You can’t improve foot speed.

They need to either scheme around him not leaving the paint or take him out when they are abusing us

Who you taking him out for? It’s obvious he doesn’t think Diarra is good enough or he would. So who do you put in.

really 1 team abused it and that was vermont.

maybe the adjustment is let him switch, or maybe brannen is just going to live with it. maybe he feels like giving up 1 made 3 a game isn't destroying the defense.

maybe thats the tradeoff he's willing to make with how well vogt plays in the post on defense and how well he scores on offense.

our defense definitely hasn't struggled because vogt is on the court.

BGSU and Xavier - among others - abused Vogt's poor defense.

xavier abused our guard defense. marshall abused us and only marshall.

jones had a good 2nd half but at the end of the day was 4-10 for 10 points with 3 turnovers and a 78.5 ORTG and was held below his season average in offensive rebound % although only slightly.

Vogt didn't play well defensively, but to say xavier was attacking him is not correct. Xavier was attacking whoever was guarding Marshall. He was scoring or penetrating forcing help.

I tend to disagree heavily with the foot speed comment. I have seen many people go to acceleration training and greatly improve foot speed, coordination and overall speed and agility. It can be trained.

Reports all summer was diarra was killing it in practice along with Mcneal and williams. Only williams has stepped up to plate.

Honestly i think diarra and vogt should share court together more going forward. Diarra jumper just as good if not better than scott. Scott needs be used at the 5 spot with 4 guards. I would consider moving scott to bench for sake of him not being really needed or effective with Vogt.

I'll like see this starting 5

Jarron
Jaevin
Williams
Diarra
Vogt

First tv timeout go to scott and 4 guard line up.

Scott has been abused defensively than anyone this year. Reduce his minutes and let diarra and guards get his rebounds.

I've been as hard on scott as anybody and think he's been the greatest disappointment this season (bc he doesn't have injuries) theres just no way diarra is close to scott either.

scott needs to understand he can't shoot though. no 2 point jumpers, no 3 point shots. he can't make them.

he's at 35 % on 2 point jumpers and 27% on 3 point shots last year and this year combined. please no.

he basically needs to understand he's Nate Lubick on offense.

Scott isn’t nearly as bad everyone thinks on defense.

His synergy grade is Very Good and he allows just 0.73 points per possession.

Which is better then 65% of D1

As for offense, he grades out as Average.

Last year he was “very good” at nearly a point per possession

Agree, Scott looks plays like he has to shoot sometimes. I’m fine with a jumper or 3 if he is set but he shoot runners and fade-aways sometimes. Should never do that

im saying he shouldn't shoot any of them unless the shot clock is about to run out.

those are horrible shots for an offense at those shooting percentages. plus he's our only offensive rebounder so its not likely his misses are coming back to us.

Vogt got abused in the xavier game? Really? I must have missed that. Do you guys watch the games or just look at the metrics? I’m curious

My view in the 2nd half was perfect view Of the abuse.

They didn’t abuse him directly. They just abused his lack of foot speed. They’d set a high ball screen which would bring Vogt out of the paint, then immediately attack,

He just can’t move quick enough. If you get him 3 feet from the paint, you can just kinda waltz your way to the rim because he can’t get there In time.

It’s not his fault. He is a guy who has great fundamentals and learned a lot of great footwork. But you can teach or learn, quick twitch athleticism or foot speed.

In fact, it’s not his fault at all.

Brannen knows his weakness. I’m sure it’s glaring issue on film, so it’s his job to keep Vogt in positions that will make him successful.

Offensive and even in some rebounding spots, I thought Vogt did a good job.

Tyrique Jones scored on him in the 2nd half and motioned to his bench that “he’s too little”

I’d love to have Zach Fremantle on our team. That dude is going to be a stud for Xavier for the next 3 years.

He will probably kick our ass next year in the paint. He’s tough, he can shoot and he plays his ass off.

His defense sucks tho, and Vogt abuses him a few times too

There is just natural gifts athletically that Vogt doesn’t have.

I’d love to see him improve but he’s never gonna be fast or quick

Vogt became timid 2nd Half somewhat, which created flashes of abuse. I must say Vogt is who he is. The real measuring stick for Vogt will be Iowa's #55 for me. Will Vogt get mean, or become timid like 2nd Half of Xavier.

The real issue is we have to get him involved offensively, early and often, just for foul sake of the other teams. Feed Vogt and let Big men rack up fouls early in the game.

So once again or Guard play will determine what Vogt does Offensively, and may translate to being more confident defensively.

Defensively Vogt should be rim protection only, let Scott and Diarra chase guys off the 3pt line.

jones is a good player. You aren't going to hold a good player to zero points. One of his buckets was a jump hook. if that goes in, there isn't much you can do about it. I thought vogt did a great job on jones for the majority of the game. Same with Wessen from OSU. Good players are going to score some points. Also, I think you are right, if he has to move, it's over. All i expect from Vogt is good post defense, and you live with the rest. We don't have complete players. have to give and take.

I would like to have most of the players on their team if we are being honest.

Also, there aren't a lot of guys with size and good foot speed at this level. Most of those guys go to about 5 schools. You have to be willing to live with one or the other.
