I didn't say he has outplayed KJ. I said he has been better in almost every statistical category outside of on the ball D. At some point you have to weigh that against defense... especially when he wasn't recruited for D.

We don't need to wonder what KJ will give us if we give him more minutes. With Cumberland we do...and it's worth the experiment in the next three games imo to give that a try. Like I said...in his two games where he has played the most...he has scored 28 total points. That's intriguing to me. Definitely worth a look at more minutes imo.

But Waite says he can't get more minutes bc he'll get exposed. So don't even let him have an opportunity. We have to just play 4 on 5 on offense all season and try to beat good teams.

Seriously though, who says Cumberland has to play at the top of the zone? Why can't Evans always play up there when Cumberland is in? Cumberland has been getting deflections, is a good rebounder, and Cronin has complimented his off ball defense several times.

How many points has he given up? He wasn't brought here to play D????? As a top 50 recruit I'd say he was brought here to be a very good all around basketball player. KJ has had his moments as well and against tougher competition. His game against Iowa St. was a big part of why we won. I think Cumberland will be a good player but in the eyes of the coach who sees him daily and studies film, he is not there yet. You can disagree with that if you want. Do you think part of his playing time is based on game situations, match ups and how effective he is playing?

Kevin Johnson is not a good high D1 player. Cumberland can be. And he'll continue to improve with experience.

so now having KJ in the game is like playing 4 on 5. LOL!!! Did it look that way against Iowa St.? Jake you have a knack of trying to apply absolutes to your arguments without much basis. If Kevin is our best defender which Mick has said repeatedly how is that 4 on 5. I think the point your trying to make is Cumberland's offense would off set his defensively issues. I do not agree and apparently neither does the coach. End of argument.

I said 4 on 5 ON OFFENSE

You don't recruit a tree trunk to play D. You work with him to get better at it sure but you can't bring him here for offense and sit him on the bench for D.

Again...he is better in almost every statistical category to KJ including steals and blocks...both defensive.

Let him take some shots from outside. In the games he takes 3 or more shots from deep he is over 40 percent. Trying to get hot as a shooter with a couple of shots isn't a good recipe. Plus he's got less turnovers and more assists and rebounds per 40 minutes.

Against ISU Johnson was 4 of 10 from the field and 1 of 5 from deep. If that is your high bar for KJ we can end this discussion here.

Well hopefully Kevin Johnson's 4 pts 1 reb in 30 minutes can win it for us.
So its all on KJ. How about if he shuts down the opposition best guard. Would that be of value? Guys enjoyed the banter but I got to shovel the snow before the wife gets home. Go Cats!!!

By the way...case in point... coach thought Thomas needed to play over Evans. Or maybe he didn't think so but seniority was the issue. I don't think there is a single sole living... besides Thomas and his parents...who now think that was a great idea.

I wouldnt really say he shut him down. Morris was the leading scorer of the game for both teams with 15. He also missed a few open shots

There was also that backbreaking 3 in the Rhode Island game off of the most simple inbound pass ever with the shot clock low.

He just wanted to double check with the post to see if they needed any help if the ball was inbounded downlow instead of the wide open guy he just left standing in the corner

Another case in point. Cobb. Coach had him on the bench until his aneurism. A different coach came in and started Cobb. Next year when our head coach comes back...Cobb is starting.

Bottom line...you can't just say I tust all coach decisions because some have been proven wrong. Just last year there were two examples of wrong player decisions.

I think I also saw him on his cell phone during the game checking his old YouTube highlights. Smh

The only thing standing between KJ and Thomas starting for Evans and Cobb was an injury and an aneurism.

That is the epitome of bull headed!
