When it comes to breaking down college basketball I'll easily defer to Jay Bilas over anyone on a message board. He's called multiple games this year. He's been to practice and the guy watches a ton of film. Just because it's not being executed at a high-level doesn't mean it isn't well designed.

I love Bilas and obviously he is very knowledgeable. But I also see better than I hear and I don't see very many well designed plays. Not only that part of being a well designed play is making it so your players can execute it.

Ok, so we are back to talking about Mick's recruiting then?

It's a circuitous argument that will come back around to recruiting, basketball IQ, personnel, and strategy (maybe not in that order) but its ground that has and will continued to be debated here.

I am starting to think the slow first half starts are part of Cronin's scheme. It almost looks as though he wants to wear the opponent down through defense and then come out hot in the second half and close the game that way. It has worked a number of times especially when you eventually see the opposing guards completely worn out. As for the offense it looks like he flat out needs an assistant who can discipline them. I was watching OSU the other night against michigan and it clearly looked like one of Thad Matta's assistant coaches was drawing up the final play of the game. Not sure if Cronin is to proud to do this but he is clearly the defensive mind in the team and there is nothing wrong with that.

The answer to this thread should be "we have none". I predicted we would not break 50 against Pitt ans sadly I was pretty darn close. I am sick of watching this team sink faster than turds in a toilet. They look like they don't give a shit so why should we.

We will lose every game left on the schedule except for maybe south Florida if we score in the 50's. Its a strong possibility at this point.

There athleticism is limited and being exposed! Very one dimensional and no confidence in their bigs to at least try something around the rim.

The offensive gameplan this season was obviously a miss. It is either too late or Mick is too stubborn to make changes to it.

there offensive game plan is there defense. cause turnovers with deflections and block shots. there not athletic enough to have a offense and mick knows that

Then they need to push the ball as much as possible and attack in fast break mode at all times...instead we are content to play the half court game, which we suck at.

I would rather them push the ball every single time, get a quick shot. Make or miss its better than what we will get in a slow half court offense.

well mick is playing 10 guys so it doesn't sound out of ordinary to try something different. but correct me if im wrong, wasn't they supposed to be pushing the ball from the get go? that was the emphasis when the season started

Yes. Not sure what happened to that.

we will be better offensively next year even without wright and parker. I like guyn/davis 3 running the point and we will presumably have a post presence in Jermaine Lawrence. wright is a very streaky shooter and he hasn't been right since he got hurt in the DePaul game. the one game without him, we scored 73 pts in overtime. the ball was moved a lot better that game and we looked like we were actually running sets. i feel like wright just dribbles too much and the offense stalls.

Add in Strickland, Caupain, Rubles with a better shot, a smarter Kelvin Gaines, and a bigger/stronger David/Shaq, and we are definitely an improved team.

A suggestion-put SK in the middle of the zone as the "zone breaker." This will force him to attack the basket like he used to. Then, when the defense expects him to slide to the middle, have him stay out by the 3 line, have Parker flash in the middle, and then you have two options-Parker being himself and getting down the lane or SK with an open 3.

I love this years recruiting class. But is also sad that bearcat fans sound like cubs fans or browns fans... "Wait till next year"!

I hope Lawrence stays 2-3 years. Excited for what 2014-2105 could bring

this happens to teams guys, calm down we are in every game we play, they will figure something out jesus christ, I love how everyone on this page thinks we are the best team in the country when we win a game and we are the worse team in the league when we lose a game.
