Marquette vs. UC

I didn't think they stood a chance without Cash so I'll take a win any way it comes.

As for Buzz, I've always liked him. He is very animated but he shows his passion. Plus, it's not his fault he gets away with that stuff. The refs should have t'd him up earlier in the game. One timeout was about 10 minutes long because they just let Buzz do whatever he wanted. I don't blame Buzz, I blame the refs (who were awful for both sides).

Under the circumstances, yes. Permanent solution, no. But good enough for the w, most importantly.

When Cash was a Sophomore there were a lot of questions about him not being good enough for the job too. On top of that, there were a lot of fans that wanted Parker sent packing. Two years later that all seems ridiculous. No idea how good Guyn ends up being, but I know it's too early to say he's not the guy.

Sorry, I should've stated it better, he isn't a permanent solution THIS YEAR, that's what I meant.

My argument would be that Cash actually played the PG role during his struggles...Guyn still refuses to run the offense...there was a time tonight where David N had the ball out past the elbow, looking to pass someone the ball, and Guyn sat in the corner waiting for his shot...Cash has always had the PG mindset and I just don't see that in Guyn...it will be interesting to see, but I will not be surprised if Caupin earns the PG role next year

Oh and I'm pulling for Oregon against UCLA. Every win for them is a win for UC.

After we beat them I thought they had a good chance of being a tournament team. I never imagined the win potentially being as good as the UNLV win would have been. Dana Altman is doing a great job.

Productive day for the tournament resume...

4 top 50 wins (only Duke, Arizona, Kansas, and New Mexico have more)

Yep, and 2 other wins Pitt (57) and Alabama (60) that are close.

Without Cash, they won because of the coaching genius of my man Mick Cronin.

Love this quote from TRub:

"I just want to say thank you to all of our fans and keep coming and showing us support. We are working hard for y'all and keep showing us support and thank you. We love y'all."

Mick beats Buzz without star player. I believe some credit due?

Why would someone who derives more pleasure in a UC loss than a win want to give credit to Cronin. There are a flurry of posts after losses, but crickets after a win. Here my hierarchy:

Mick > Buzz > Armchair coaches on message boards > Brain dead posters > Ralph and BearcatMick > A rock >>>mplebanon

Yes I thought Mick coached a good game and understood what he as working with and what he needed to do for a win. While I may not always agree with him in how the team plays, Mick is a very good game planner. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for that. I just feel mentally this was a big win for UC.

Holy crap. I was avoiding this message board because I thought it would be filled with negativity about lack of offensive options and a fluid offense. Thankfully, I have not read that. Nice job BearcatTalk.

Unbelievably tough win for our team and amazing they did it without Cash. I'm proud of our guys. This win was best case scenario. Cash got to rest AND we got the W in the face of a road game against Syracuse that just knocked off Louisville. Awesome job. The effort was there. Some dumb plays mixed in...none of which were due to laziness or a lack of heart. SK did what he needed to do (shoot early and often) and the rest of our guys took turns stepping up.

jeff most fan bases probably feel exactly as you do at some point and time about their coach. Fact is when considering all the obstacles he had to overcome to get the program to this point it is amazing. Like many I wish the rebuilding never had to occur. Fact is it did and mick was a great hire. He's loyal, much more knowledgeable then people want to believe and his kids play hard for him. We are lucky to have him. His star is on the rise nationally and that bodes well for the program. When you consider what he's accomplished in the toughest league in America in a short amount of time it's incredible. BE isn't the metro or conference USA. He is running with the big dogs and doing very well.

I'll give credit.

Mick finally did a good coaching job.

Nice job by all.

I still feel Buzz is a better coach though. Mick beat him this time though.

I don't know how Buzz is a better coach since he never actually coaches while on the court. He is constantly on the refs bitching about everything, even during timeouts or stops in play. Dude is way worse than Huggins ever was.

This win allows us a little breathing room. Big difference between heading into the carrier at 4-2 instead of 3-3.
