There's a better chance of Adam Hrycaniuk getting another year of eligibility and starting than there is Quad starts. Let's get real.

I do think Cumberland could pass up KJ as the season progresses, but we'll have to see. Not that it matters, but I assume Evans would be at the wing, with Cumberland at SG.

Cronin will be very slow to start Cumberland over Johnson, even if Cumberland is hands down the better player. We know that much.

As for Moore, I can't get excited about him being anything more than a backup 5. If he's our biggest guy on the court at times, we could actually be decent at spacing the floor. But i'd rather go small and play Evans at the 4, than ever have Moore play there (honestly Evans is probably a better rebounder to boot).

Considering how good of a rebounder Gary is, that could be really big for us. We gave up too many offensive boards last year.

I expect washington to bean upgrade from ellis. Strength-washington. Footwork-washington. Touch-washington. Jump shot-washington. Passing-washington. Both pretty athletic but kyle just seems like a very solid all around big man, seems very vocal as well. Troy will benefit from kyles shooting ability as he will spread the floor, if Gary becomes a consistent threat shooting that mid range troy and evans should have field days attaching an open line. They can't settle for threes this year. Attack! And run troy and jacob are both good finishers in transitions so is Gary no reason we shouldn't be out running

I don't see Washington as upgrade over ellis or deberry. Need a 5 that pnr and rim protects.

We'll really miss the rim protection and help defense that Ellis offered imo. Definitely agree that Washington could be more polished all around (I wouldn't be so quick to give him the passing edge though).

Why wouldn't he coach
Because Washington is a better player. While you may think that is debatable we will have our answer as to who is right when the season starts. Actually I hope Moore is capable of pushing for Washington's minutes but I really don't see that happening assistant Coach

Fair enough...then let me rephrase that. Whether we got there or not...there was about a 10-15 year stretch where I thought we had a legitimate chance to make a Final Four run about every other year. I haven't expected that in the Cronin era once. We haven't had the type of all around team I thought had the necessary tools to get there.

Last year I thought was one of Cronin's 2 best teams. Even if they performed to their potential...they were not Final Four caliber teams. You can downplay it however you like...but the legitimate expectations are so much different now for myself.

Ok, but regardless of how you felt or whatever your expectations, there still has only been 1 F4 run around here in 50+ years. Conference championships are ok to hang a banner but in reality are worthless except for bragging rights. XU for all its success the past decade or so, is still searching for its 1st F4. Now are Mick's teams difficult to watch offensively? No question. But Final 4 runs are not realistic--they can happen out of the blue when Huggins got there in year 3 (I think) but we'll be lucky to see another in our lifetime regardless of who is UC's HC. I wish it weren't so , but it is.

I agree ellis rim protection will be missed a little, but clark is a great rim protector himself at the forward position I think kyle will do solid in that category. I just thought ellis was weak at times in his post defense and I see kyle standing his ground a little better. Also felt ellis panicked at times and made bad passes I mean he lead the team in turnovers...as a center, so Im a least hoping he is a better passer

and you think Moore is a rim protector??? I'll make you a wager that Washington has more blocked shots and rebounds then Moore next year.
nah moore with minutes could score 10+ game easily. Moore defense and rebounding terrible so unless he works hard this summer im passing on that bet. I'll wager JJ has more steals and 3pts made than kj though???

personally, If Moore starts over washington, that means we wont be very good this year. So, in the thinking we will be good. Washington will be the starter. Thats my take on it
Only reason why folks going with Washington over moore. His offense probably best in post on team if defense improves look out.

No its not. He doesnt have any post moves. Which is why he often settles or shoots jump shots. His back to the basket game has been fairly poor.

I think everyone has gone with Washington because of his ability to play in the ACC and put up decent numbers.

Ill take that KJ/ JJ bet anyday

Like I said...it's not so much about having to get there as it is feeling like we have a "legitimate" chance to. I would be happy with just feeling like a contender again even if we don't get to the Final Four

Same here.

I really thought that we would sign at least one more quality player for the upcoming year, and we still might. My question is how much did the UNLV job damage this years recruiting. As a whole I think the new players are pretty talented (Scott-Washington-Cumberland-Brooks-Broome). I know they are different classes but haven't played yet. Would love to see a couple of early commitments -high school- for 2017 soon.
