I think Lawrence has tremendous potential.
Sure, he'll need to get his strength up. The fact is though, he has athleticism, height and skill. He also has no timidity when it comes to putting up shots.

As for depth and who should get more minutes, I say play the hot hand and rotate as needed. Pastner playing small ball really hurt Memphis today.
Not sure what the point is in having four guards on the floor if they can't shoot. XD

I DVR every game, and only watch the games they won a second time. I am looking forward to the replay tonight after my kids are asleep. This was as good a 'team' win as they have had in a long time. Every player contributed in a positive way. Just wish there was a way for DN to have had some playing time, although I completely understand why he didn't get into the game. The freshman are growing up in front of our eyes, and even though they will have 'freshman' moments, our future is exceedingly bright.

This season should really highlight for the fan base how critical it is to have that true post player. JJ's improvement is the biggest difference in the performance of this team. Having to defend the post makes everyone better. Couple that with the fact he is one of the beat defenders in the country when he eliminates the fouls 20 ft from the rim and you have a very good player.

Lawrence played great today, he had at least one offensive rebound 6 points and I don't really remember him playing in the second half.

played well. The fact Memphis is a small team MC played his quicker smaller line up plus Rubles and JJ didn't have early foul trouble.

I can't get over this win. That was the definition of Cincinnati basketball. We had swag, toughness and a little style. So many deflections and blocks. Defense was nasty. I honestly believe Memphis players were shocked with how tough we were. At the end the Memphis players were in disbelief in the blocks JJ was getting.

JJ could win the AAC player of the week for a 3rd consecutive week!

He absolutely should. At this pace he will also make an All-Conference team and be in the running for AAC defensive POY and even POY. Seriously, the fact that is even somewhat realistic for him to accomplish any of the above is remarkable...

I think we were all a little disappointed with SK today, but aside from missing his first 3 shots and the inexplicable missed pass to Caupain, he didn't have a terrible game. Still went 5-11 from the field with Memphis really guarding him close. The good news is that when Kilpatrick is being face guarded, our other guys are starting to step up. Kilpatrick is a very good player, but he's not the kind of transcendent Kevin Durant/Carmelo Anthony type you can ride to victory all season. It's important for our other guys to score when he's not able to, and we look like we're well on our way to that.

My measure of shooting success is you score at least one point for every field goal attempt.....total points minus free throws
SK shot the ball 11 times and produced 11 pts. I'll take that all year, especially when he hit 7-9 ft's to go with it - my main complaint would be the 4 to's.

Another important point is our offensive output seems to be moving into a higher comfort zone. The 60s sounds so much better than the 40s and 50s, especially with our defense. Back around Pitt and X, it seemed like this team was destined for no better than being in the 50s for most games. But, the offense is much more pleasing to the eye today than 3 weeks ago.

Great, great, great win by the cats. Controlled the entire second half. Caupains 3 really gave them a cushion and was the biggest play in the game, IMO. Makes the rest of the weekend great.

I agree. They kept building a three point lead and losing it then finally pushed to five. A 3-5 point lead is nothing, especially on the road vs. a team that puts up points. That three put it at 8 and while they game still could've been lost it made Memphis start to force things a little bit. What I liked most about the game was after that point I don't think we ever let them score more than 3 in row. We answered every time they got a little momentum or got the stop and answered the next possession. Great win today!!

How about this stat: in the last 3 seasons + 15 games, Cincinnati has only lost ONE game in regulation where they scored at least 70 points. They lost another in OT against WVU. But think about that. One game since 2010-11 season is an amazing stat. Getting to 70 is clearly the magic number.

Great game all around. Best played 2 halves I have seen out of this team all year. Glad to see Jackson FINALLY play up to his potential.

The freshman looked great. Mature beyond their years. JJ is on some kind did roll right now. Shaq looked aggressive. By the end of the games SK always seems to have 15-18 points. Caupain might be our best at running the break. He's much quicker and faster than I thought. Great win!

I was scratching my head when I heard he scored 18. By watching the game I would've never guessed it. I guess Mick was right when he said he can score ten points falling out of bed. SK has done a good job of scoring despite off nights. That is what good players do. He had a couple of really bad turnovers today and knowing him he will work hard to correct that. At some point he will come out of his shooting slump. With JJ playing like he is and Caupain and Sanders stepping up as secondary scorers, teams can't over-defend SK and that should free him up some. And if not he knows how to get to the line and more importantly can knock them down when he gets there.

And that three near the end was awesome, hope that breaks his slump. What a dagger!!

WELCOME BACK TO THE BIG BOY CONFERENCE MEMPHIS!!!! Just how badly do you think the18,000 fans there wanted this one? Sucks to be them!!

Caupain and Jackson were big. Shaq is coming on. KJ needs to play more. Loved how he stepped right up and knocked down two free throws after we had just missed the front end of bonus twice. I spent most of the game yelling at SK, but he did well down the stretch.

This was one of the best coaching performances by Mick as well. Loved his game management and player substitutions. Absolutely wonderful victory!!!!!

I was supposed to go to this game. Some scheduling and timing issues made me stay home (missed the bowl game, too). Would've loved to have seen their faces in person and walk around Beale Street tonight with Red and Black on!!
