target on our back the whole season,” said Moore. “But with almost everyone back, I think we can do it again and take the county this year.”
