No, I'm not willing to roll the dice. I prefer trusting the talent of Whit Babcock and Santa Ono to do exactly what they did when they replaced Butch Jones. Use their talent to find the right replacement. It's not rocket science. It happens all the time. I trust them a lot more than the two clowns who put us in this mess in the first place.

Whit and Santa are 1000% behind Mick, Mick is a man of integrity and graduates his players, both know Mick is the best coach for UC.

I have the answer to that question and its Bruce Pearl. Honestly, he's EXACTLY what this program needs. A great recruiter, a proven winner and a guy who can sell his product to a fan base. His daughter goes to school at UC, his show cause expires after the season. He wants back into coaching and he won't command top dollar immediately given his circumstamces.

The guy made a dumb mistake and paid his price but in the grand scheme of things what he did wasn't that bad. I'd be willing to give him a second chance here at UC and think he'd be the perfect fit to replace Mick and unite our fan base.

You want a new arena? Bruce Pearl is the kind of guy who can deliver something like that. With Pearl and Tuberville at the helm I'd like to see a BCS conference deny us entry.

Unless you can 100% guarantee that we get Bruce Pearl (my dream scenario), you do not fire Mick. Rule #1 of coaching, if you are going to fire a good coach, you better get a great one....

Ridiculous, Bruce Pearl would be a big step backward, the NCAA has him on show cause for a reason.

I can't guarantee anything obviously but there are options out there. That's probably the best one off the top of my head and it actually makes sense. It would be feasible that a scenario like that could play out should the powers that be feel inclined to make a bold move.

The NCAA has a show cause on him because he invited Aaron Craft to a BB-Q and later lied about it. Craft's dad was apparently rubbed the wrong way by Pearl and assisted in their investigation. So basically he was guilty of lying to the big bad NCAA, which is an organization that is basically based on a lie.

Like I said, in the grand scheme of things what he did wasn't that bad.

Mick has just as many 1st team All-Americans and players drafted as Bruce Pearl. Not exactly getting back to the glory days like some are clamoring for.

there were other issues as well. A player who failed drug test and player ticket issue.

jeff, I understand that. I also think you realize this won't occur overnight because of a number of reasons. The question is WHO would take the job under the circumstances and be able to deliver our very lofty expectations any quicker. Remember factor in all the data.

The alternative is to stay the course and take small steps with a coach who's reputation is growing and is making progress. I have no doubt that if MC was let go he would have no problem finding a school in a better league, better facility and a larger fan base. We speak of loyalty. anyone doubt that If MC was to advise his agent he was open to changing jobs he couldn't get a raise and put himself in a more stable environment. He's been offered. His response, not interested.

Let's all come down off the ledge and cheer the team and watch the young guys grow.KJ,TC,and JL will provide good and bad moments this year. If anything it will be fun watching them grow. Next year with Strickland ,Morman and this years class added to the mix we should start back up the ladder.

Waite, your view of the nation's love affair with Mick Cronin is seriusly funny. I guarantee you he won't leave here and move up the food chain of college coaches. Somebody like Buzz Williams is the type of coach that would fit into your statement......not Mick Cronin. Nobody in the coaching fraternity would ever say he has done a bad job. It's only natural if you're asked a question like that about someone in your coaching fraternity, to say he's done a great job. It's a mutual admiration society. When's the last time you've heard a coach criticize another coach's performance?

Every program has some issues, even Mick has had to dismiss a player, not to mention the brawl fiasco.

The show cause is from the Craft issue and the resulting fallout involving Craft's father. Withou that Pearl is still coaching at UT.

He doesn't put butts in the seats. Integrity and gratuation rates are great attributes, but it's a far broader picture than that. There are many coaches who have integrity and will graduate players, plus ignite the fanbase, attract great recruits, develop talent, and take the program to another level.

Bruce Pearl has coached in Division I for 10 years and made the NCAA tournament his eight times including 3 Sweet 16's and an Elite 8. He is a good coach, probably better than Mick (speaking as an actual coach). I would be a bit concerned with his program building as it looks like the bottom fell out that last year with ineligible players, guys being dismissed, etc. If you told me UC would get him if they got rid of Mick I would probably make that trade.

With that being said it is all just in fun as Mick has 100% support from the administration, and has accomplished a lot for UC.

L-T I'm about being a UC fan and watching the team succeed. I'm very aware of the coaching fraternity. MC is viewed as someone who has done a outstanding job resurrecting this program as well as winning games without 5 star talent. If you don't think he would be scooped up in a heartbeat your delusional.

I agree, it's not very likely to happen. I'm not saying UC will fire Mick, I just think they should. I think it's been long enough. If you're like me, and you want to see this team get back to being great, a move needs to be made.

Now if you state that opinion people will always say, who do we go out and get? I see Pearl as a realistic option and I'm sure there are more.

I'm def not saying I believe that Pearl will be our next coach, just that it's an option. The notion that Mick is the only person in the world capable of coaching our program is ridiculous. He hasn't done that great of a job and there are folks out there who can do better. Whether it be up and comers (more risky) or a guy with a proven track record (Pearl) I trust that our administration is capable of finding a replacement.

I don't think they want to or will but I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure they know that there are people out there who want a change. Including canceling my season tickets if things don't start to change for the better.

if your tickets are in lower section I'll buy them from you. MC doesn't deserve to be fired and won't be.i trust our administration knows what others in the industry no and that is we have a good coach.

My tix are in the lower level (120) and the donation is significant. Our group has already discussed making this season our last if we take a big step backwards. If you want to move down there you can right now, a few groups of seats have opened up in the last 2 years, all you need is the donation. There are many more around us who talk about this year being their last if things don't change.

can you let me know how much of a donation is required.

If you are ok with a half full arena full of Ralph's, loyal to the death and butt on hands, then keep Cronin and his "personality". If you want to fill the house with a bunch of rabid basketball fans night after night, roll the dice. Eventually someone will stick. The head coach is the face of the program. He is the main attraction to most programs year after year. There is no Cincinnati love affair with Cronin. And for those who think his reputation is on the rise, you are seriously kidding yourself. How many offers has this "young stud" had over an 8 year period?
