Thanks Jake this should satisfy everyone. Those who want to debate Cronin as a coach can do so without turning every thread into a battle. It also means people can avoid such comments while still allowing those with a different opinion a place to air their displeasure.

Sounds like a great plan, but some don't care what the thread entails; they'll still derail it into a debate about the Coach. The block/mute tool is nice, but I've noticed it only does so much.

The "State of the Program" is vastly different than these individual thread topics. It is impossible to discuss the 2016/2017 season without discussing Mick Cronin, no matter how his apologists think. If there is an expectation that all negative thoughts and statements about Mick Cronin go over to the "State of the Program" thread, then the opposite should be expected as well for the ones who continually spin the great positives about the program and the coach that a large percentage of this fanbase completely disagree with. The fact that this large group are so disgusted with the state of this program that they have zero interest in posting on sites like this is irrelevant. The few that still care eenough to post their feelings should be able to do so without issue. One group cannot be giver the freedom to spin the positives without the other group being given the chance to respond, counter, or disagree. If Mick Cronin is the reason for the disagreement, then that should be allowed to be posted freely.

On the other hand, any person who makes a comment of a personal.nature about another poster should be banned immediately. That would improve this forum 1000%. That is what ruins every forum and it goes on continually in here in both a direct way and an indirect way. The fact that those people who love Mick are upset about hearing that he is the problem....oh well! He can change that by recruiting better, winning championships, and doing something in the NCAA. I'll be happy to shut up about him when that happens. The continual personal comment posts and the juvenile posts about threads being ruined are waaaaay further off topic than discussing the leader of the program who owns a piece of almost every topic.

For the record, I really like our starting lineup this year, but the bench is a question mark, and so is the coach. The law of averages says that one of these years we will overcome our question marks and weaknesses and have a great season. I hope this is the season.

Last year the word was we spent a lot of early practice time focusing on offense. Anybody think that will be the case this year. If memory serves me a bunch of our close losses early in the year were due to defensive lapses in close games. I remember reading how the players were playing defense as if they could just out score the opposition. Really think we need to find a much better balance. Early in the year even in blow outs we were giving up way to many open threes that were available due to dribble drive penetration. Should be interesting to see how Mick decides to start the year after last season's experience.

On paper we should be a better offensive team with more experience and adding Cumberland and Washington. Our interior passing and ball security should be better swapping out Washington for Ellis. With him and Clark manning the 4 and 5 our interior passing should be greatly improved. I look for much better spacing and a big jump in our inside out game. We should shoot a better percentage from three just by catching the ball in rythm with the improvement in our hands in the post. Things I read say Washington is a very good passer. TC takes very good care of the ball and Evans should take a step forward in that part of his game. If JJ can make better decisions I think his game can come along. While there are portions of their games I will miss It will be great not having to cringe every time Ellis and Shaq touched the ball offensively. Ball security was not there strength. After 3 years in the program I hope KJ takes a step forward and loses the title of king of unforced turnover. If he can do that it will greatly enhance his value to the team.

Troy Caupain 50 made 3's in the 2 minute shooting drill. Elite effort.

Outstanding!!!! Really hope TC has a big senior year. He has represented the University very well in his time here. Good student and hard worker. For my money that is what college athletics should be about.

In 3 pt contests you get 1 minute and shoot 25 3s. Making 50 in 2 minutes is very impressive, even if they were all from the same spot.

Hopefully most of our guys are ready to shoot lots of 3s this year. As long as the line is 20'9", we should be trying to wear it out.

I'm not saying we should scrap the inside-out/post game altogether, there is always a time and a place for it...but hopefully our personnel will allow us to have a few different wrinkles offensively. The long scoring droughts that have come with our offensive approach over the years can be frustrating. I'm hoping instead of banging our heads against the wall when we get in a rut, we have other lineup options to go to that will allow us to space the floor with 4 out. This can be accomplished if Jenifer ever gets on the floor, or if we move Evans to the "4" with Johnson and Cumberland at the 2 and 3. Obviously not an all the time thing. But certain AAC teams won't be able to guard a smaller lineup and have enough physicality on the floor to deal with our toughness.

Jake I think many of our ruts were caused by poor decisions and bad ball handling. As I mentioned Washington has much better hands then Ellis and Shaq was a disaster in the half court. A small improvement from KJ and we should be better offensively. Scott is supposed to be a very good passer as well. In Clark and Washington we really have two very good passing bigs.

All good things. I just hope Washington has good touch. Any idea what kind of FT% we can expect?

Haven't really heard or seen how he shoots FT's but I do not he has a nice touch from the outside. I would surmise he has a nice stroke from the line.

We can cut down on 2-3 turnovers a game on the new guys just having better hands. Shaq would dribble off his foot and ellis has terrible hands to even catch the ball. A good pg is only valuable if your other 4 have the hands to catch quick passes

You don't have to worry about quick passes with Troy. He's not very creative in that part of his game. Pretty vanilla. If Jennifer's minutes increase, that could be a concern.

I'm hoping that's the case. Caupain is phenomenal at not turning the ball over. He averaged just 1.8 turnovers in 33.5 minutes per game. Most PGs will average around 3 in that many minutes. That UConn 4-OT game was nuts...dude dropped 37 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists in 56 minutes and had ZERO turnovers all game. Turnovers really aren't a big concern of mine entering this season.

One of the best performances by a UC PG in recent memory. He played a incredible game.

Cobb put up a snapchat of Kyle Washington practicing even when drills were over. I feel like his work worth ethnic is something special. He will give us more than Ellis gave.

some have pointed out that Kyle Washington fits the bearcat mold. A hard working vocal player who hates to lose.

While I think Ellis made progress in his career both on the court and off I won't miss the little squabbles he seemed to get into every game. Kid had a rough upbringing and I hope he continues to make progress with his anger issues. You just have to know the opposition was constantly trying to push his buttons. His story is a reminder that success isn't always measured in wins and losses.

It really stinks that Troy is going to be a Sr. this season. Without much depth behind him it's going to take a heroic effort from Troy, Gary and Jacob to achieve the kind of season I'd like to see Troy have before he leaves.

Regardless of what happens Troy is going to leave UC as one of my favorite players in the history of the program and for some reason one that seemed to have our fan base polarized. He'll probably top the list of most under-appreciated Bearcats of all time.
