whaaaaaat? Then why do we wait till the defense get set? If you can't get a quick score then back it out to run the offense and try to get a good shot. But why in the world would you not trying to get an easy shot first, I'll never know

Bingo!! Always push the tempo to get there before a defense can be set up. I would even prefer a 2 on 3 or 3 on 4 (with no D set up) than a 5 on 5 with a D set up. If you have to set it back up big deal...we can probably set back up after trying to get a look just as fast as we can get set up by walking it up.

If the coach actually WANTS to push the pace (which doesn't seem to be the case)...and it's not getting done...then we need to start players who will do this.

Absolutely! I heard Mick's comments last night and he acts like he wants to get the ball up the court before the defense sets up. If Caupain is flat out ignoring his instructions, then sit him on the bench for a while and unleash Jenifer. I imagine that you would only have to tell him to run once and he would be off to the races.

Will be interesting to watch next couple games. Will be focused on Troy bringing up the ball for sure. The one thing that worries me is that they'll show a little bit of change in play, hustle and D, then revert right back to lazy, slow down ball. Sadly, I'm not sure if Mick is capable of going away from that type of play.

Not absolving Mick but does it seem like the team abandons gameplans too easily? They ran 3 really nice offensive plays at the start of the game Saturday (1 putback and 2 blown chippies) and then went right back to same old, same old.

Dan Hoard was trying to make it sound like Cronin wants the guys to run but they just don't do it. If that is true, even more reason why Caupain is not a natural PG. I honestly wouldn't mind switching Cobb and Caupain. Cobb has such a better feel for the game imo.

I worry about that too.

Mick is really good behind the microphone. He would make a really good college basketball analyst. I often find myself upset with Mick, but then I always watch his weekly TV show, or listen to his radio show, and he talks me off the cliff almost every time. In other words, he talks a really good game.

Mick just rusty. By March we should see old Mick. Has he got T'd up yet?

Is anyone listening to the radio show? Pretty sure that is Chuck breathing incredibly loud every other second. It's driving me nuts. What the hell man.

Mick said Kenyon Martin will be with the team for the AAC conf. Tourney.

Huge news.
Wow that's great! He must have really enjoyed his impromptu coaching stint this weekend and wants more of it. If anyone can get the players up for the conference tourney it's him. I hope it bodes well for if/when Kenyon wants to get into college coaching.

I think that's awesome! It shows it wasn't just a one time novelty type visit. Our players seem to have responded to hearing what it takes from another former Bearcat perspective (one of the greats). The coach can preach all day but hearing a different perspective seems to have helped. If you're not playing with your heart and soul in every game on every possession you are letting everyone and everything about the program down...fans, yourself, the program history, the city, the jersey, the university, all past players, etc.

Look at Gary Clark and how he has responded. He's really being more assertive and it's great to watch. Coach can tell you to be a beast out there but when Kmart also tells you...you are too good to be passing up opportunities...it's just more validation. Especially when you actually try it on the court and find out they were both right.

Totally agree. It was nice to hear Cronin say, if Clark wants to be the player we all want, he can't just rely on posting up and shooting a little jump hook. He said he tells Gary every day in practice to shoot more.

So Mick tells his player ever day to do something yet he doesn't start doing it until he hears it from Kenyon Martin? Hmmmmmm....really makes you wonder about how much respect these guys actually have for the HC.

Do they respect and believe in him and rally behind him or do they fear him because he micro-manages every aspect of their game?

There seem to be a lot of people here using the same tired excuse that Mick tells his players things but they just don't respond. Well folks, that's a problem and it reflects back on the HC.

To be fair, this wasn't exactly Clark's only breakout game. And Kenyon was there for his 7 pts 4 reb in the Memphis game.
