Definitely shouldnt do it but if that rule was ever enforced every player and every school at the D1 level would be guilty of recruiting violations. Fans have direct access to players because of twitter and facebook and try to influence through that access. Its too prevalent to punish.

Come on, now. I haven't done any promoting of our school or swaying him to come here. I simply wished him good luck. That's being courteous. If I saw him on the street and recognized him, am I not allowed to wish him well on his visit? What if he brought it up? I just walk away with my head down? These rules are made for guys that are offering real value to recruits to come to their school. I would never try anything along those lines. Hell, I wouldn't even say anything positive about UC.

I don't see anything wrong with what you posted. I met a recruit for football in the airport as he was on his way to Cincinnati for a visit a few years back. I had UC clothes on (as did he and his mom) and his mom actually asked me about the school and if I went there. I told her about my experience there and that I was jealous the campus wasn't as nice as it is now for my 5 years. The kid was super polite and I wished him well. To be honest, I don't remember who it was or if he signed with UC (I think he did). The point is, there is a difference between telling a kid to enjoy the visit and good luck, and what a lot of UK fans do with their bball recruits or OSU fans do with their football recruits.

Lol, "following around," as if I'm literally hiding behind bushes, watching them from afar.

Anyway.

Just ignore NTS, he has moments where he acts like a 5 year old and tries to get reactions out of people. Moving on, I really hope we get this kid. It would be a nice get for us if we could land him and Scott.

Same here. I don't know what the recruiting staff's priorities are at the moment, but at least going by ratings, this kid should probably be the one they spend the most time talking to. I don't know of any other 4-star guys that we're currently in the running for.

Yeah...Evans looks like our last chance at a 4star/top 100 recruit. He is visiting Tulane this weekend. Hopefully he doesn't commit.

Evans enjoys weekend visit with the Gamecocks

6-5 Jacob Evans of Baton Rouge, LA made an official visit to USC over the weekend and said he had a very good time but he's not going to make a decision until the spring.

"It was really good," Evans said. "The coaching staff, coach Clark, coach Martin and coach Evans, all of them are like their players. They are close and a family. There's a lot of good people in the program."

Evans toured the school and got a close up look at what is going on inside the basketball program.

"I saw the facilities and the things they are building and are going to build," he said. "The way they play fits my playing style. They try to get the best out of you."

Evans has also taken official visits to Auburn and Tulane. He will visit Cincinnati next weekend. He's not sure if he'll take a fifth visit.

"All of the visits have been great and just makes my decision really harder," Evans said. "I want to see who is brought in and what my playing time options will be."

Evans played point guard last season and averaged 17.5 points per game. He'll play more shooting guard this season.

Is Jacobs being recruited as a 2 or a 3? I never like hearing about playing time when we are going up against teams that haven't won much recently. Those teams usually have plenty of immediate playing time for good, young players. At least we are getting him on campus.

Rothstein officially tweeted that he does in fact visit this weekend. Auburn, Tulane, and South Carolina all in the mix as well. He's been bumped up on almost all recruiting sites within the last couple months; now a 4-star on ESPN, Rivals, Scout, and 247, and has touched the Top 100 in a couple of those.

St. Michael (Baton Rouge) four-star wing Jacob Evans has narrowed his list to five final schools, according to his high school coach Drew Hart.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder is now considering, in no particular order, Auburn, South Carolina, Cincinnati, LSU and Tulane.
Evans, whose emergence onto the national scene I profiled back in August, has already taken visits in recent weeks to Auburn, Tulane and South Carolina.
He is scheduled to take in Cincinnati this weekend and is still finalizing the date of his visit to LSU, which could take place as early as the following weekend during the Tigers' home football game versus New Mexico State.
At the moment he still intends to sign in the late period in April.

If he takes 5 visits this fall, will he really wait until April to sign? I'm guessing not.

Maybe he's just giving himself enough time so he isn't painted into a corner on when to announce. Smart move if that's the case. Other possibility is he wants to see if his recruitment blows up and gets someone like Kentucky or Duke involved.
