Agree. Recruits look good. Of the ones we have seen play, they all look like they can contribute something. Would probably be more beneficial if this was a complete rebuilding year, where all the young guys could get playing time but we have to try to win.

Yea, unfortunately that’s coaching nowadays. It’s win quick or you’re out. I’m not overly defending Brannen because I think he makes some odd choices. But I could only imagine the fan base if he had gone the full rebuild mode.

Yeah, also 2 of the weirdest years in college basketball history happen to be his first 2 years. Jarrons hurt the whole year last year. He hasn’t done great but can only imagine what trying to build a new program during this is like. Also xavier has played 5 games, to our 1 game. Just odd circumstances

We will be much better than 500 this year and should compete for a conference championship again. Eason is as advertised. Williams will emerge to be All-conference and DJ looks great. Brannen will make sure they sort it out because he is a great coach. I can certainly do without seeing anymore of Vogt but he likely will come in handy to bang down low against weak competition.

Yeah, we should be right in the conference race again. Memphis is always Memphis and Houston always finds a way to come back to the pack. There were positives today but the negatives overshadowed them.

Just seen Vogt had 1 rebound in 32 minutes. I’m not expected much from Vogt but man.... I honestly think I could get more than one rebound in 32 minutes and I haven’t touch a ball in 10 years. Need to limit his minutes

Problem is him in the low post is a bucket... What are we replacing him with? It's not dou. So dont go there

He hasn’t really been tearing it up, scoring wise. I like Vogt but I don’t think he needs to play 30+ minutes. 20 minutes tops. Play with 1 big and 4 guard/wings. We have good size wings. Not many teams have traditional bigs anyway. Go rap, Davenport. Rap, Eason. Put Eason at the 5 with Harvey as a 4. Dou with 4 wing/guards. That why we can press or switch on defense. No reason he should play that much

If vogt in he needs touches and post ups. Dudes missed two shots in two games. He plays a huge role. Need him in 1 on 1 post ups.

He’s not great at getting the ball and he has to get it in a certain spot. Once again, I like Vogt, I would just like to see them try different things, instead of riding or dying with Vogt playing 30 minutes. Can’t have 1 rebound and be bad defensively.

Harvey was arguably the best player against Lipscomb and plays 4 minutes today

Yeah, thought he was great against lipscomb. I thought he was our best player behind maw. His defense is always good. I don’t understand his playing time. Unless it’s an injury thing.

Yup, Vogt is really, really good at scoring in the post if he gets the ball 5 feet or closer from the basket.

But he isn't actually good at getting the ball in that location. How many more points per game does Vogt provide than a mediocre offensive player? I'd guess around 5 points, since quite a few of Vogt's finishes are uncontested and not because he is a particularly good finisher.

How much value does Vogt give to the offense because of the threat that he? That is the big question, but I'd be glad to find out. I don't think it's much. A player who can actually move and shoot the ball would fit much better into Brannen's offense. I can tell you that Eason or Diarra would probably have had 5+ offensive rebounds, which helps the offense out in it's own way.

Vogt is below average to bad in every other aspect of the game. He's a horrible rebounder, bad at defense, not great at passing and can't dribble.

Diarra had a good run the last month of last season, he is capable. Just put him at the 5, don't have him play the 4 and give him some time to figure it out and he will get there. Sure he will make some obvious mistakes, but he will make up for it with rebounding and defense. He obviously has trouble switching roles up, but last year when Brannen started playing him only at the 5 he settled down and played better than Vogt.

Eason would be a small 5 and makes plenty of mistakes, but would bring both offensive and defensive ability, just have to give him time to figure it out.

Rap is pretty much Vogt light in terms of defense and rebounding. But he brings a much more varied offensive skill-set. Unfortunately, his offensive skill-set does not include much interior scoring. He seems to want to play like a 6'11" guard and that hasn't worked out great.

I'd be willing to give it a run with any of those guys at the 5. Vogt is not going to get better and without the cake teams for him to feast on, he is going to put up a horrible stat-line this year. He got one rebound when he had a 4-5" and 30lb advantage on his man.

The problem with your argument is your love for diarra. You’re blinded by it. He’s been here 4 years and had a good 4 games. And you want to hand the keys to him and live with the results. I think your other arguments are valid. I would try Eason and rap or something. I do think he is trying to ease Eason in to playing a lot more. It just seems like mick ball, or old fashion to have to have two bigs on the floor. Villanova has been playing 4 guards for15 years and have been pretty good at it

It's not so much love for Diarra as dislike of Vogt. I've been on the anti-Vogt train since the train started running. Vogt is a one trick pony.

Diarra makes some dumb mistakes, but Vogt gives up as many if not more points by not rebounding and playing bad defense. It's just that Vogt's problems are less obvious because they are on the defensive end.

Diarra had a run of a month and a half last season, where he was consistently outplaying Vogt. Diarra has issues yes, but it seems like they are mostly mental. Put him at the 5 so he only has to worry about playing at one position and give him a stretch of 10 minutes straight so he can start playing and stop thinking.

If I had my way I'd gladly trade Vogt for Nsoseme, but were stuck with who we've got. Eason and Diarra are going to be mistake prone, but have a lot more potential. Vogt is going to be a below average center. Rap could be better than Vogt, but he isn't mobile enough to play the 4 and was a disaster on defense in the short time he played the 5 this game.

If we are going to have problems at center, I'd rather have them be with Diarra/Eason, they will be here next year and have more potential to become great players than Vogt/Rap.

Diarra will never be a great player. He has zero basketball iq... if he did he wouldn’t be riding the bench here. I would take rap all day everyday over diarra.

Well.. it was MAW...

But I would venture to guess Harvey has an attitude issue. Him transferring wouldn't shock me

Easons going to have to learn real quick. Mistakes aside he is clearly better than perhaps all the bigs overall. Xavier adjusted at half and we didn’t do that as well. We took way too many ill advised 3 balls. Rap and Williams mainly. Defense is still pretty bad. Saunders if he wasn’t as small as DD could help and maybe we will have to try it. I have more questions now than after first game. Harvey is not a good development. Ughh!!!

You talk about diarra’s potential, he’s like 23 years old and been in the program for 4 years. What do you think is going to happen with him? If he was able to become a great player it would be something that has rarely been seen from any player. Players usually don’t become great after 4 years of doing nothing.
