Tonight was unreal. UCONN made what, five straight 3's at one point? I just hate losing that way. We need some end game luck in the tourney. And yes, Caupain was absolutely mugged on two straight possessions and the ref swallowed his whistle. Even Len Elmore said as much during the telecast.

The only good that might come from this is if we drop to the 10 or 11 line. It's better than drawing a 1 seed.

It was 6 but who's counting ;) I still think we will get punished with the 8/9 seed but would love to be wrong.

Just watched the post game. First question to LD was does he think Cincy did enough to get off the bubble....you could tell LD didn't like that question, rightfully so. I loved his answer. What a piece of trash reporter.

LD makes his mark known on the coaching world as the coach that beats up reporters for stupid questions.

...If only.

Are you serious? ESPN can go piss off. They suck.

I can't verify what follows, but I spoke to an old friend about an hour ago and he told me the following:

On the technical called against Ellis, ESPN had an angle from a camera directly under the basket, which clearly showed the UConn player instigated the whole thing and gave a much harder shove than Ellis did in retaliation. I did see that replay and agree. However, he was told that when the referees reviewed the video to see if there was anything flagrant, ESPN did not show them that angle, he did not know whether that was intentional or not.

Like I said, this is a story I heard and I have no idea if it's true. Is it possible that we got screwed in a big game two straight years by a TV crew?

Another thing. Why the hell did the American conference let UCONN sit on the home bench? Yes it is their arena but they were the lower seed and thus the visiting team. It may not seem like much, but there was probably some advantage for them to sit in the same seats they occupied during the season. Typical American Conference bullshit.

I was at the game. Those young man played their hearts out against a good Connecticut team and a very loud home court advantage. I really thought inspire all that we would we. When Hamilton hits a bank 30ft 3 pointer with a hand in his face it wasn't meant to be. And still they played on and tied it up. This team didn't give up. Bring on the NCAA's. I would want to play us.

Waite he did not slip. He got crossed the F over by the best player in the league. That was not what we wanted. Ellis vs Boatright has nightmare written all over it.
Jack according to our Coach we wanted Shaq on him. Unfortunitely they screened with another player forcing Ellis to that spot. Certainly it wasn't what we wanted but with few ticks left on clock,if Ellis stays on his feet and keeps his hands up it would have been a much more difficult look. My point was KJ didn't lose that game for us.

They played the defense the way the coach wanted them to play. Davis said if he had it to do over he would double Boatright. Looking at the stats you'd think UC won but there UConn scored 18 more points from the 3 pt line and UC gave away a cumulative 8 possessions via t.o.'s. The 3 pointers killed us. Several as the shot clock was expiring and one as the game ended. UConn has hit 22 3's in their 2 tournament games. Last night, including a banked in 30 footer and the game winner both as time was expiring. You can almost call it fate.

Nice breakdown Jeff. The one stat that jumps out to me is the turnovers, 11-3. Looking at those stats just confirms we should have won, we out played them. The 3 pt shot and turnovers was the almighty equalizer. Still stings, I can only imagine how it feels for the players.

I saw the attendance was only 9k. Pretty weak showing but they were sure loud.

I was really impressed with how we played except the turnovers. Its awesome to see how much we are improving.

This whole season has been a learning and growth process. Lessons they will carry into next season. I wish TC would play with the same aggressiveness he plays with against UConn every night. Len Elmore said it best, "He's got to realize how good he is."

TC is a sophmore and Clark a freshman. The entire team minus Sanders back and some nice additions. The future is bright.

I know that's what they wanted I posted it a few pages back. I was just pointing out it was the last thing we wanted defensively. With the game on the line you dont want your center isolated on with the best guard in the league. Frankly I dont want anyone isolated with Boatwright with the game on the line. Ellis got his ankles broken and Boatwright hit a wide open 3. I know it's always easier to coach from the couch but I couldnt disagree more with the strategy. EVERYBODY knew what Uconn was going to do. They were going to ball screen to try to isolate Boatwright. You have to either double him to make him give the ball up or zone them to make sure you have a guard in his face to try to force him into the defense. The way we lost can not happen. Thought Larry over thunk that one. Maybe Im just being bitter looking for someone to blame. I just thought we were gonna win in OT and we let them have the exact look they were hoping for.

I agree. It was the best and only good statement the announcers made all night. Lol

Not sure how I made it through the walk back to the car without being placed in handcuffs last night. Uconn fans are right up there with the worst in the land. Absolutely heart breaking but not at all surprising, I'm sure many of us saw that coming. As far as the seeding i think the committee will keep us on the 8/9 just to twist the knife a little more. In their eyes they'll be giving us a little respect by keeping an 8/9 instead of a 10/11 but we all know they are just setting us up for an ass spanking in the second round against UK. fingers crossed
