When adjusted for competition, they have a slightly more efficient defense than us. It's so close, that's it not really even a difference. Our defense is very much the same.

All I'm saying is; Virginia doesn't defend the 3 much better than UC.

And my snark in the other comment, might have been uncalled for but isn't untrue. I get a little frustrated seeing every single thread turned into putting down our program, as if UC is one of the worst teams in all of basketball. I feel so good about having 2 really good players (Evans and Washington) on our team and find it a bit insane that you can say all the things we lack without mentioning how dynamic of a player Kyle washington. He truly (at least early on) looks like one of the best bigs in college basketball.

All I've said about Washington is that "I couldn't possibly be more impressed".

One NBA DRAFT pick in 10 years.

I've been raving about Washington since well before the season started. Not only was his cheap shot uncalled for, his statement was untrue as well.

Lol Hubbard..it's not worth it anymore. At the end of the day they affect 0% of the team and the game. If they want to exploit negatives, let them. Let them go on and on every move the team makes wrong. You see any of them coaching D1 or playing D1 basketball? No.

This thread started picking up when people were saying things Cronin does well. The attention turned to the "Cronin haters" when the person you're siding with made an unprovoked attack on people for something no one has ever said. That's the kind of stuff that keeps the stupid feud going. Use your Ignore Feature, don't make up things you wish were true about people you don't like, and don't pile on. That goes for everyone.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with Broome. I agree on some points though. Sitting in the stands watching an Ohio boy like Luke kennard light it up for Duke was painful. Shame that those Ohio guys rarely consider UC[/QUOTE

I won't be surprised with Broome. I've already seen him live and in person and think he is amazing. I don't think he is the "light-it-up" pure shooter that I am referring to, but he has overall skills out the wazoo.

Not necessarily shooting. Was more referring to the speed concern

In fairness,he wasn't stating that people don't say he's a very good player. He's saying that people won't acknowledge that Mick was able to land such an excellent player. This is not directed at LT just a response.

Well, in fairness, that is total horse$hit. I have been possibly his biggest critic on recruiting, but I have raved about Washington. I have acknowledged many times that recruiting has gotten better the last few years., as have others Last year I championed Justin Jennifer in a huge way.....and took a boatload of abuse because of it. So, if you're posting this over and over, you're acknowledging that he's landing excellent players.

Jennifer was pretty excellent in the cupcake season last year, and faded away when things got serious. Are we going to declare Washington excellent based on his domination of cupcakes in 6 games? I understand why his supporters are so sensitive about this. You can count the "excellent" players that he's recruited on one hand and the fact that we've only had one NBA draft pick in 10 years and zero in the last 5 years, is just embarrassing for this program. If I was recruiting against MIck Cronin, I would be in recruits ears about this over and over, along with asking them if they really want to sign with Cincinnati and put your offensive game on the back-burner. The fact that we no longer are on the radar of blue chip high school players, bears this out.

Just read about the new LSU coach saying back in the day if you were good enough to go to LSU, you wouldn't go anyplace else.

I sure wish we could get to that level. The coaches need to have an excellent excellent relationship with every High School coach. Get out there and shake hands with the fans with the parents with the coaches. It takes time it takes energy. Hopefully a couple of great Seasons from each of our major sports can help us as well.

I see what you are saying, LT. btw JJ making people better. What a pass he made last night. Drove all the way in, then flipped it to teammate for an easy layup.

.......What? Pull up the game logs between Jenifer last year and Washington this year through the first 6 games, and please explain to be how they're comparable. They're not, at all. Washington has come in and pretty much dominated, and he's getting the playing time for it. If Jenifer was dominating like that, he'd have gotten more PT.

What is your point? I have been raving about Washington. Thanks for agreeing with me.

You're acting like Jenifer was playing last year like Washington is this year. It was a terrible comparison. You were real butthurt about Jenifer not getting PT last year when he did very little to deserve it.

I think his point is that JJ averaging 7pts and 2 assists in the cupcake portion of the schedule is not "excellent" compared to Washington averaging 17 & 9 while also dropping 23 & 10 against one of the best defending big men in the country and a top 25 team. JJ has come a long way though.

Yes, thank you.

You are correct.....as I watched Caupain lead us to a 5th place finish in a weak mid-major conference, a first round loss in the conference tourney, and yet another first round loss in the NCAA where he scored a whopping 6 points against St. Joes. Yes, it was my belief that the coach should have nurtured Jenifer along and built his confidence rather than banishing him to the end of the bench and destroying his confidence. It was funny how Mick himself eventually said it was his biggest mistake last year, so I believe that means the head coach agrees more with me, than with you.

Very happy you and Mick have found some common ground. :)
