Said he sat out because of a shoulder injury that happened in the second half of the SMU game. Also said if it was an NCAA tournament game he would have played.

Boom. There ya go. I also remember him saying late February that he won't play in the NIT, he didn't go to UConn to play in the NIT. He is a quitter.

Without seeing a medical report on him that is some very harsh speculation. Granted his demeanor and body langauge after the SMU game was bad but wouldn't we be better off not saying anything in this case. Unless I know for sure he isn't injured or all the circumstances surrounding his playing status it might me better to not respond at all. Just saying.....

True we are just speculating, but based on the fact that when he went back into the SMU game after he apparently hurt his shoulder, he seemed to have fine mobility and range of motion in his shoulder, as in I don't think he did more than tweak or slight sprain in his shoulder. We all could be wrong but I will take a wild guess and say that if it was NCAA tourney he would play through whatever injury he had if he could...... if that's true wow what a way to end your career and abandon your team. If he truly is hurt, aka he needs surgery, I'm sorry to hear that for the young man and apologize for inaccurate speculation and hope all goes well in the healing and rehab

Well there you have it. I'm sure all the Uconn fans are very proud of him as are his teammates. What does that do for moral when your best player is on the bench and refuses to play since he doesn't care........

Just because he would play in the NCAA over the NIT doesn't mean he is a quitter. NCAA is way more important and there really isn't much to gain by playing in the NIT. He has a future in basketball, most likely overseas, and I'm sure he doesn't want to risk that playing through an injury for something of little importance. I'm not a Boatright fan but some of you are acting ridiculous.

I get what you're saying and don't disagree. I know we are exaggerating a bit but don't rain on our justification of him being a quitter/sore loser.

I don't blame him one bit. He is letting the guys coming back next year know that the NIT is failure and is below UConn.

They won it all last year. I think they're all aware that the NIT is unacceptable. They didn't need him sitting out to learn that.

I'm with the others. It's not a statement, it's quitting. I'd rather my teammates think it's unacceptable to quit, not make the NIT.

I feel that if you invest 4 years of your life into something you should finish it out. I seriously doubt he would seriously hurt himself playing in the NIT. I think after 4 years most people would feel they owe it to their coach, teammates, fans, and university to finish out their career on a high note. If he really is in a lot of pain then its fine, but if its more of him moping about not making the NCAA it kinda reflects on him as a person. How would we as fans have felt if SK or JJ tweaked a shoulder and didn't want to play in the NIT if we failed to make the NCAA tourney (ridiculous thought because we all know the type of heart and commitment they had)..... would have tarnished my opinion on them

Guys I'm not trying to be the board police but it seems if we want to have a good board with well meaning intelligent discussion, challenging and being judgemental of the Character of kids on other programs is not the way to do it.This is Bearcattalk not some gossip rag. If Boatwright did or didn't want to play that is UCONN's business. Unless I'm certain of all the circumstances surrounding the issue why call him names. How does that help the Cats??? It makes us look petty and silly. JMHO!!!!

OK. Well UConn wins championships, so maybe programs that don't shouldn't get on a high horse. Just saying.

If SK delivered a Championship, I bet we would've supported that decision and all praised him for preserving culture. Look guys, I don't like Boatright either, but c'mon.

MTBU225, How in the world do you know what this tells his teamates. Your speculating. Why???? Why do you feel its all right to call him names without having any facts. What purpose are you serving? What message are you sending out?

Right on, Waite

Why isn't anyone ripping Brimah? He actually did play, but had 0 points and 0 rebounds in 19 minutes...is that somehow better?

Most things on forums are speculation: who's gonna win, what are the keys, what should we change, team moral, etc. with a sprinkling of stats and crazy things NTS finds somewhere lol. But fair enough I shouldn't speculate as to people's emotions or what drives their decisions because you are right, I am not them nor on the team. I guess I was speaking passionately from my perception from the outside and how it appears to me. From my perception only I shouldn't speculate on the character of people, so I will correct my statements. The high horse appearance rubs me the wrong way and I personally don't like it, and that's the way it appears to the general public. That's all i should have said. and jacob doyle, if only we had a championship haha but i'm sure if we were contending for a championship the gods of fate would have broken SK's leg or something like that...... sounds familiar.

Ouch those are pretty horrible numbers haha. If Brimah continues to improve each year he will be a pain to play against. Any idea how his stats are compared to last years?

Ugh. Isn't that the truth!?!?

He went from...
4.1 ppg 3.0 rpg 2.3 bpg to...
9.1 ppg 4.4 rpg 3.5 bpg...

If the same situation happened with Cashmere Wright I would have supported him. Again, Boatright didn't just quit, he was injured. Who knows how much pain he is in, but I know who doesn't know - us. Again, I don't like Boatright per se, but the guy has been tough as nails throughout his career.
