Obviously, Tom Crean inherited a similar situation at Indiana, was 6-25 in his 1st year, but was 27-9 in year 4, with a trip to the Sweet 16, won the Big Ten Championship outright in year 5, along with getting to the #1 ranking in the nation, and a 29-7 record, and another sweet 16 appearance. He also has landed some big-time recruits along the way. During our 15 or so years in the nineties and early 2000s, we consistently were ranked higher and out-performed IU. So, I believe he performed the way that any great coach would have performed and he has that program back near the top in a reasonable amount of time.
A few years ago, people on these sites would routinely bring up Crean to support their argument for Mick. It was because Mick out-performed him in the 1st three years. Now we never hear Crean's name mentioned anymore for some strange reason. Wonder why?
