espn shapes the national opinion on a team whether we like it or not. i agree about the "win and prove them wrong" concept. its the best response to any questions. however uc has been a bubble team in mid-february the last two years instead of an elite team and teams in their spot need positive publicity because they are not winning at an elite clip.

Completely disagree. First off, Knight isn't on gameday because ESPN is afraid what he might say on live television. Even so, he still does solid games during the week.

No doubt ESPN is a massive influence in college basketball, but to say that a coach making fun of Gottlieb is really going to negatively affect a program seems like a severe overstatement to me.

not saying that one particular shot will negatively affect the program, I'm saying setting a precedent as a guy who takes shots at espn guys can.
 
Doug went back and deleted all of his tweets related to this, including the original "google his stats" and the others that the above quoted.
 
Again. This is why Mick annoys me sometimes. Just shut up and keep winning. There's no need to start 'feuds' with analysts and 'bracketologists'. It puts more pressure on himself and the team
 
Completely disagree!!! MC is standing up for his team. H is also using the lack of respect to motivate his guys. Why would there be pressure on The Cats. Nobody xpects them to win anyway. ESPN has a article about the BET and it absolutely ignores the Cats. Has us still on the bubble and needing a win. Have no doubt that all the players love the fact the Coach has there back and will respond accordingly. As far as MC annoying try focusing on the fact he has brought this team back from a self imposed death penalty.

I have no problem with him doing it internally. In fact, I encourage the chip on the shoulder/us vs the world mentality.

But when he goes out in public and constantly beats that drum, it sounds like he's whining.
 
I don't think he is whinning at all. He is taking up for his team and using it to motivate. He is also getting his side of the issue out to the public which doesn't hurt national exposure and helps with recruiting. Sounds to me like your fishing. Trying to find a negative when there is none. It has been a very good year for the Cats. Second in a row. The direction of the program is pointing up. MC has done a great job and he is still growing as well.
 
MC has done a first rate job. If I sound a little protective of MC it is because many in his own home town have absolutely been horrendous to him and his family. Since day one, the insults not just as they pertained to his coaching but if you had read any of the other comment boards such as the cincy.com the attacks got very personal. Even mentioning his Divorce. He was left to clean up a mess created by the previous staff and administration. He has done that very well. He coaches,recruits and sets a high mark for persoonal conduct. His players understand it is a privilage to be awarded a scholarship at a major university. He also has put a winner on the court. The future of UC basketball is bright largely due to his efforts. Quite frankly if I was treated as bad as him and NC St or Oklahoma had come calling I may have bolted. He stayed!!!
 
Mick is easily one of the best coaches in the country. We are lucky to have him. He will go down as an all time great in college bball

Come on now. I think Mick has done a great job this year- but you are saying if he retired today he would be one of the greats. I'd like you to back this up.
 
I have no issue with calling out Lunardi, Palm, Gottleib, or anyone else. I tend to agree with him anyway. Keep firing away Mick!
