sigh..

1. you would think after a major coach makes fun of you for blaming every loss on being young you would chill out on it.

How long ago was this? Miller must have been referencing a time when we actually WERE in the process of rebuilding. Before this team how long has it been since Cronin said we have a "young team"? The last several years we have been pretty experienced with guys like SK, JJ, Gates, Wright, Dixon, Parker, Sanders, etc.

2. yea sorry you don't have a 25 year old man to play against college kids this year. is this the only way we won't be young?

Young can mean a few things. Age. It can mean young in terms of experience as in D1 or playing time. It can mean young as a team with a lot of new parts that haven't played together very much. Age really doesn't mean much...it's the other two that matter more.

3. why are your sr and jr being out played by your younger guys? that's not the teams fault but the product of your recruiting.

Not all recruits pan out.

4. this is the college level and every one is roughly the same age and every school brings in new kids and lose kids at the sametime as you do. if you don't have your older kids ready and prepared to step up that's on you and the development of your kids.

It is pretty rare to have 7 new players come in. Even more rare to have them play high level D1 BB...unless perhaps they are made up of McDonalds AA's.

5. i never heard the young excuse before mick arrived. now it's almost like brain washing that even the fans are using it almost as much as mick does.

We really haven't had a reason to use it (young team) in about 3-4 years or so. We have had pretty experienced teams with guys like SK, JJ, Gates, Wright, Dixon, Parker, Sanders, Guyn etc. This year is much different than the last several.

I am not a Cronin apologist...but I don't think it's rational to expect a team with as many changes to come in and play like they have been together for 3-4 years.

The ironic thing is this.. I think they play really really well as a team considering the multitude of changes in personnel. I would expect more breakdowns and miscommunications but I really don't see it. Our problem is we are not positive or efficient at 2 positions. These 2 positions and the lack of production in a positive way is the only thing holding them back. Got to find a guy or 2 that is not going to consistently have negative plays game in and game out.

I can't disagree with this much. Most of our problem is the 2 and 3 positions. But I think we will struggle to win close games on the road and make more mistakes because of the experience factor.

We have to find a way to play TC and Cobb together for more minutes. I would be happy if we could just get better production at the 2 right now because we know what we have at the 3...and it is what it is.

Agree on TC and Cobb. I know Morman has been erratic but man he has a toughness about him. They must not trust him. I see 3 qualities in him that is very likeable. 1. He looks to be the best pure passer in the program. 2. He gets to the rim and shoots foulshots at a great clip. 3. He can defend. Problem with him is the same with the others. He's a very poor shooter. Unless he hasn't earned the minutes or the trust of the coaches I would start implementing him more into the game at the 3.

IMO you have to give Uconn credit for pulling this game out. That was an absolute must win for them. They have 5 losses and a loss in the conference already. They brought a sense of urgency to the second half that our inexperienced guys had not seen yet. I believe if we bring the sense of urgency to the games for the rest of conference play we could easily win this conference. I really like the pieces this team has. Now let's bring it together and make some noise. No reason to expect anything less from these guys. They are wearing Cincinnati Bearcat jerseys and I hope they realize the expectations.

Pretty certain I've heard Mick say we're young just about every year since he's been here. I've read all these different forums for years and I'm very certain that the team being young has been used as an excuse every single year. It's probably a legit statement this year more than year's past. It does make me laugh each year when I hear it though.

I wouldn't mind seeing him at the 3 either. He is tough and confident. Certain players lack confidence...but not Morman

We definitely need a sense of urgency in these next two games. If we are going to win the league, I think we need two "W"s in these games. We need to win out at home. Having already beaten SMU, I think that's possible. We'll need to steal a few wins against the better American teams on the road and Memphis is one that is a legit expectation.

You could be right. Was he talking about specific players or the team? Does he really use it as an excuse or does he say in this type of way "some of these guys are young so they need to learn from guys like SK, JJ, or TR how to work hard in practice" etc.

I mean context is everything. I don't seem to recall some type of "young team" chronic excuse making like it's being made out to be
