UC and everyone else in the country. Also- whose fault is it Thomas has been in foul trouble? His production has been low either way, doesnt matter if he is playing or not because of foul trouble--both are his fault.

It is Thomas's fault that he has been in foul trouble. Thomas plays defense with his hands and arms instead of his feet. Mick and his assistants tell him all the time about it, but as the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.

Thomas has been in foul trouble all three games and Yancy has been nursing a sprained ankle.

Another thing to consider, Mick coaches team rebounding, not individual rebounding, Yates and Thomas often position against their man so another Bearcat can grab the rebound.

Ralph bring something of merit to the conversation please. You're talking to other Bearcat fans. Knowledgeable basketball fans. They've been outrebounded 3 games in a row because the starting 4-5 aren't coming mentally prepared to play. You make the program look bad with these tired weak excuses when anybody who knows anything about hoops knows they are empty. There is no need to try and protect the team here. We are on board!! We are trying to have an open honest discussion and then you throw crap like this!? BTW, who the hell is Yates? Can he rebound?

Yancy has been nursing a sprained ankle.QUOTE]

Here we go. get real. I didnt even see Yancy get his ankle taped (meaning it wasnt an issue). He could have and that stil wouldnt change the point. He has played half assed recently. USF = 3 rebounds.

Yancy plays when he choses to play. Your continual bullshit is annoying and a waste of everyones time. We all know you get your jollys of being "that guy" but let it go.

I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but the SOS has a lot to do with the past weeks play. Particularly Gates. You simply cannot expect a player to go up against a vastly inferior counter part day in and day out to suddenly play at a level that may be even beyond him. It would have been very benificial to have played a couple strong teams early on to at least get a feel for that high level.

That's fair but also remember that since scheduling is done well in advance, it is hard to predict who will be good and who won't be. I think Mick was really banking on that Duke game as being the one game (in addition to XU and UD) that everyone could point to in the out of conference. When it was replaced by Oklahoma no one knew their best players would all declare for the draft. At this point it is what it is but as long as we take care of the teams that we should beat and defend the home court, there are still many opportunities to get that signature win.

I don't give a $hit about the competition in the OOC play.

We took a huge dump on every decent/good team we played. Dayton and Eggsavier are not terrible. Sorry people. These were not the blind, deaf and crippled.

Did we play Duke, Kansas or Texas? No. Guess what? We would've lost.

We've played 5 BE games. We've pretty mucn controlled the games at home. We've looked poor on the road, against top 10 teams. We've now played the best the country has to offer, on their courts.

Adjust. I only ask we adjust. Play tougher. Play to strengths. The energy is there, but we need to execute. Nothing matters but the next game. Practice hard. Be diligent about the scouting report. DO YOUR INDIVIDUAL JOB.

We're lacking in the post. We need our big guys to step up. They have not been the weak link in the past, but are hurting us now.

Big game at ND.

Alum, curious to know how important you feel these next two are. I really think they could make or break the season. If we can win both, that all but locks us I think. A split keeps us where we need to be, where I expected us going into this stretch. But I think 2 losses may destroy our chances. Not only do I think fans will go nuts, and we'll of course be behind in the league, I think it could really hurt the psyche of this team. These kids heard all of the whispers about the OOC, and I think 4 straight road losses will easily negate any confidence gained early in the year.

It'll be tough but I think we HAVE to win won of these.

I agree. I think the St. John's game is more of a must win than ND but I think both are extremely important.

I know people are going to get tired of me posting this. Gates/Thomas combined average of 10.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg over the last three!!!!!!! It's not rocket science.

BA1 is dead on with his playing to their strengths statement. Good teams have players that play their roles. This team has gotten away from that. Some things have been exposed. Most noteably a lack of mental toughness, especially in the low post. Stop worrying about how the fouls are being called. If you're not shooting well play better defense. If you're getting pushed underneath, push back. If outside shots aren't falling attack the basket and get to the line. Adjust!!

To answer the question, "How important are the next two"...I believe it's a must to win one of the two. Come out of this 4-3 at worst. If you can win them both you sit at 5-2 and are in excellent shape with over a third of the conference games behind you.

The next two games will be wars my friends. These games are just as important to ND and St. Johns. You better have your big boy hat on when the ball goes up.

Mick teaches team rebounding not individual rebounding.

Just stop!!!!!!!!!!!! Every team teaches team rebounding!!!!!!!!! That doesn't eliminate your individual responsibility. You're giving me a headache with this. You either have the most warped sense of humor in the world, or have little to no understanding of basketball.

It's just Ralph being Ralph. Like Greatone said, not only is he hilarious, but he's almost always right too.

UC missed 41 shots on Saturday, Syracuse missed 21 shots on Saturday. UC had approx 67% of the missed shots therefore Syracuse should have about 67% of the rebounds. Syracuse got 35 rebounds, UC got 25 rebounds. That is 58% of the rebounds for Syracuse, 42% of the rebounds for UC. therefore, on a per cent basis UC out rebounded Syracuse. Things are never as bad as they seem, the glass is half full not half empty.

It is very difficult to win on the road in the Big East as Syracuse is finding out right now and Villanova found out earlier today.
