Its been said over and over by every head figure at UC. There is no chance they are tapping into Burnett Woods. No chance...none...not gonna happen...Nada.

UC AD Mike Bohn said there have been talks about Mick Cronin contract extension, but nothing is done as of today.

Joe Danneman ‏@FOX19Joe 1h
Cronin on those contract talks: "I'll sign on for as many years that are put in front of me...it's not like I'm going to turn that down."

Joe Danneman ‏@FOX19Joe 1h
Cronin: "I also have hopes and dreams...for facility upgrades. And, some focus shifting from our administration on doing things..." (1/2)

Joe Danneman ‏@FOX19Joe 1h
Cronin (CONT): "For the men's basketball program...allowing us to compete with what's going on around us."

UC AD Mike Bohn says there is activity toward improving basketball arena. Looking at both on campus and downtown. Only talks as of now.

Bohn called improving basketball arena the department's "top priority."

I saw that we are redoing the locker room for about 1.2 million dollars. I don't understand why we would do that when we are either going to move downtown or get a new/renovated arena or campus. Makes no sense.

A renovated locker room might do more for a recruit than a renovated arena. The arena upgrades would be more fan centered.

But we are going to be changing our arena one way or another so why make a small change when we may be going downtown or knocking down or renovating 5/3? If we knock down 5/3 or go downtown the locker room renovation is the same as throwing away 1.2 million dollars.

If the locker room renovation is true (don't know where you heard that info), then that tells me that a decision on where to play is several years away.

Agreed...valid points. I'm just guessing and theorizing. Maybe it's a quick and easy way to appeal to recruits. Bottom line, we're screwed until the football picture clears up.

But we're going to be moving arenas or renovating 5/3. Why spend all that money for something that will only be applicable for a couple years?

What does renovating 5/3 have to do with the locker rooms? Unless they have to tear them out to make room for the concourse or seating, the locker room would likely be untouched during the renovation. It will still be there after the renovation or else they wouldn't dump that much money into it.

If we renovate 5/3 I think we would gut the whole inside.

Most things would stay, like the locker rooms they wouldn't knock down the whole arena. Nice locker rooms, and facilities like that can sometimes make a difference in recruiting, players will be spending a lot of time in there.

I think all speculation on moving downtown is being led by the Nederlander group trying to coax the media into pushing their agenda of getting us down there with our money. If that were going to happen it would've happened. The university has already sold packages for season tickets at 5/3rd for next year and apparently are going through with renovations to the locker rooms. Any arena on campus would probably be a gutting of 5/3rd and a reconfiguration. New locker rooms might be going into a place that wouldn't hinder any plans. And to be honest even if they do move downtown, women's bball and volleyball would still be held at 5/3rd.
