If it is Fickell, it's not off to a good start considering half the fans want someone else and half the fans only want him bc of Coombs.

@Chadbrendel
I'm told Mike Bohn and staff are working late tonight on search. Source says they have not entered in to negotiations with any candidate yet

*I keep getting caught up in the riff raff bc I'm not patient enough to wait for Chad's updates.

@Dave_Berk
Add two more names to watch @ Cincinnati along with Luke Fickell. Hearing Neal Brown and Scott Satterfield could still be in the mix.

Guy is a recruiting analyst.

Thanks for the kind words Jacob. This has been an exhausting process with a few naps mixed in. My body is going to shut down on me at some point... lol

So much for a light finals week with no basketball game.

These kind of situations really separate the media outlets that are worth something and the ones that aren't. I'm stunned that 700 is so slanted. I thought they were too big to be so blatantly biased and in the tank for certain outcomes. The sad thing is, they don't give a crap about Fickell. They have an audience that wants Coombs, so they push as hard as they have to to ram it home. It's one thing if fans do that, but people are looking for trustworthy information. BCJ has done laps around these other outlets when it comes to delivering accurate info. I'm sure you could float stuff out to appease a niche audience and get a few more clicks, but the people knowing you're above that is what's going to keep you in the business for the long run. Keep up the great work! You can rest when you're dead...

@ChadBrendel
After some more digging tonight I'm confident in saying Neil Brown will not be the next head coach at Cincinnati.

:( :( :( :(

Let's go Scott Satterfield! Honestly at this point I don't care anymore. I might as well start getting behind Fickell.

Man, is UC that unattractive as a job now? TT really did some work.

On all the other UC boards they REALLY don't like Neal Brown and said he'd be an awful fit.

Houston and South Florida seem to be doing alright through the process. Not sure what Temple has going. But I don't know why it'd be so much harder for us. Maybe we said no to Brown.

Well when Troy goes to their conference chanpionship game next year, we'll see what they have to say. There's a portion of our fan base that listens to Lance McAlister and never goes more than 10 miles outside of Cincinnati. They crap on anyone who isn't connected to Kerry Coombs. I'm confident that I know my college football. Will be interested to see where Neal Brown is in 5 years compared to whoever we get.

Big question for me with a guy like Fickell...what's more likely in 4 years? We are looking for a new coach again bc they went to a top job in the country? Or bc things didn't work out? Fickell just seems like an easy, safe Sally choice. Bohn specifically said in an interview Sunday that he wanted a young up and coming offensive minded coach...somehow we might end up with an old school, hardass, defensive-minded coach? Maybe we'll find out that our options were more limited than we'd like to believe at this point. Not sure why that'd be the case, but who knows. Either way, doesn't make Bohn look all that competent.

That's because most people are stupid. I'm sure most of them gave extensive reasons for why he's a "awful fit".
Like jacob said, alot of our fan base listens to Lance Mcalistar and Mo Egger. When you're basing any of your football knowledge off stuff those two guys say you're going to have a lot of dumb sounding people.

I think, unfortunately, we're going to find that the Cincinnati job is not as highly desired as we want it to be when this is all over. Up and coming coaches look at the situation here and don't see it as a better stepping stone than their current job. New P5 jobs are going to open up every year. What's one more year of making 100,000's of thousands of dollars when the reward is millons at the next P5 school who thinks it's football team in underachieving?

That could certainly be the case. There isn't a great track record of non-AAC coaches from G5 getting great P5 jobs though. And schools that pay less and hadn't been on our level pre-Tuberville aren't having much trouble landing quality coaches. I'm sure we'll learn more as this all unfolds.

Last I checked Houston still didn't have a coach and they have been open longer than the UC job has been. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are doing alright. I'm guessing their fan base is having a meltdown at this point. South Florida has zeroed in at Charlie Strong. I'm not going to lose any sleep over that. To be fair, I don't think we can comment on how desirable this job is until all the dust settles. It looks more and more like Fleck is delusional thinking he is going to go from W. Michigan to Notre Dame or some other major high profile job. He didn't even get considered for Oregon. I'm patiently waiting but no where near ready to jump off a bridge.

It's still a high paying gig with a good recent history pre TT. Facilities are great. We are at the top of the list in G5 for inclusion to P5.

We should get a candidate with great potential! As long as our AD is competent...

The rumor is he doesn't like to recruit and has no personality. His staff is all southern guys.
