I want to make sure I was being sarcastic about slowly going into oblivion. Cronin needs to go now. He is consistent , consistently bad.

These are the posts that drive me nuts! Cats outrebounded SJU. They had 15 offensive rebounds. They played hard. They shot like 35% and yet could have won. If you're going to blame the couch use a valid arguement. This game was about missing shots.

You cannot possibly tell me that Cronin does anything at all to promote this program. If you think he does you are blind in your loyality to him!!! And I watched the bench a good part of the game and there was very little inspiration there as well. Not the first time the past 3 home games that I have noticed that. Also, you cannot fire up 30 3s and expect to win a game. 30!!! That is Cronins game plan. Team zones, jack up 3s regardless of if we can make them!! My God. St. Johns threw up 10. No, I am sorry. I disagree with you completely. This mess of a season now lies at Cronins feet.

Julie's got a point. We can sit here and argue all day that Mick inherited a bad situation, whether the fact the players lack of execution is his fault or not, whether Gates is a bad egg or has not been coached up properly, but the fact of the matter is UC cannot afford to have a half empty Shoemaker Center night after night. UC needs the revenue too badly.

If Cronin is back next year, it will be much of the same. I am a realist and i understand UC is not going to get a big name to come here, but there are plenty of up and coming coaches would love the opportunity to coach in the premier basketball conference in America.

And I am sure that coach would be more than happy to promote our program in anyway he could. Tired of Cronins arrogance.

If you say I'm blindly loyal to Cronin you don't read well,

I will give you the fact he's not a promoter. The bench was up cheering except Yancy! There is a difference between responsibility and fault. It is Cronin's responsibility but it is not his fault! They pack lined the interior and begged UC to make shots. When they made them SJU came out in M2M. Again, if you,re going to complain have some basis and not just emotion. What you're saying simply is not true.

I believe her basis was that jacking up 30 3's is not going to win a game. We've seen it way too much. What kind of an offensive game plan is that.

Your teams athletic ability > its bball IQ. Your teams free throw shooting has always been terrrible. So as a coach your game plan is to walk the ball up the floor game in and game out and run a half court set that your low IQ guys cant comprehend. And naturally you are going to get to the line more running half court sets.

Again, put your players in the best situation to win

Shoot 60% on ft's and you win.

This is so hypocritical for you to use. It was just a week or two ago that someone (NTS??) made mention that if St. Johns had made more FT's that they would have won, and were lucky they shot so poorly. You took extreme exception to it, and replied that it was total bs for them to even bring up.

Now you're doing the same exact thing, but only when it works in our defense. I'm not trying be a dick, but that's got total homer written all over it. You either down with looking at games that way or your not. It's not fair to only use it when it fits a certain agenda. How objective is that?

I'm not saying it's not a valid point. But I am calling you out for ridiculing someone for using it, only to use it yourself weeks later.

Sorry, just saying. I mean no offense, just kinda irked me.

They were in the best situation to win! they were up three with 1:29 to go. how is that not a good situation to win?

Don't know how you put this on the head coach. Shoot 60% on ft's and you win.

Fwiw, here it is:

You say if St. Johns had made free throws they wouldn't have won. That is lame. In any loss you can say if this or that didn't happen. Fact is sh!t does happen. It's part of the game.

To quote you, the logic is lame. We lost. Like or not, losing ultimately always falls on the head coach. Quit making excuses with the free throws. "Shit happens. it's part of the game." This team laid a big old egg at home. And that falls squarely on Mick's shoulders. Period.

He said in the post game report that the guys didn't follow the scouting report on Dwight Hardy allowing him open threes even though they knew he has been unconscious of late. He also said that they didn't execute the final play properly as Davis threw it to Cash instead of Bishop.

That now 6 or 7 Big East games where Cronin has made similar comments. It is obviously a problem on both ends, but Cronin takes responsibility for it...he has to get the guys to follow the game plan. Look at your 4 year players Bishop and Davis making mistakes down the stretch. No one is asking for them to be world beaters but a senior should at least make good decisions with the ball. That is on the coaching staff.

Simple. they scored a measly 57 points and lost

but they were in a position to win! until the players blew free throws and did a lane violation! Who cares if they scored 57 points, they were in a position to win with those 57 points

I was 7 rows back from our bench. I know what I saw and heard. And Cronin's style of play has always been the same. And it rarely produces. True, I am an emotional fan but we cannot go on like this. Fans are getting very angry and it will only get worse.

They also were in the position to lose with those 57 pts. Why look at it so one sided? And even still, being in a position to win, and winning, are entirely two different things.

And if you need to count on a guy missing a front end of a 1-1 to win ball games, you're going down one helluva slippery slope. (You can't blame the loss on a lane violation. That's just ridiculous.)

We were in a position to lose. We lost. That's exactly what happened, end of story.

So now its a 2 way street. Bishop made a couple shots to put the team in it, but Mick deserves the credit for making the baskets...

These pitiful offensive sets that limit our scoring to around 55 a game is killing us

R2G it is the coaches job to coach and the players job to execute. By their own admission they aren't paying attention to game planning details. This is the coaches responsibility. We don't know if the sets are bad if they aren't run correctly. This is the coaches responsibility as well.

The issue is about accountability. Mick Cronin is accountable for the players that fail to execute and don't pay attention to detail. It is his responsibility to make that happen. For 3 straight seasons it hasn't and my gut tells me there will be a reckoning for it.

As a manager for many years I've had as many as 53 people report to me. Sometimes they failed in their jobs and my boss handed me my ass. What they did wasn't my fault but they were my responsiblity and I was accountable. That's where I differ from some. I've seen Mick beat better teams with lesser talent and a roster of juco players that did what they were asked and play hard every play. I've also seen him lose with good players because the players didn't do what was asked of them.

In both cases he was responsible for the teams results and accountable for it.
It will be interesting to see how deep that accountability will cut.

This is very very simple fellas.

The job of a coach is to win games. Mick has not done that. His fault or not, thats his job. Do your job and people like you, dont do your job and you will be looking for another one.

It ALWAYS comes back to the coach. Ya'll say the players dont play hard, the players miss open shots.... recruit better.

Im not trying to start a pissing match, but in sports, if you dont win it goes back to the leader, the coach/owner. Is that fair? prolly not, but its how it works.

I have stated this several times, Mick has my FULL support until THIS season is over. If NCAA, he will have my continued support. If not, well... However I think is VERY fair to question him throughout the process. His constant references to defense are tiresome, when the offensive sets he runs are bad.

of all great uc basketball players you pick Jihad Muhammed? why

This cannot be a serious question! The long flowing locks are sweetness. Unless someone can find a pic of Feild rocking the awesome fro, jihad stands. Plus he wasnt as bad of a player as people thought. Dude had range.
