Where does UC go from here?

Not sure where 5 more wins will happen with the history of late season collapses. Mick bitches about attendance and when he get a sell out, his team plays like crap. To answer your question of where does UC go from here, the answer should be on the look for a new head coach.

Drastic overreaction. We sold out X game and beat them by 20. We are 18-4 and 5-4 in Big East. I think we can agree that is not too bad.

But can we all agree that is not really that good either? Can people admit, as of today, this team is a middle of the road, to lower level BE team?

So far we have wins over Seton Hall, Depaul, USF, St. Johns, Rutgers and have lost to every decent opponent. (St. Johns is ok) While we have played some powers, the 2nd half of our schedule features less "easy" conference wins.

Beating X is a decent enough win I guess. I want to always beat them cuz it's X, and I loved it, but I refuse to keep trumping up X as a quality win, when they're slightly down. It goes against everything I stand for. It almost make us no better than they were 10 years ago.

I think we all need to face it, 5 years in, we have a 7-12 ranked BE team. Right smack dab in the middle. Now we just have to figure if they close the year strong to finish closer to 7 and make some people happy, or they tank and finish closer to 12 and all hell beaks lose.

I would have to agree. I believe that until the scoring and intensity get better we will remain the middle of the road.

We are middle of the road big east. I am not saying we are great by any means.

Beating X by 20 and beating St. Johns (looking better and better) are not great wins.

I think we need to have one win we arent expecting. Beating a Pitt, @ Gtown or Uconn and we will be in much better shape. Need to prove we can beat a top 25 caliber team. Even Louisville would be nice.

Right now I can't see this bearcat team winning against uconn georgetown or louisville. I hope I am wrong.

You have to also consider that they are now 1-4 against teams that would make the tournament if it started today.

I agree 100 percent. Not having bad losses is great but you need to get some good wins. We have a whole lot of average wins. We need to win 1 or 2 people don't expect.

They have 2 top 25 rpi wins as of today in Xavier and St. Johns and thats it. After that they don't have another top 50 win according to live-rpi. That's not a good scenario. Fact is they have time and opportunity. It's also a fact they are going to have to play mentally tougher to win them.

I think we will be fine. We did lose a game we all thought was very much in the bag but our RPI seems solid and I do feel the selection commitee will invite 9 from the BE now that it is expanded. Just take care of the games we should win (Depaul, Providence, St. Johns) and the Cats will be dancing. IMO.

Last season, we lost to Notre Dame, Marquette, and South Florida in that fatal month. The season prior, we lost to South Florida, Depaul, and Seton Hall during the same critical stretch. All were games we should have won against teams we were better than IMO. This is a new year however and I am hopeful.

I am definitely envious of Ralphs loyalty, even if his facts are not exactly straight lol. Be confident everyone. I think this is the year we get in, I really do.

You know damn well that's incorrect Ralph.

No kidding.

The Bearcats lost to some absolutely terrible teams down the stretch the last 2 years so either the Bearcats themselves were even worse than that or Ralph is wrong again. Which is it Ralph?

Bearcat_NTS: 2-4... St.Johns and Xavier are both comfortably in the tournament as of today. It doesn't matter though, there is no path to the 8/9 BE wins we will need at minimum without picking up some more quaility wins along the way. 7 of the 9 games left are against projected tourney teams. I believe we'll need 2 of those games to have a shot to dance.

Ralphy is always wrong. He has never once been right in the history of UC sports.

they need to win against St. Johns, Depaul, and Providence. They then will need to win 2 of 3 against UCONN, G'town an UL. If they slip up in any of those they better get on their knees and pray they can beat G'town, Pitt or Marquette on the road. 10-8 will make them in good shape, with this weak of a field and 3 more spots they may sneak in at 9-9.

The bigger question is will them backing into the tournament be a bad thing in the long term (extending Mick)?

Don't expect an answer any time soon.

Why is extending Mick a bad thing? If he gets extended it more than likely means that the programs is continuing to build off of what he has already accomplished in rebuilding the program.

First of all if UC beats SJU, G'town, and Louisville at home they won't be backing in. Throw a victory against UConn in there and they're skipping in smiling. They are projected as a 9 seed and because they lost one game some of you think the whole season has come unraveled. It hasn't! A loss to Providence on the road wouldn't be devastating. One at Depaul would. If Mick Cronin gets this team to the NCAA tournament why would you want to see a change? You have a coach that took a program hit by an atomic bomb and steadily built it back up. If they even play reasonably well they'll end the regular season with 22-23 wins and 9-9 or 10-8 in league play. Can we give this guy some credit please? C'mon, why would you ask this question?

Continuity is the best thing for a program. Especially one that keeps improving. The trajectory is on the right track. The question should be what if we don't make it to the NT? But it's an answer that should wait till this season plays out and we see the end result.
