Yea I pretty much now trust our bench to make plays. Beginning the of the season in big games, I kinda Cringed when we would bring in JJ, Tre Scott or Cumberland.

But now, JJ provides a spark of energy. Tre provides all out effort, defense and intensity and then Cumberland provides another shooter, a driver and what i really like, offensive rebounding.

I really like Brooks as well. He is going to be great big man for us but he will always be asked to do less in big games because big men take longer to develop.

Quadri is my biggest concern. If we would just go out on the floor and focus on nothing but rebounding and defense, he could earn more minutes. Offense should come in the flow of the game but instead he forces it.

Also was a bit surprised that in our route of Tulane, Quadri didn't record a single minute

Moore was out with a hurt back against Tulane.

For Moore, he is what he is. I disagree with having him try for extended minutes with defense and rebounding. He should just be a microwave. When we get in a rut, let him in to try to get a quick 5 and get him out before he hurts you. Leave it at that.

Jake I see what your saying and after 2 1/2 years in the program with little evidence that he has changed his approach you may be right. I really think he is a very frustrating player. He could contribute so much more if he would try adopting the team concept. I would be surprised with how the others are playing if he gets significant minutes going forward.

I don't even really want him on the floor if he's not going to play team ball. If he passes up an easy assist because he would rather shoot it's not going to do us a lot of good. He's shooting worst on the team. Getting an offensive spark from your least efficient player is a last resort.

Getting him to set picks, rebound, and pass the ball is option A imo.

Sure thats how the coaches should use him since he obviously wont listen. Im saying for his personal growth, he will do better impressing Cronin with defense and rebounding.

If he isn't going to play D and rebound, I'd rather him not play.

Against Temple, he scored 5 quick points and yet Temple scored 8 quicker points with him on defense.

With Caupain having a bad year so far (shooting) I wouldn't mind mixing up the lineups a little. Let Jenifer have a little more time with the starters to see how it looks. Ride the hot hand. I would probably keep Clark and Evans in as long as possible. Beyond that we can see who's making the needle move. Cumberland... Jenifer. Even Scott for defensive reasons.

Cumberland last 5 games per 40 minutes...

23 pts
7.5 rebounds
3.5 assists
60 percent from 3
50 percent from 2

Turnovers have been high at 2.8 lately

Haha you love small sample size per 40 minutes stats. 2.8 TO for a productive non-PG in 40 minutes really isn't very high I don't think.

Small sample size is good to spot trends. And his last 5 games are roughly half of his total minutes this year. In other words his first 9 games were about the same sample size. A little more but not much

Also...He had 5 turnovers in the first 12 games but 6 in his last two. I am mainly concerned that he was billed as a low turnover guy and that he gets this late trend fixed. Not a big deal when he's being productive.

I get the feeling when I cherry pick stats some people think I am trying to apply it to the season as a whole. I'm not that naive...But you try to figure out who is playing well lately to see who should maybe get more time on the court.

When you cherry pick you usually start with the game when things seemed to make a turn. With Cumberland it was obvious...But the confidence seems to have carried over.

waterhead - while you're looking at the stats, want to tell us how many of those turnovers are from offensive fouls? those are different types of turnovers.

Good call. I was wondering why that number was higher. God I hate those calls. He's had at least 2 in that span. I do love how he had a charge called on him and like 1 minute later did the same thing and got an And 1. He doesn't back down.

I wasn't able to watch the last game. The game before he had two passes that went to nobody...And almost lost another on a dribble move.

I guess neither of you noticed I am trying to play Cumberland up...Not down? But you both decided to glob onto the side note about turnovers?

I am not arguing with/attacking you, for the record.

i'm not either. i just wanted to know how many of his turnovers were the result of offensive fouls because i judge those much differently than other turnovers, and because i know he's gotten at least 2 charges during that span.

i also didn't want to look it up myself so i left it for someone who seems to enjoy doing such things.

OK my apologies to both of you. Someone can tell me who watched the last game...I didn't get to see it. The previous game was careless. But I was more impressed with how his production is going lately in several other areas.

He gets so many bad offensive fouls called because of his size, if he did those same moves and was 175 pounds, they'd never call it. IF your out of position and Cumberland bumps you, the foul should be on the defense every time no matter how far the defense flew to the ground.

Good thing is; it doesn't seem like those offensive fouls have deterred him from going to the rim. He is so big that he draws help and then finds guys wide open. HE is a great passer. Just needs to work on his handles a little bit.

I love his confidence though. I think this team is super unselfish. Like Jacob is a star player but doesn't mind taking a backseat to a hotter hand, same for gary, Troy and even Washington. I think Kyle does everything for his team, even if it doesn't always appear that way. He just doesn't always make intelligent plays but I dont think he does it to be selfish
