So how is Scott getting to his lofty status? Leaving guys like Tobler out...
Leads the team in FG%. 2nd in rebounds per 40 mins. 2nd in points per 40 mins. Tied for 1st in TO's at zero (with Cumberland) per 40 mins. First in blocks per 40 minutes. 1st in PF's per 40 minutes.
Not a bad way to start the year and earn yourself more time on the court!! Would like to see more assists per 40 minutes since he is known as a great passer as well as more steals. These are the type of minutes we need from our back up big. Well done so far Tre!!
I'm surprised JJ isn't grading out better than this shows. He's been solid in my opinion.
This definitely tells the tale for KJ. Brutal.
Good to see Scott where he is. I think Cumberland will progress as we go. It's starting to shape up to be 7 or 8 deep. 8 because we know KJ will continue to get minutes.
Never again can anyone ever say Cronin doesn't play and start guys simply bc they're seniors. There is not one single reason other than that, that Johnson should see the floor...let alone start and play over half the game. It's honestly not even fair to Kevin Johnson anymore. It makes me so mad bc this isn't freaking grade school. It's supposed to be major D1 College Basketball. Some guys just aren't good enough. I don't remember Nyarsuk starting every game. Quadri Moore won't. So why is it any different for Johnson? Why is he allowed to play the way he does for years with zero consequence? Coach demands toughness, but isn't tough enough himself to bench a guy he likes when they're hurting the team in every way when on the floor.
I don't think it's fair to more effective players either. I just hope it starts to work itself out by mid season. Cumberland still has teaching moments on D and the tool coach uses to teach better D is playing time. Jenifer seems to be playing better D so I would hope at least he can eat some KJ time and then Cumberland later on in the season start to eat more of that time.
I really hope it gets down to around 15 minutes per game (or less) at some point by mid to late season. Cumberland is coachable so I think it's possible.
Cumberland has the best change of pace and pump fake of any bearcat since Logan
The big difference between Cumberland and kj turnovers, I'm not looking at the stats right now but I'm willing to bet kj's are a lot and Cumberlands are little.
Now is the time to really prep Cumberland for the grind. We have Samford, Lipscomb, Bowling Green, Texas Southern, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Marshall coming up in the next 8 games. Great chance for him to learn some things through experience.
