Some of you guys know I am a xavier fan- most of you dont. (I post here because one of my buddies suggested it and I can talk a little UC i guess)

Time to get some things straight. 1- Xavier owns this city- and has for years. (When was the last time UC made the sweet 16?...let alone the tournament?!). Xavier has been to the elite 8 twice and sweet 16 twice since UC has won a game in the NCAA tournament....uh-oh!! Mick knew this season was his year to show he deserved to stay-hence the schedule. What was it? 335th or something?!!? cooome oonn....thats awful.

The past few years me and my friends have talked and debated if it was wise for Xavier to drop UC from the schedule--most think so. Its a lose lose for the Muskies- UC will never be what they were (which really wasnt much-Huggins last 10 years at UC he made it to the second weekend all of...TWO years-it was time for him to go regardless of off court issues).

Last- and not least- this is rivalry week and all in good fun. I will continue to post (if allowed).

As for the actual game- UC does seem like a "huggins" team- very strong Defense. They are lengthy and athletic- attack the boards real well. I think the overall talent was better last year for UC- but this years team plays with heart and the way Mick wants which is working out for them. People can talk schedule all they want- they have dominated some decent teams (Dayton, SH).

I have seen many of you predict a blow out- it wont happen. Its the cross town and blow outs rarely happen (though first year I had season tickets at Cintas UC blew em outa the water...rough one)

I think the game will come down to two people- Jackson and Lyons. If they each play well- X will win, if either has an "off" night it will be all UC. (Which is a good thing for UC with how inconsistent Lyons is) If lyons is off- UC can and will win by double digits. I am not too worried about the full court D as X has pretty much to PG's on court at all times with Holloway and Lyons (lyons can dribble well...scoring? sometimeS) and I watched the SH game- it looked like their guards got to the lane pretty easily- both Lyons and especially Holloway are very good at that.

I will save my prediction for later- dont attack me- its all in good fun. I will say- Holloway will be the best player on the court, easily.

You should be banned. Period.

I'm not responding to this thread. I challenge all others to do the same.

Just ban him and we can all move on...

Ban him or let the members rip on him??? Espec after the game...

:)

He is no troll. No banning here. We can have X fans here if they keep things civil unlike most of the threads on Xhoops.

Xavier has been better the last couple years but in no way at all do they own the city. They have a small and loyal fanbase much like Dayton.

UC was crushed by poor choices by the administration while X experienced the best years in the schools history.

Lyons and Jackson can play great but I am not sure that will be the difference alone.

I want you to stay but you better be back on here the night after the shootout.

Who exactly has X played that was so good?

Iowa, Wake, and Seton Hall are terrible. Butler isn't very good but solid.

Florida and Gonzaga are decent at best and you lost to them.

1 borderline bad loss in ODU and 1 terrible loss to Miami OH.

Not to mention Wofford should have beat X but they won in triple OT and they lost to an Div II team.

Hahaha You know that is not true. This is a response to UC fans saying that for years. Xavier fans have a hatred for UC that is unmatched. Look at X hoops.com. They are not even talking about the game. They are just attacking Mick and his family. Thats lame IMO. I thought that would end when Huggins left but clearly it hasn't.

Despite the success X is having it seems UC has been recruiting better and are on a good path where Xavier is struggling. Recruits are leaving. Their coach is not doing as well with his own recruits.

I'm fine with the second half of his post but thought the first half was unnecessary. Cycles are the key word in sports. I hate everything Xavier but respect what they've done in recent years.

The fact is that if UC wins consistently this will always be a Bearcat town. That's not bias it is a simple fact.

All of Xaviers starters need to play well and they need to play extended minutes. Cincinnati goes a legitimate 5 deep on the perimeter along with Bishop who can guard three positions.

I think Cash will guard Lyons and Dixon will guard Tu. Davis may guard him when he is in the game and I think Parker will guard him in stretches. They will throw multiple guys at him. If he plays under 25 minutes X is in real trouble.

Saying Cincinnati is a Xavier town is like saying New York is a Mets town or Chicago is a White Sox town. While their teams do well on occasion, they still can't surpass the Yanks or Cubs just like Xavier can't replace the Bearcats. Just the way it is. XU is on their way back to reality just like UC. The problem for Xavier is that it is mediocrity for them and it is prolonged success for UC.

X and UC are similar to Butler and IU. IU has struggled recently and Butler has done very well. IU is the better progam traditionally and will be better in the future. If you were to ask any knowledgable fan from around the country they would tell you that IU is the better program and the same would be said for UC and X.

