If I have 7 days to practice against your sets and you have 4 to practice against mine, there is an advantage in preparation. Does that mean I will win? No, but to say more prep time doesn't help (especially with a coach who has won 2 national championships) I think is wrong. Ultimately you have to execute what you practice, something UC failed to do against X from the coaches to the players.
That's why I worded it as logic would tell you. Obviously having more prep time should be an advantage over less, I just don't think it makes as big a difference in reality. I partly was just trying to play devil's advocate as I will do from time to time to get a good debate. But, in the routine of a season (and Bearcat NTS kind of alluded to this) you're used to playing every 3 or 4 days. So at the same time you're used to prepping every 3 or 4 days for a team. And another thing that could happen is having too much time to think about things makes you more tentative, maybe make you overthink things. In football, for example, back-ups usually perform better when coming into a game unprepped than having a week to prepare knowing he's the starter.
