That has never been his game. Why would you think as a senior he would do it. He is not a quick penetrating point guard.

And this year when he can barely create and hit shots for himself, it leaves me wondering how much better this team would be offensively with cane broome. I supppse we'll know next year.

A pg should notice the time and if it makes sense time wise, put your head down and drive. There's a fine line in time though because you can give the other team that same chance at a 2 for 1 or you can leave yourself not enough time with the ball. It's not as cut and dry as there's between 30 and 1:00, automatic 2 for 1. But if you do have the ball with under a minute, your best bet is to try and score between 40-45 seconds. More than that they could go 2 for 1, nullifying your rushed shot, less and you might not leave yourself enough time. Generally it's a better idea at end of first half. At the end of the game if it's within a possessions score, you don't want to waste a possession rushing something because there's no guarantee what will happen when the other team gets the ball. Plus you can always foul to assure you get the ball again if time is an issue at the end of the game.

Statistics seem to suggest 2 for 1 is a good idea. On average you would like to try it. Just have to be smart.

Having a point guard looking at the clock when he also needs to be looking to make a pass requires a good level of multi tasking. I have trouble talking on the phone when someone else is asking me questions...So my 2 for 1 abilities are pretty bad.

It sounds pretty simple in theory but there is a lot involved.

Mainly it comes down to pushing the ball and looking for a good early look. Outside of that it probably complicates things.

it will be a faster more up tempo for sure.. TC will come around. His statistics here indicate he will eventually knock down some shots. The good thing is we are winning with the points coming from others.

I get you don't want to force it but these college teams don't even try. They walk it up and dribble up top until the clock winds down. It's stupid.
jake I could make a case for a 2 for 1 certainly at e end of first half. End of game I think strategically you have to get a good look first. Especially in a close game where every possession could mean the game. You also have to understand the defense is geared to take something away in that case as well.

He shot 38% from the field and 32% from three last year. I'm starting to think TC is never going to be a good shooter. (he did shoot 40% from three as a sophomore, but he was also more selective). This year's bearcats could be really good if Troy steps up his game and I haven't seen it yet.

It would help if he got yo 32%. With he players around him we really don't need him to score a bunch but if he does pick it up offensively we can really be a tough out.

Agreed. He's can be the difference between this team being good vs. Being great.

If you have to think about it you've already failed. It's an instinct, knowing the game situation. Late in the game the pg should always know where the clock is, as should everyone.

He has actually improved his overall fg % compared to last year, but his .403 & KJ's .396 are not acceptable. The 3 point % for both are dismal of course. The guys who have been hitting 3's at an acceptable rate are JJ, Cumberland & Evans (& Washington if you count his few).
I wish there were a way to always have one of the guard shooters in the lineup. Having 2 guards who can't shoot in at the same time kills the offense.
Maybe more JJ paired with KJ & Troy paired with Jarron? I don't know, just throwing out ideas. I really like TC & JJ together, but I know KJ is a solid defender.

Yea some consistent outside shooting would help a bunch!

Jenifer sophomore year reminds me of Caupain sophomore year. His job was not to score so he was more selective. I feel if Jenifer changes into more of a scoring mode his percentage would drop...Like Caupain has.

Cumberland is a shooter. Jenifer isn't bad...But it's not his role to be launching high volume 3s...Nor do I think he would be good at it.

I would like to see a little but more from Jenifer as a facilitator. I think he is getting more confident on the floor. So, it would be nice to see him create by getting I the paint and going from there. I think he does too (much) little above the three point line and not enough with his quickness.

Yah...He needs to be creating for others.
