Who else could we realistically have scheduled at this point? I was expecting MD-Eastern Shore.

They were 142 in Kenpom

So it could be a lot worse.

Going off the teams we know we play

Last season Kenpom Rankings:
Butler (away) #32
Xavier (home) #11
Iowa State (Away) #16
Rhode Island (Nuetral) #82
Duke (if it happens) #20
Marshall (home) #142
Penn State (if we lose to RI) #146
Samford #227
Brown #271
Albany #118
Bowling Green (not confirmed if we play just assuming) #221

though last year rankings doesn't indicate how good a team will be this year. Most teams are going to make huge huge regressions from the year before. I think Duke, Rhode Island, & Xavier could be better than last year. Butler I would expect to hold steady and Iowa state will drop a bit with losing McKay and Niang but Monte Morris will keep the team very good still.

Last year we had 13 non conference games, but I only know these 10 games. DO we generally always play 13 Non conference games and we should expect 3 more??

I met Kyle Washington this morning. He was traveling somewhere, I didn't ask.

Hands down, one of the nicest and professional college athlete I have spoken with. I wished him good luck this year and told him I was excited to watch him play.

He graciously thanked me and said he has been working real hard. He then told me that they have a real good team this year and it will be exciting to watch.

My favorite part of the convo, he brought up all on his own. He randomly said at the end, "there won't be any first round exit this year in the tourney, I can promise you that." I just kind of laughed and said that sounds good (even though I was thinking, god i hope not lol).

Great to hear. I've heard he's expected to be a vocal leader on the floor, who will demand the ball. He, Caupain, and Evans are all like that. Will be interesting to see how Gary adapts, since he's obviously pretty quiet. He may have to demand the ball a bit more and be more assertive. He may be the most talented out of all of them.

Good to hear that he's a good guy. Say what you will, but Cronin has largely recruited good kids into the program. I loved Huggins, but we were always waiting for the other shoe to drop and wondering which guy on the team would be the next to do something stupid and embarrassing to the school. That has largely been absent from the program under Cronin (other than the obvious exception of the brawl with X - which they instigated and Gates finished btw).

I've heard and read nothing but good things about Washington. I think he'll be a vast improvement over Octavius offensively. Hopefully he can rebound and defend at a reasonable level also. I'm looking forward to watching this team.

Go Cats!

I bet Washington is the X factor this year. He has had a will to win and work hard ever since entering into the program.

Be careful saying that to X fans...I associate with quite a few of them, and they still to this day fully believe it was all UC's fault. It's mind-numbing.

yeah because we won't make the tournament at all with mick around amirite u guise!?!?!

Looks like the last 2 years we got the Non Conference schedule released in Early July.

Michigan screwing us really set that back I would think. Most teams had already released their non conf schedule by the time it was announced UC and Mich weren't playing this season.

Really hope we get to see what the non conference schedule looks like soon.

For sure man. Over the past year, I've read about Washington working his butt off, listening to coaches etc. After today, just the way he spoke to me, a complete stranger confirmed all the positive things we have heard about him.

Nearly all of those instances were mild compared to the '90s.....

Disagree, some of these characters turned out to be as bad or worse than anything in the 90s. We don't need to argue and bring back things that we'd all like to forget, but Cronin has recruited his share of idiots too. To say that this has been largely absent under him is a false statement. I've said all that I will say on this topic.

Good enough...agree to disagree.

Moving on....
