Bottom line today is the players failed to put the ball in the basket. Mick doesn't run the most effective offense, but we get open looks and don't knock down the shots. When you shoot in the 20's percentile range you are not going to win. No coach will ever win when his players can't hit open shots, can't hit lay-ups. Mick is taking too much heat for this. Saying he recruited these players is a sad excuse as well. These players put the ball in the basket in high school, so he didn't intentionally recruit guys that can't finish. Most of our struggles this year falls on the players. Hopefully this brawl will wake this team up and we play more focused.

Cash, Dixon and Killa were all recruited as guys that could shoot and score, they aren't executing on the court. What coach are you going to bring in that will get these guys to hit open looks?

If they can't shoot and have proven it time and time again then why not try to change up the offense? Maybe get the ball to our bigs down low? Or maybe Mick needs to look at the way he evaluates talent. I don't know what the answers are. I also know that Mick doesn't either. It's time for him to go.

I'm not giving Mick a free pass in all of this, all I know is we can win with his style of offense, we showed that last year. I wish we had a better offensive gameplan too, but these players are the ones that aren't executing right now. We get open looks and miss them. All you can ask for is to get your guys open looks. ok as i said in another thread I'm embarassed to be a fan of this team after this showing today. I'd be embarassed if I were an X fan as well for the way their team handled success. There is no excuse for the way this game was officiated. There should have been T's and a message sent at half time when Lyons was jawing with Ellis. The refs did not have control of the game today. Both teams looked like a bunch of thugs. It's unfortunate. As for the game itself, I'm not a fan of Mick's offense. I think they need to make it a point to get the ball inside and running the high post offense your bigs aren't even on the post. Doesn't make sense to me. I've always given Mick the benefit of the doubt for the situation he came into and coming in with enthusiasm. But I believe that turned today. I think this team needs a change. They need a face of the school. A strong personality who can recruit and coach. I don't blame Mick for the fight, he had try to point it out the the refs all day and was trying to call a time out to cool things down. I put the fight on the refs and the thugs that played the game. I put the game plan, offensive and defensive on Mick, and I don't think it's up to snuff, and hasn't been all year.

In my mind neither of these teams should play the rest of the year, there is no place or excuse for what happened today.

I doubt I'll be at any more games this year. I don't think I can support this group of young men. Time will tell, maybe my feelings will change, I guess we'll see.

The Xavier program has shown a history of acting like this the past few years, whether it be in the shootout or other games or in the summer league where I've seen their playerss start stuff. To be in an atmosphere like the shootout and have your opponent continually act a certain way brings out the worst in you as a person and that came to a head today. I certainly don't excuse the UC players for retaliating and throwing punches like they did, but at some point as men we've all been pushed too far and overreact. This was an unfortunate incident and I think the two schools need to work together to figure out what the problem is and address it.

We can argue all day or all season to no end. Bottom line is we aren't playing very well right now. I personally feel that Mick is a good coach and will be successful here, others don't and that is their right to an opinion. I really don't want to get in a pointless back and forth about it. We all as fans are frustrated. It sucks to lose, especially when we were so used to winning. Our offense is struggling, the style of offense could be better, but if that's the style Cronin knows and wants to play then the players need to be able to execute it and it is Mick's job to find players that can execute it. Cronin isn't going to change the way he runs an offense. He might grow and learn over time, but it's not like he has a different gameplan in his back pocket. It's year six, but that means our seniors came in in year 3 and were recruited year one and two. We weren't exactly turning heads back then and we weren't able to bring in the guys we all would've liked to or for that matter could bring in now. We've gotten better every year and are having a lapse this year. Lets see this season play out and see how Mick handles this adversity. Let the bench develop and see what they can contribute. Lets see how our juniors and seniors step up. Lets see if Kilpatrick can learn to play defense.

Unlike the other coach who condones he players acting like prison inmates, Cronin wow'd everyone. I am glad uc has Cronin teaching our kids the important things in life.
