That mentality works for a guy like Tom Izzo. I mean look at Michigan State this year, they are probably just as talented as the last two teams that made the Final Four but are not playing well at all this year. Does that make Izzo a bad coach? Absolutely not. In his situation you can blame the players for a lack of leadership, intensity, blah blah. He is has proven that he take a team of that skill level to the Final Four so you can put it on the players this year.
Mick doesn't have the luxury. Did you listen to the post game? He continuously said that the guys didn't pay attention to detail, they didn't follow the scouting report, and didn't execute the final play properly. He has now said that 6 or 7 times in Big East games!! That clearly means that it is on him, he didn't blame them for missed shots...like you are saying. He blamed the loss for a failure to execute the game plan. And that is on the Head Coach.
I am not trying to praise Cronin or anything but seriously read and think what you said. The players don't listen to the scouting report etc. Shall we just sit them all. Let a bunch of 18-23 year olds push the coach out. I am pretty sure they came to play for Cincinnati and Cronin. They wouldn't come here if they didn't like him. Maybe they just aren't as good as you want them to be.
