There is an old saying. Statistics don't lie but liars use statistics. Ask Mick cronin and the coaching staff how they feel about being outrebounded three games in a row. They'll tell you where to stick those statistics and percentages.

UC grabbed 4 more rebounds on Saturday than Syracuse missed shots, go figure, UC 25 rebounds Syracuse 21 missed shots.

UC missed 41 shots on Saturday, Syracuse missed 21 shots on Saturday. UC had approx 67% of the missed shots therefore Syracuse should have about 67% of the rebounds. Syracuse got 35 rebounds, UC got 25 rebounds. That is 58% of the rebounds for Syracuse, 42% of the rebounds for UC. therefore, on a per cent basis UC out rebounded Syracuse. Things are never as bad as they seem, the glass is half full not half empty.

Get out rebounded by 10, and you still think UC did a better job rebounding than Syracuse. I have to say, I'm a bit impressed that you find a way to think UC did a better job rebounding than Syracuse, despite being out-rebounded by double digits.

When you miss 20 more shots than your opponent the opponent is more than likely going to get more rebounds than you.

cats should also be rebounding all those misses on the offensive end at a much higher clip though. Their offensive reb % in that game was around 30-32%, and mick even addressed that in the postgame. He point blank said its imperative to be in the 40% or higher rate to have a chance against a team like the orange

I could be thinking unrealistically, but I think Wilks needs to start in place of Thomas against ND. ND has trouble against pressure, as seen recently. With Wilks in the game, the Cats could press from the very beginning, setting the tempo of the game. Just a thought. I do not expect a lot of people to agree, but Thomas does not seem to be mentally prepared for BEast play. Wilks is a better passer on the offense as well, increasing ball movement as well.
Go Bearcats!

Your idea is a pretty good one actually. It wouldn't shock me if Mick did do that to change it up a bit. I think you could see Bishop replaced with Larry Davis and Thomas replaced with Wilks.

I could see that, getting pressure and running the press effectively is going to be key to this game. If ND's guards can handle the press it may be an ugly night for the Cats, if they can't, and we force some TO's out of the press, we may all be happy about 9:15 tonight. Starting Wilks or Jackson would point to Mick wanting to press early and often. To me those two are the key to the press, long, lean, quick and hustle all over.

They have a starting forward out (Carleton Scott) tonight. He has a hamstring injury. UC will pressue because Notre Dame has had a tough time with it. But I look for them to really extend defensively. Both these teams really need this game tonight so I expect the atmosphere to be really intense. It's important for the Bearcats to get off to a good start. Keep the crowd quiet. I'm going to be very interested in who the Bearcats start tonight. Haven't heard anything about Yancy so I'm assuming he'll play.

I'd like to see Wilks and Kilpatrick start. If I knew I could trust him to keep his head I'd say start Justin Jackson too.

When I watch Justin Jackson play it seems to me that his arms and legs are somehow out of rythum with the rest of his body. He could use a body coordination course.

i could see jj starting i would love it. it would nice to see mick drop yancy for jj for the start of the groom. i will have new found respect for mick

So you want Thomas and Jackson to start on the frontline along with Bishop on the wing? Where is your offense coming from? At least Gates is a threat and someone that the other team has to be aware of. I like Jackson but he is still very raw on the offensive end and he still fouls way too much on the defensive end.

Sure can! I think we are all frustrated by Gates and Thomas right now but another big man is not going to grow on a tree over night. We kind of have to roll with what we have.
