2016 General Recruiting

Jermaine Tate has another son named Jalen. He is a 6'5" SF in Class of 2016. Says on Rivals that his only offer is Kent State but Iowa and Ohio State have interest. Why wouldn't we recruit him? I know his brother was more highly rated, but we aren't even giving him a look?

Unlikely. Also, even if it was, probably wouldn't matter since 1) he doesn't play basketball (at least from what I could gather) and 2) he is already committed to a school.

Has anyone heard anything on Alkins recently? Haven't seen anything in a couple of months on him, especially since all of the Cumberland mentions. Either recruit would be a great get (if it is one or the other), just curious since nothing on Alkins has been brought up recently.

I would say for 2016, Nick Ward and Jarron Cumberland. Not really sure on anyone else Mick is recruiting for this class.

I would be very happy landing 2 talented prospects out of Ohio. Not sure on our chances with Nick Ward. With offers from O$U and Mich. St. Hopefully he wants a little distance away from Columbus and likes that drive down 71...

This class is going to be huge for our future. We have 6 scholarships between now and next year's class. And NTS said they may stop the grad transfer loophole. That could put a huge hit on spring recruiting. We should be getting commitments from 4-5 good players in the next 6 months. Nick Ward and Cumberland are must gets imo.

We still have to compete with Ohio State and Dayton but would say we have a good shot. 2016 class is huge for us considering the fact we have a good chance at Ward, Cumberland and Davis with an outside chance at Atkins.

Ohio State got a commitment from a power forward or center about a week ago

Michigan State just got a center as well.

Edit: Well, they landed Caleb Swanigan, a 2015 player. They also have another top 30 PF coming in for 2015. I wonder if that sways Nick Ward away from Michigan State at all. Hopefully it does. I think we have a really good shot at landing him.

Per source, Harvard has offered 2016 Norman North (Ok) Lindy Waters. UNC, Cincinnati, and Houston showing new interest @ny2lasports

“I’ll be looking at how the coaches develop the players and the coaching staff that they have,” he said. “Things like academics and campus life, just the feel of the place, will also be important I think.Ideally, I’d also go to a program that really fits how I play: lots of man-to-man and an uptempo style."

Welp.

We changed our style to that type of play at the end of the season we still got a chance

We were back to under 55 ppg in regulation in the 3 postseason games.

Gotta scrap the zone. It may help us win a 50 point rock fight against a USF type team in January (!!!), but we lose in the long run. No players with real NBA aspirations want to play zone. Lol it just reminds me of playing zone in 3rd grade and having the coaches yell to keep our hands up (I know, I know, UC's zone is more complex).
