Guys didn't get to watch game today due to traveling. From the amount of foul calls it looked like Mick challenged the team to be more aggressive and physical. If so it paid off. I'm sure we got our fair share of bad calls but it could also be a product of the team really getting after it defensively and on the glass.

I like the folded up when it counted part.... Did you watch the Purdue game?
dude get over it. We've lost 3 where troy totally collapsed final 4min. He had great games up until that point, we all believe he can perform better that's why we want him fresh closing out games.

Lol! The fact that you had to go back to last season to find an example to counter my statement makes my point better than I ever could have. Thank you!

Well, we certainly have zero evidense to support the 8 man rotation being the answer. We have 3 home losses, and a bunch of other close games. We've seen Caupain spit the bit in the clutch in our losses. Is it fatigue? Are you telling me that those 8 players have been so good that it's just too big of a risk to play Jenifer and Quadri? Come on now. By just about everyone's opinion, Caupain is our absolute best and he has folded up when it counted, not to mention his consistently poor shooting. I have no problem mixing those other two players into the rotation, keeping fresher players on the court, and helping the defensive energy and the offensive pace. If we had real stud players, it would be different, but we don't. Go deeper and try to wear the opponents down with our depth.

No that's not what I am saying. I am simply saying that the coincidence when we blow teams out isn't necessarily due to playing 10 guys significant minutes. We were blowing those teams out before those guys coming in. However, there have been times when the lead was reduced when we put in the second team. Now I don't blame that on the second team either because I don't subscribe to the platooning substitution pattern. I prefer a plug and play method where second teamers get to play minutes with first team. Putting them all in at the same time makes no sense to me.

In close games I would typically play my most effective players for as long as possible without fatiguing them (however many minutes that is for each of them). I would prefer not much more than 30 minutes but the coach has to be able to trust the other players to come in and play well and smart. Coach has to trust them to come in and take smart shots, not turn the ball over, and not blow defensive assignments. Apparently for one reason or another he doesn't trust Moore and Jenifer to the extent he does the others and I don't think we know the full reason why...just that there must be a reason.

Well that was the biggest game that he has ever played in, in his life and he came up clutch, so your welcome..... By the way if you think quadri Moore should get more minutes you shouldn't be trying to make fun of anyone on this site.

You mean the guy that the head coach singled out for his great play in the postgame yesterday?

You missed a great game. Great effort by EVERY player. Mick is right when he tells these guys to focus on deflections, rebounding, and limiting turnovers...our offense has come so far from last year these guys really don't need to be thinking about shots.

I don't disagee that Cronin doesn't have the balls to go there in a tighter game. From what I've seen, those guys seem to contribute when they get meaningful minutes. When they get garbage time, it seems like they just want to get a quick shot off while they have time. I've seen quite a few of the golden 8 look as bad as any college player could look on numbers of occasions this year, yet he runs them right back out there for their double-digit minutes every game. Moore and Jenifer got some quality time yesterday against a good opponent and performed well. It could have been a disaster since Mick had nowhere else to go but Moore for a lot of minutes in that 1st half. But, he performed and we still held on to a nice lead. I hear people making comments that Moore should transfer. How many in here said the same thing about Justin Jackson after his Junior year? A lot! Moore's effort is so much better this year. The guy has a beautiful shot, especially for someone his size. He's a really good FT shooter. Mick himself has said he is one of the best passers on the team. Mick also commented yesterday about how good his defense was in that game. And, we have fans wanting him to transfer. I want him to stay, and I want to see him play. He's got too many good skills to just give up on as a sophomore. I'm getting tired of recruiting players, just to see the constant parade of transfers. Go look at Gelawn Guyn's stats on the ETSU site. I wonder if this team could have used a guard with outstanding offense, who also was a defensive stud?

thanks Jake. Hate I missed it.

The reason I thought Moore should transfer is bc he just can't get on the floor. Yesterday's game changed my opinion. After the game Mick was talking about how much he loves to dribble. And said bad things happen (as we have seen) every time he puts the ball on the floor. So he was happy that he did a better job in that area. With Moore's shooting and passing, I like the idea of him being able to catch it up top and make the simple pass or shoot decision without getting in over his head. He brings something that none of our other big guys do. I wonder if there's any chance of Brooks going redshirt and Quadri playing backup stretch 5 behind Washington. It'd be awesome to always have a 5 in the game that can stretch the floor. Obviously Quadri has a lot to work on, but yesterday was very encouraging.

Great effort out of the team yesterday. If we give that effort every game we won't lose many. The refs were garbage. But that's what college bball wants. When Tulsa got in the bonus yesterday in the first half, they got to the line like five different trips in a minute and half or so. Just ridiculous. They even got to shoot free throws off a made three by us. You shouldn't get to go to the line on off the ball fouls when you're not the team with the ball. I guess they considered it rebounding, but since there was no rebound, it just seems funny to me. I loved how the refs jumped on Mick when he asked for a replay on the hard foul, which he has every right to do, I thought he was going to get t'd up. And then they end up ejecting the guy. Just let's you know the refs never really saw the play. I hate that referees end up being such a big part of the game. I'm glad we came out to a big lead where the fouls didn't matter.

Lots of positives. Cobb shot it in rhythm and does a really nice job with the pump fake and mid range jumpers. Don't remember a single bad shot he took. Ellis was active and engaged, as was DeBerry. Clark played with an edge. Ball movement was good. Started the game with a ton of intensity on the defensive end. Loved the fact that Shaq slammed the ball in disgust later in the game after a turnover, even with a big lead. We need that.

The middle 17 minutes were a little loose defensively. I thought Tulsa got a ton of good looks that they simply missed. Tulsa has good guards so that probably had something to do with it. First 10 minutes and last 13 minutes were very good.

What I liked about Jenifer was that he got the ball up the floor quickly. Quadri played with energy but that's really never been his problem. He always looks excited to play...usually TOO much so. It's like he loses his mind on the court and forgets everything he's been coached. Shoots every. single. time. he touches it. But I appreciate his enthusiasm.

Looking for another solid effort in Dallas on Thursday, win or lose.

I don't want Quadri to transfer. ..we aren't likely to use up all our roster spots. There is also a difference between wanting someone to transfer and expecting them to consider doing it themselves for more playing time.

On that subject Justin Jackson averaged around 20 mpg his soph and junior year. I don't recall all the transfer talk after his junior year when he was our primary big returning. Suggesting he should have transferred at that point would have been absolutely brainless imo.

That being said I hope both Quadri and Jenifer continue to EARN more playing time in bigger games. That can only mean we would be improving as a team. Perhaps they both did that in the last game...we'll see.

It was great to see more effort. We did still get a little gassed at times and took a few plays off. We won't be able to do that in every game so I hope we realize that it will take 40 minutes when go against the best.

With Jackson, it was more about taking his scholarship away so we could recruit someone else. Bottom line, many wanted him gone. There was pretty much nobody that thought he would have the senior season he had. Most had given up on him.

Not sure if we had ever played a lineup of Moore, Thomas, Cobb, Jonhson and Caupain before yesterday.

I don't recall that. We had basically a useless Nyarcuk who only averaged less than 7 minutes and we didn't have another true center. Then we had Rubles and Lawrence who was forced to play out of position. We didn’t have enough bigs to begin with and Nyarcuk would have been first to go if anyone.

Maybe he is thinking of Kelvin gaines who did leave.
