Good. I didnt watch the game but I heard Acy put on a dunk show.

Im sure xavier took double the free throw attempts as them, as well.

I am still unsure about Mack. I know this is setting it up on a tee for Ralph.

I think his easy way into the sweet 16 might cover up how poorly this talented team played post brawl. There were a .500 type of team. He really lost control at points with Lyons and Holloway.

If Lyons returns (I think they need him with current returning players) it will be difficult to handle his antics.

I think the biggest challenge for XU is to replace Kenny. When they played well, Kenny played well. They will always have pretty good gaurds but getting big guys is a challenge. They have always needed to develop them and I am not sure I see any current bigs ready to step in next year.

KCourt, Dontmisshim your thoughts?

I didn't expect to beat Baylor. Walker and Dez were obviously in serious pain, not saying thats why X lost but it didn't help. But, Mack showed some coaching near the end of the season. His adjustments against ND (down 10 with about 8 left) really won X the game. Down 22-4 against Baylor Mack got the team to relax and keep playing and X had multiple chances to tie the game in the second. He has taken Xavier to two sweet 16's in three years. I can live with that.

Everyone knew next year would be a little bit of a rebuilding year, but- with Lyons saying he will be back (in post game interview) and some good signs from the freshman late in the season I would be shocked at anything less then making the tournament. Dez and Mark will be a solid back court, and it never hurts returning two of the teams top 3 players. Also some rumors on the A-10 board that Uconn center is visiting Xavier next week- that is the glaring weakness for X. He would be a good fit. If he came expectations would obviously be higher.

Also- another note on Lyons- everyone said he took the leadership role late in the year, I am sure that will translate to next season as well.

I would fully assume Lyons is coming back because he has no where else to go except over seas. I think Lyons is a straight punk as$ would probably got picked on as a kid BC he acts like a little bitch. The kid never shuts his mouth and act like he is vice lord. I hope he stays so we can spank his baby as$ next year.

There were rumors he might use the grad school transfer thing and go to St. Johns (he is from NY). No doubt, he is more talented then Holloway.

I do not expect UC to play XU next year. Mark Painter and Mick Cronin are black balling them from the schedule.

Oriakhi is visiting X? No offense but that sounds really random. I'd be stunned if he ended up there.

I would, too. But you never know. The guy wants playing time- Xavier can offer that and he knows X will be in the tournament next season. Not so sure about st. Johns. I don't think it would be a bad situation for him as he would be a key part of the team- and with him, Lyons, and Dez- Xavier could make a small run in the tournament but I would be surprised if decides on Xavier.

Regardless, I am hoping Dez spends some time in the gym with Mark over summer- those two could carry X to the tournament.

Rumors are Duke is also interested, Oriakhi is a career under achiever but former 5 star recruits aren't available for transfer whenever you want. He'll probably have his pick of schools across the nation, under achieving big men are always desired.

Xavier will be .500 next year or worse

They're still in the A-10, they'll be over .500. It's interesting because I was having a similar conversation with a X fan and alum the other day about how making the sweet 16 this year could hurt X in the long run because it will mean Mack stays around a little longer. There won't be much talk about getting rid of a guy that's gone to the sweet 16 2 out of 3 years.

And there shouldn't be. While I questioned his coaching at times (most fan bases do) I can't argue with what he has done in the tournament. Still a young coach, he will have time to grow. But, I know what you mean- if for whatever reason he turns out to suck the next few years- for better or worse, he certainly bought himself more time with these past three seasons.

Can you believe the Ralph called UC a low-major? "Only mid-majors hang banners for sweet 16's" ...."UC hangs banners for tournament appearances, now" Pretty telling, IMO.

Ignore Ralph. Please don't respond to him like he is the average UC fan. I believe only championships should be hung but that's just me. Again he is not the average fan...

Seems XU is the home of the dumb jock, all 4 of their incoming "freshman" failed to qualify academically to play from high school and have spent the year in "prep school". Seems to me half of Mack's recruiting classes have failed to play at X in the past.
