I would hope Yancy Gates is dismissed from the team. It would be the only logical conclusion to draw at this point.

MoEgger said he was done w/ Yancy...

Yancy came out of the locker room a minute into the 2nd half.

I would say this was his last game. Free up a schollie next year for a JC transfer.

From my vantage point, can't tell whether Yancy refused to go in, but didn't exactly look happy to be summoned....

Does it matter? Give him a bus pass back home. (or a taxi) :)

unless a miracle happens i dont think he will be here next year. it looked like mick was going to put him in the game and then he got booed and then ibrahima got in his face. i would love to know what the whole story behind that was

It looked like Thomas told Gates to go in after he fouled out, or at least motioned toward him. But it didn't look like the coaching staff wanted him in and so he looked at Thomas like "WTF".

On postgame radio show, Mick Cronin was asked if Gates had gone the other way after his suspension. Cronin: He's the same.

Cronin understandably frustrated with Gates: "I’ll evaluate (his status) after. I’m not really in the mood to talk about that."

There are 17 year old pot heads that have more motivation than Yancy. I would not kick him off the team. Let him ride the bench. Don't cut ties with him.

I believe if Mick Cronin does not dismiss Yancy he will have zero credibility with his team and 99% fans. You can't allow a player to challenge you and hurt guys that are playing their ass off. He has to go and he may have cost a coach his job.

I was against getting rid of Yancy even after the Pitt suspension but today he showed that he has no interest in being a productive member of this program.

He had some great moments but, ultimately, he either couldn't or didn't want to live up to the potential that was clearly there.

If he stays I hope that something in him will be lit. If he goes, I hope he does well.

can you blame yancy for being mad about this though? its not thomas's job to put people in the game. i would have looked at him like WTF too if he made me look like an even bigger fool than he already was looking like.

I don't think I've ever booed a college player individually in my life. Ive definitely never seen a college athlete get booed by his own fans, especially in his hometown before. When he went to go check in for thomas that all changed. Sad bc yancy couldve owned this city and been a king here. Instead hes just another lazy waste of space bum. Kick him off the team and play the guys who play hard and try

I was thinking the exact same thing while sitting there. I felt bad because I do not think you should ever boo your own teammates like that but, he def. did deserve it and brought it on himself. How can anyone on that team want him to be apart of their team after a selfish immature show he put on. I have never seen anything like that before but I think it is time to pull his scholarship. He is not living up to his part of the contract and in the real world, you get booted for that after so many opportunities to change.

The way I saw it, Thomas was giving Gates a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the coaches and the team. When Thomas fouled out I saw him immediately summon Gates. Gates sat there like a stump on the log. Afterwards Ibrahama gave him the riot act for not getting up quick enough and getting himself in the game.

Seriously dude, you need to stop typing when you're upset. Your comments and biased hatred to Cronin is making a lot of your post irrational. You are trying to blame Mick for an immature player. Get a clue.

haha i will try to stop. i like cronin i really do i was just questioning why thomas is putting someone in the game who doesn't need to be in the game. and thanks to littledanny who answered my question

I don't disagree, but have you ever given any thought to just how bad we'll be if Gates doesn't play next year? Seriously.

Quick, who are you giving the 80 minutes of post play to? Even if Jackson gets 30 (I like Jackson, but that's even a lot to expect of him as a Soph) that still leaves 50 to go? You think this team has any chance with Ellis and Gaines each playing 25 minutes a game? I don't. Do move Shaq Thomas down, and play small? I don't see 20+ wins as likely trying that either?

Personally, I think Cronin has to figure out some way to keep Gates, and keep him motivated for next year. Even if the rest of this year is written of for him. Otherwise, he'll be the biggest lame duck coach in all of America next season. I know people won't like to hear that, but the truth hurts. If anybody can look at this roster, with 5 or 6 freshman coming in (NONE are universal top 100, much less top 75, 50, 25) and NO Yancy, and tell me that's a top half of the league BE team, then I want some of what you're smoking.

There is no way you can keep Gates on this team and maintain any credibility. Keep him and lose the team. You have visiting recruits tweeting about how dumb he is! You can't keep him!! This kid hurt this program in multiple ways today. Personally I believe that this will have a huge effect on Mick Cronins future. This was an embarrassment to the program.

If Yancy goes, Mick is finished. (This year or next, I don't know)

There is no way this team has the ability to compete next year at the level it will take to save his job, without Gates. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

I don't know what you do with the kid. I guess I'd try the Bishop tactic of sitting down for the remainder of the year, and making him earn his way back. If Mick kicks him to the curb for good, which I would totally understand, he may as well hand in his resignation as well. If it happens, cue the fat lady...

I agree with what you're saying and its all very true. I guess I said that with not full expecting him to lose his scholarship. We def. need him but if he continues to act like how he did today, we are no doubt a better team without him! The fact that his team was pulling a crazy comeback and he couldn't even raise his two hands to clap to show support...as a teammate you have to be full of different emotions. The fact that Thomas was actually playing really well and broke through, all Yancy could do is sulk in apathy. The fact that he was sitting down while the rest of the entire team was in a huddle trying to win a game says a lot.

You would also think, common sense would be Yancy would want to at least represent himself well. He did quite the opposite. He could at least act like a good cheerleader, so it appears there is nothing wrong with him and it is Cronin's fault for not playing him. But, he puts on display to every person watching the game why he is and should not play.