Xavier owns this city??!! Please take your head out of your rear end. I believe the name on your jersey says Xavier. Ours say Cincinnati. No matter how many times you win, that will never change. Xavier and the A10 is undesirable, Cincinnati and the Big East is. Lets face it, when January starts for college basketball, we play the top schools in the country week in and week out, and playing them well. I know you X fans have to get bored playing nobodies. Also, any X fan saying UC plays a weak schedule are the biggest hypocrites, look at yours this year, and even worse, you lose to them. X girls are STILL ugly, just like the record!

haha- I just said Xavier owns the city to get you guys riled up. All you have to do is look at the coverage of both schools to realize its a UC city. Great1- ODU is a top 25 RPI team (they were a couple weeks ago) and they will be a tournament team. I said in another forum both schools seemed to schedule what would be a good OOC (X a little better with Gonzaga, Butler, Florida, UC) but UC did schedule Dayton, Xavier, Oklahoma--and as is the case for both teams the OOC teams have not been playing up to par.

Only reason I said that about mick...I hate the guy. Full of excuses and it bugs me. The guy can recruit but man I hate him...more then I ever hated huggins for some reason. Some of the things he says really bugs me---"you can't tell me they wouldnt win the A-10" (I can at least respect Huggins as a coach).

UCalum-I agree, our Conference schedule is bad- and I love it that way. Schedule (well, what we thought) a tough OOC schedule, win or lose it builds your RPI and then run through the A-10, its how X has gotten to the tournament so many times (though X has had pretty good teams lately) and its how they need to this year. Playing the RPI game is what Xavier does and they do a good job of doing it. Its how Xavier has built its program.

Who? Holloway?...He won't play under 25. he probably wont play under 35. If he did play under 25 I got UC by 17

you seem like a reasonable guy and i respect your program but i hate the hell outta them. and they aren't going to win thursday unless tu gets more than 35 and they will never own this city not now and not a million years from now.

Xavier is in no way going back to "mediocrity". Next years team will be really good with another great shot at a sweet 16. With losing Love, and especially Crawford, then Martin and Redford (Xaviers two best shooters, Redford can at least help spread the floor and is a threat to hit 3's...dont really have that this year) Xavier is going to struggle for sure. Still have a shot at the tournament this season but we have a pretty good recruiting class next year and the year after working on some great talent.

UC is back to success though.

again, they have a top 50 recruit next season, with a 160 recruit as well. Recruiting has actually gotten better for Xavier then it was with Miller at the Helm (Though id like Miller back...not saying Mack can't do it but I really liked Miller. Plus Brown would have stayed last year with Miller and Crawford. Would have been a real dangerous teama)

Since this Sally is staying on board, and seems reasonable enough, I have a question. DontMissHim, what do think about the class (or lack thereof) of your fans, when reading the xavierhoops.com stuff? Honest question.

If you peruse through here (People are actually being more than courteous, to the point of defending your stay and having civil discussion) or bearcatnews, many UC fans are pretty well mannered about X fans. I think these boards can be more than a pretty decent representation of the types of fanbases. Heck, from what i see your coach even posted on xavierhoops. So why the bigoted remarks, the personal attacks, the "let's take a baseball bat to their head" statements? You guys made up of a bunch of classless trash or what?

Call me crazy, I'd say one fanbase is a lot classier than the other. And it seems X's fans care a WHOLE lot more than we do. (The idea X wants to drop us is laughable) No offense, I think that's evidenced by your near 400 posts on a UC board.

So you guys wanna drop us, huh? On behalf of UC, deal. We wanted to for years, but ya'll said it would ruin the fun of the game and that your vaginas would hurt. I say we do it. It doesn't matter to our OOC schedule one bit. But yours other the hand... Well when the freakin Richmond Spiders are usually one of the top 3 teams you place in conference every year, you probably need a whole lot of help in the OOC.

Drop us...Please do. And please, show whoever you put in that spot on your schedule some class. The remarks of the your fans on your boards are disgusting. I'd love to hear you what you think about that.

Yes, it's gotten so much better that two of the biggest recruits in the your school's history have rescinded their commitments and are going elsewhere.

Chandler to UCF (really, UCF outrecruiting X?)

DSR considering Ohio State, UK, etc.

You're lucky that the 2011 recruits have already inked their LOIs....otherwise they would like be going elsewhere.

You can bet your a$$ that Dee Davis wishes he was going to Bloomington to play with all his buddies instead of Eggsavier to play with Jeff Robinson and Griffin McKenzie.
