Conference Expansion

I have not seen any indication that expansion within the Big 12 is going to take place--all talk! Many UC fans are becoming disheartened by this, and I am afraid they will lose enthusiasm for the program in general.

Wow what a glowing first post! Ha just messing with ya :D

I know exactly what you mean though. Sometimes when you want something so badly, you will latch on to any piece of information and twist the words to make it fit your agenda. People claiming to have insiders and this and that don't understand, this kind of information just doesn't get leaked. Many are beginning to reach delusional status. The amount of fans that took Ono's tweet yesterday about having 1,100 followers in the state of Kansas as a sign that we are moving to the Big 12 is comical.

MONEY TALKS

Is there any way the Bearcats could buy their way into a conference? Sounds crazy, and maybe it is, but Bob Goin sort of bought our way into the Humanitarian Bowl years ago. UC probably doesn't have the money even if it could. What I was thinking about is the Big 12. Offer to give up the TV money for several years, in order that the teams in the Big 12 don't lose money, gives them the opportunity to have a championship game, helps WV, etc. Make UC a viable acquisition--recruiting area, TV money etc. I just cannot bear the fact that other schools and conferences can thumb their noses at us!

College Wrestling

If only UC had a wrestling team.

BIG 12 CONFERENCE
STILLWATER, OK – According to many reports, and Oklahoma State wrestling Head Coach John Smith, the Big 12 is adding 6 wrestling programs to the conference.

North Dakota State, Utah Valley, Wyoming, South Dakota State, Northern Colorado, and Air Force are joining the Big 12, and will begin competition in the conference next season.

The new 10 team league means the Big 12 will once again have an automatic qualifying tournament for the NCAA tournament.

The 6 new teams join Iowa State, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

As I've said all along (shocker: I am correct yet again).

Total sidebar but if you're a fan of BYU-Cincy-Memphis-UConn-UCF Bowlsby was clear that expansion isn't happening. Big 12 very dug in at 10

Just a messenger... A poster on a Cleveland browns website (scout.com) says they know someone at WVU and Cincinnati and ECU will be added to big 12 in a month. Both will join at reduced revenue until new tv contract. Take with large grain of salt, but no inherent reason to lie about UC on browns blog. Post is public if you want to navigate to the watercooler blog on scout.com/browns.

As much as I want to believe this, ECU just makes no sense. Hopefully that person really does have some insight.

LMAO!!

I think it's probably safe to say that rumor is a complete fabrication. I'm not going to say the guy who wrote the posting doesn't have a buddy who told him this but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it is complete BS.

The truth of the matter here is that no one will know about it when/if it happens and most certainly not some moron in the WVU athletic department who would turn around and tell his message board posting friend. That being said I also don't believe a word that comes out of Bob Bowlsby's mouth or the Big 12 in general. They'll sit pat and claim they don't want to add any members right up to the point that the invitation arrives in our mailbox. Outside of the Big 12 school presidents, boards of regents and AD's no one is going to know about this until it happens.

Think back to every recent announcement that's been made about realignment. The Syracuse and Pitt announcement came out of nowhere on a random Saturday morning, same thing with the Maryland and Rutgers announcement. No one talking on the message boards has any clue what the heck they're talking about, it's all just speculation, so enjoy the speculating and have fun with it but don't confuse it for reality.

ECU makes a lot of sense. First of all, next to Florida, Texas and California, North Carolina had more high school football division one signees that anyone including Ohio. Secondly, rabid fan base filling the large new stadium game after game. Third, in the heart of ACC/SEC country. Fourth great state and region. Solid football program last 10 years. Good school with large medical school and law school. Make any sense now?
