is a horrible offensive basketball player. Absolutely horrible. 8 Turnovers tonight. On the season, he averages a turnover every 10 minutes. He shoots 33% from the field and 10% from 3.

I'm so sick of this f-ing guy.

He drives to the hoop with zero plan. 90% of the time, he either (a) turns the ball over, (b) gets called for charging, or (c) stops and turns around.

I hope Lawrence completely supplants him next year.

Agreed. Here's to hoping Lawrence can give us a solid 30 mins next year.

Titus plays good defense and is their best rebounder. How good do you think Behanan would be if Pitino put him at the top of the arc and told him to take his man one on one? Why the hell does Mick think that is a good plan for Rubles. Rubles is out there trying but Mick is screwing with him. Maybe try him on the low post for once. I've seen good post moves from him and he has good vision.

I equally blame Titus and Mick. Mick should have shut done Titus' perimeter dribbling a long time ago. But Titus' decision making is atrocious.

This team needed him to be effective. He simply hasn't been. Rebounds well but that's it.

I will agree with that. They really needed him to produce. I still think he is capable but don't expect it this year, obviously.

That said, is it coincidence that not one of UC's players are playing as well as everyone expected? Parker? Nope. SK? Nope. Cash? Nope. Any of the young players? Nope.

i still like Rubles. He's the only player that wants to rebound. why are we not getting on chek? hes huge and has games where he will get 1 rebound. titus is consistantly in the 7,8,9 board range.

i would love to see him and lawrence on the floor together next year. lawrence's offense and titus's rebounding/defense. i like that length and athleticism. and throw in JJackson.

If im Mick, i tell Titus to shoot the ball 500 times a day this offseason lol. he has to learn how to shoot.

Rubs played poorly tonight, but he gives consistent effort and has an admirable skill set, overall. His shot may be hideous, but it's his first year of high-major college ball. All in all, I think he's done pretty well, considering what he has been asked to do on this team.

This is what I don't understand. He has an admirable skill set...I don't get it. I've read it all year, and he's turned the ball over all year, been out of control and shot like sh*t. Charging, turnovers and no plan generally when he wildly attacks the basket.

This admirable skill set is a shot fake with no shot and presumed dribbling ability even though he averages a turnover every 10 minutes.

Yes he can rebound. I will give you that. And he is not solely responsible for the disappointing season...but it is not good that someone so bad offensively seems to have to be a key cog in our gameplan.

Like I mentioned in the other thread. I think his cons outweigh his pros. He can rebound and play defense. But he has horrible ball skills and decision making. He can shoot 10,000 shots a day in practice, but aint NOBODY going to respect that shot. Its a win for the other team when he hoist one up

He'd be more beneficial close to the basket slamming in put back attempts and posting up 4ft from the basket so he doesnt have to put the ball on the floor

I just did the math. Through the first 29 games (not including tonight's), he averaged a turnover every 14 minutes, while playing 21 minutes per game, on average. A college game is only 40 minutes, as you know. Given his abovementioned turnover rate, he would average a little less than 3 turnovers per game (~2.85), assuming he were to play all 40 minutes. Interestingly enough, a lauded guard like Peyton Siva actually turns the ball over at a higher rate. My point: he played poorly tonight; everyone is entitled to poor games, especially 30 games in.

His ball handling is nothing to scoff at considering his size, although he needs to stay down while dribbling and make himself smaller. He tends to play out of control, at times, which can be fixed with more experience and development. He averages two assists per game, and when playing well, he may be the best passer on the team. Yes, he's made mistakes this season, but as I already stated, he is playing his first season of high-major ball. Let's see how he develops and grows in the offseason before we begin casting stones.

3 different threads for discussing how horrible individual players are kinda says it all.

if you were curious, there is a site that tracks percentage of turnovers for each possession. Rublesis at 23% which is obviously horrible, but somehow he turns it over less often than JJ who has to be among the worst ever at UC at 31%

Ralph's take on Rubles during last years signing period."What a great get he would be for Mick, 2012 class of Rubles and Shaq is awesome (Shaq has 4 years of eligibility left since he was a partial qualifier). I remember fans stupidly getting on Mick because he signed no one in November. Mick is going to sign guys who can play, he is not going to be like the head of the gangsters, Chris Mack, and sign guys just to be signing them." I think he will become a good bench guy next season but will not put up the numbers we had hoped for or needed.

If you pay attention you see Titus is unsure in everything he does. He lives in constant fear on the court. He's afraid to shoot. He gets scared when he drives. His passes are tentative. I still say that with the lack of low post production that Mick needs to go straight 4 guard and play either Thomas or Sanders with Cash, SK, Parker and either Rubles or Jackson. Last night Sanders in 1 less minute than Cheikh had one less rebound. Cheikh blocks shots and that's it. He adds nothing else. He also plays very tentative. Nyarsuk was wide open underneath last night on one play and Parker throws a bullet to him that glances off his hands and out of bounds. Go 4 guards and attack.

Exactly. But Mick wants him outside the 3 point line with the ball in his hands. Jackson sucks from out there too but Mick thinks he's Kevin Durant. Put the players in positions to succeed. None of these guys are good at taking their man one on one.

Agree completely re: Rubles.

Without Mbodj in there they were terrible. Sanders guarding Dieng? Behanan? Harrell? ha!

BTW - that was a terrible pass by Parker. Nyarsuk's hands are worse than bricks but no one knows how to throw a freaking pass. Parker rifles a ball at Nyarsuk from four feet away and expects him to catch it? He's 7'1" for christ sake, throw the ball up in the air. Unfortunately like you mention, bball IQ isn't something this team has.

Longhaul teams do it all the time. They pressure the perimeter to prevent interior passing and negate an inside advantage the other team may have. It isn't about Sanders guarding Dieng, and I never said you don't play Cheikh at all.

Parker was not 4 feet away he was near the top of the key so I don't know what you're saying about that. Nyarsuk shouldn't even play. Gaines should be playing. Gaines is far more athletic and strong. He had 1 point, 2 rebounds (1 offensive) and a steal in 5 minutes. By contrast Nyarsuk gave you 2 points and 5 boards (2 offensive) in 15. Nyarsuk just further demands you play slow. Maybe another offseason of strength training will really help him because he is not strong enough to finish close as it is.

Jeff, Parker was just inside the top of the key and Nyarsuk was just above the low block. It was about a 4 feet pass. It was a terrible pass and Parker knew it. This team makes terrible passes to the bigs all the time. They are a horrible passing team. I said this a long time ago before this losing streak.

DNy is good in some games and bad in some. Mbodj is by far and away the best of the bigs. Gaines is not any good whatsoever. Bad on offense, has no idea where to be on defense and isn't that good of a rebounder. At least Nyarsuk really alters shots even when he doesn't block them....And I don't see how he slows the team down at all. They don't even try to push the ball and even if they tried, why would he slow it down?
