I'm not cherry-picking that. We absolutely won due to our defense. I'm saying there are others way you can look at it that make our win look less-fantastic. I'm not buying that "it all starts with defense." But, I'm also not trying to devalue defense. Offense and defense are equally important. They could've easily won this game on offense had they made more shots. It goes both ways is all I'm saying.

When you get 20 less minutes than you would like from your top 2 point scorers... Offense is gonna take a hit. If Washington could play D and Jacob was not in foul trouble...We beat this team by 15.

Kyle will have much better matchups than Temple this year and Jacob won't be in foul trouble much. The offense will improve.

Fans will point to this game as proof that nothing has changed offensively but forget that Kyle and Jacob were on the bench for 35 minutes. Our top 2 point scorers.

Just trying to keep it in perspective. I honestly don't want to make excuses but I also don't think UConn fans should be upset that things aren't going well considering their top 3 players are out.

It would be nice to score 70 without our top point getters playing a full game but the chances are greatly reduced.

Good points. As everyone has said, the most important thing is we won. I had this as an L at the beginning of the season. On to beating Tulane by 30.

Jacob... I like your poll question breaking point at 6 points. You are a good handicapper...Right on the line!

Looking at recent history against Temple it was a solid prediction that almost came true. I hope we get the same results with Xavier with our recent history with them. Some teams have your number. It's time Cronin starts producing shootout results...It's embarrassing!

Bearcats covered the spread. 😉 I like this team. They all play hard. I was at the game and it was intense. This team, unlike in the past finds a way to win close games. How about Quadri with a few quality minutes that really helped when the team couldn't score.

I actually didn't mind any of his shot selections at all last night. He actually made a real basketball move too!

Also, KJ was noticeably sick but gutted it out and played hard when he was in.

Just wanted to say thanks for making your way out to the game. Do you live in Philly, or did you make the 8-9 hour trek? That place looked relatively dead so I'm also curious what the vibe was like in there.

I live in NY. Wasn't too bad of a trip. It was dead most of the game but when they got it close it came alive. It was a decent crowd given the students were out. That's a really nice arena.

Last year we were like 2-8 in games that went to overtime or decided by 4 or less points. This year we are 2-0.

On a side note...Is 5 overtime games in 1.5 years an abnormal amount? I don't know where to find that stat.

WV scored 77 but gave up 81. WV ranks 4 in D on KenPom. We scored 21 less points but gave up 31 less on D. Both on Temple home court.

Interesting note. Cronin has coached under Huggins and Pitino. Frank Martin under Huggins. Currently 4 of the top 5 defenses on KenPom belong to those 4 guys.

I agree that Troy really has to start stepping it up. His terrible percentages for a senior are driving me crazy. I just think we need a solid post-game to truly compete. Our backcourt isn't elite enough to make up for a sub-par frontcourt. Need to start clicking on both cylinders.
Not saying that TC played but we need more offense from him. He has played badly but he has to score more.

Great to get the W last night. Ugly game on so many levels, but I'll take the win and not look back. I will say to at least try and be positive, I think he offense didn't look as bad as it has in past years, it's just shots didn't fall. Our ball movement and shot selection has been better this year. Most nights that means more points. It was a good thing Temple was cold all night shooting. At the end of the day that game was real important to winning the conference so I'm walking away happy. But Kyle and Troy both need to step up their play.
