Idk if the some people is directed at me or not, but I'm not talking about scoring points at all. I thought we were garbage against Marshall on defense
(Even with them shooting lights out) they got into the paint off the dribble whenever they wanted.

My issues with tonight we're pretty simple:
1. Kyle Washington needs to get his head out of his ass and figure out what's wrong. He was one of the top 15-20 players in the country ( production wise) for the first 8 or so games.

2. Offense- went to the slow it down/ stall too soon with less than 4 minutes to go.

3. We still can't score efficiently in the half court, which is ironic for a team who loves to play a half court pace.

4. manhandled on the offensive glass in the first half.

5. Waaaay too many turnovers on offense

It was ugly. I don't know what else to tell you really. As long as we win the ugly games we should be OK.

Those ill advised shots were falling with regularity for the first ten games. We haven't had a solid offensive threat in the paint for several years. I agree he needs to improve his rebounding and D but this game looked eerily similar to years past without a strong interior offense.

Gary seems to be the better of the two right now. On both ends. I hope Kyle gets it going again... It'll be huge!

It's conference time. Indiana lost again. Louisville got smoked at home. Let's just take a moment and take the win.

These post game threads are some of the ugliest on all the internet.

Cincinnati is so pessimistic it is sickening.

I think some people are happier losing to Butler but scoring more points. We scored well against Marshall but played horrible D. At some point fans need to recognize there are two sides to the game. We still play good D and Kyle is forcing. We had Evans on the bench for a while. It's not great...But it gets the job done for now.

Exactly

It really is. I hate it. I'm so glad I'm not a bengals or reds fan, I only have to deal with it in a couple sports. When it comes to the bearcats, these fans make me sick. When I'm a fan of the opposing team, and it's bengals fans I just laugh. I don't even consider myself an overly optimistic person, but we've got a good team. Things aren't perfect, but we are winning. Just baffles me.

Jacob, I know you keep notice of this stat, UC continues to be offensively challenged during road conference games. I am hoping this was the year we get out of that habit but we're picking up right where we left off.

Came home with a W on the road against the 2nd/3rd best team in conference, cant ask for much more. Wasn't the prettiest, but got the job done. I can't say enough how thoroughly impressed I am with Tre Scott.

He actually guards and grabs contested rebounds.

I hope Washington gets the message between the Marshall game and this one. Mick can't trust him down the stretch right now because of defense and (to a lesser extent) rebounding. If he sees that is costing him minutes, that should at least fix the effort portion of it. He may never be a great defender, but he needs to sell out to get better at it.

Flip side, Tre Scott is a really nice role player.

I'm not as down on yesterday's performance as some. It's not a coincidence that the opponent magically has an off night seemingly every night against us. It's not luck, it's defense, and it wins games on the road.

I'm shocked how few comments there have been on the officiating last night. I don't think I'm biased in calling that a very lousy game by the referees. Zero consistency on fouls and they had no idea what a travel nor a jump ball was. I'm not sure who UC pissed off, but it feels like games have been brutally officiated against us specifically in the last year and a half.

Part of it is just life on the road, but I don't get too worked up about us not getting calls because we initiate a ton of contact on our offensive end. Troy specifically seeks out bodies to bang into when he's driving. That's fine, but I think officials get tired of calling fouls from the offense creating contact like that.
I would like to see them protect our big guys on put backs though. It seems like 2nd chance around the rim contact is treated differently than contact on a shot in the flow of offense. At least a few times every game, KW and GC get ORBs and try to go right back up and got slapped for no call.
