Ahhhh! Good point. The impact of HDTV. I agree with you on that one. But, in all honesty, if our performance on the floor and in recruiting was better, I still believe people would leave those HDTVs and come to the game. They come when we play someone decent, even with mediocre players. I believe we could get the fans back with a better program.

L-T, do you have tickets to away games?

Counterpoint...you realize that most of the other facilities are dedicated to one sport. UC's is lumped together for every sport. Still extremely nice by the looks but its can't be compared to a $70 million exclusive football center like the other facilities on that list.

We've spent a lot more that than $110 in the years since the varsity village. With the recent Nippert upgrades, that $100 Million went almost fully to football.....and we've still done even more than that. Our campus is making the most beautiful lists. Our athletic facilities are second to none. And now we are even upgrading the arena. What coach wouldn't salivate to come here and make the money that we pay our coaches....which is also Top 20.

I'm going to Butler. I may go to one or two more. I've attended less conf. tourneys since Cronin took over, but I used to attend most of those and go to the NCAA games.

If you come across or know anyone with UConn tickets in march feel free to let me know. Uconn is only offering them if you buy 5 game packs...sons of bitches

I agree with L-T. Sports facilities are already great. From a basketball standpoint when the arena is done they will be among the absolute best in the country. There will be no more excuses...and I don't think they are a huge excuse at the moment for basketball. Will it help to real in a little better recruiting? Sure...but it will come hand in hand with our success on the court. If our on court success slides...recruiting will too regardless of the arena.

Best case...make a good run this year and/or next and we will be in the cat bird seat. Absolutely have to capitalize in the next 2 years (on the court) to make a big impact on recruiting.

I would say the arena will have little to no effect on recruiting, unless maybe they attend a big game when the arena is full and loud as opposed to that same game being at the current Shoe and half empty and dead. But, most of our big games are almost full anyway and the current Shoe is still pretty impressive when the fans come out and get loud.

There is no replacement for winning. Top 10-15 season and/or sweet 16 or better Will do more than a new arena. The new arena will just add to the momentum. No time to waste. We have a team that can do it...is the coach up to the task? The next round of recruits will be playing all 4 years in the new arena.

Many people think league affiliation is the biggest obstacle in recruiting. I believe Chad posted firsthand knowledge of such.

Oh man...that is a bad situation there. Hope she's safe!
When I finally got her to answer my call she had just woke up. She is a waitress as well as student and got home late. I went from being mad at her to being happy in about two seconds. Thanks for asking.

Waite I'll be as worried about conference affiliation as you just as soon as we start winning AAC Titles and/or Tournaments, and stop losing to UConn, Rhode Island, Harvard, Creighton, St. Joe's, etc.

Glad your daughter is safe, I can't imagine having a loved one in the kind of situation.

Thanks Jake.

I hope we can go on a run this year. Really had my hopes up that we would get a invite this year. Just see the handwriting on the wall. The Networks are calling the shots and we to this point are on the outside looking in.

Waite. I concede being in a better conference would help recruiting. In the absence of that we need to win more to have the same effect. The new arena will just be a bonus imo.

winning is always important. Like L-T I think our facilities are fine. My concern is as the Networks get more and more involved conference will become a bigger hurdle to overcome. Exposure and playing against the best is huge.

There are many non-Power 5 teams doing just fine recruiting. A good coach will do just fine no matter what conference he is in. Gonzaga does great. UCONN does great. Wichita does great. The conference is just an excuse. We saw how Huggs did here for 16 years in a mid-major conference and starting with a program in the toilet bowl of college basketball. Of the top 50 highest paid coaches in basketball, 21 are non-P5 coaches. Contrast that with football where Tommy Tuberville is the top paid non-P5 coach and he ranks 51st. Cincinnati has established a brand under Cronin that is unattractive to most good recruits. That is my belief. Conference is important? Yes for football, no for basketball.
