How many of those Final 4 runs has UC had in the last 50 years? ONE.....so no you shouldn't expect that yearly.

That argument is so old...the point is that it's evident that almost every year from 1991-2005 the Bearcats had a shot to go far in the tourney. For all the "1 Final Four in 50 years haters"...another way to look at it is that 25% of the time they went to the Sweet 16. And if not for a handful of traditional Cincinnati bad luck (Kenyon's Injury, West Virginia Hail Mary, Iowa State ending) that number is almost 50%.

A program that is one of the Top 20 winningest programs in college ball history should absolutely expect to make a tourney run almost every year.

Not to beat a dead horse but you said "until Mick raises the bar", you won't be expecting any Final 4 runs. My point is that bar has only been raised once in over 50 years. This program will never again be a perennial F4 team like it was in the 50-60's. They may make one every now and then but I wouldn't hold my breath regardless of who the coach is.

He also said "or yearly conference championships". And we did have a 13 year stretch much more recently (and in a similar type conference) where we had 8 Conference Tournament Championships and 10 regular season Conference Titles.

2011-12 he was at Columbia University. He sat 2012-13 with an injury. Transferred to Rider and sat out the 2013-2014 season. Transferred to St Joes and sat out 2014-2015 season. Tore Achilles and sat out 2015-2016 season. So hasnt played college basketball since 2011-2012 season

Fair enough...then let me rephrase that. Whether we got there or not...there was about a 10-15 year stretch where I thought we had a legitimate chance to make a Final Four run about every other year. I haven't expected that in the Cronin era once. We haven't had the type of all around team I thought had the necessary tools to get there.

Last year I thought was one of Cronin's 2 best teams. Even if they performed to their potential...they were not Final Four caliber teams. You can downplay it however you like...but the legitimate expectations are so much different now for myself.

I'll take 42% from 3! I read somewhere Gonzaga is going to be in the mix.

I wonder if Charles Buggs would be an upgrade from what we already have...

Could be a fit. We need some back-up minutes at the 4/5 and he doesn't seem like someone who would come in and think he deserves 25 minutes a game.

Whos to say he didnt spend all last year in practice earning his spot?

not to mention he is competing with a freshmen in Brooks and Quad for the starting spot. If they did add Buggs, I guess they would compete in practice for the starting job yes. but edge still goes to washington for spending an entire season with the playbook and he impressed more in the ACC than Buggs did in the weaker Big10 conference

He has practiced with the team for over a year. I'd say the staff has a good idea about his game.

How does Gonzaga attract one of the best players from a big conference and Top 25 team with NBA players? They play in high schools gyms in the WCC. Weird how they can make it work.

Maybe next year they won't carry so many open scholarships into the spring.
